  1. Great pics and story Joe. That looks like a really tough place to hunt. 👍 Guess everything there is wedged in stone. I wonder what the spike is from, how old it is. Was it being used to break the limestone? 🤔
  2. They're coming Joe - seen some rumblings. My only hope is that they are not V2... 😵🤣
  3. Hi GP, and welcome. 🙂 A short bio/intro is appreciated in the Meet and Greet for first time posters. There may not be an all- encompassing solution for you. You didn't say what pinpointer you have, some pinpointers use streaming WiFi, others Bluetooth, and are generally sold as sets with the headphones and detector. Had you browsed the forum you would have seen many posts on just this subject. I'll offer what I do, It's too hot this time of year to wear over ear headphones so I wear on ear headphones (SoundBlaster Jam V2 - $39 Amazon) and I can hear my pinpointer just fine. Others just switch their Garrett Carrot or whatever to vibrate only and go with that. Seems to me I have never had a problem hearing the Carrot over my on ear headphones, so there's that. 🤔 Used it all winter. A detector so noisy that it interrupts your pinpointing is a sign of heavy EMI, or improper Ground Balance and noise cancelling. Or you're on a bed of nails 😉 While you're waiting for others to chime in, why not tell us a bit about your experience and equipment in Meet And Greet? We also like pics of finds. 😀
  4. I posted these as well as others on Amazon Prime Day, @BchPatrol and I bought them for $10, hope some of y'all did as well. Other PAWW devices are verified to work with the Equinox, and these definitely don't disappoint. Normally they are $50. What a deal. Here are some specs: And here is a breakdown of what they look like: Ok, now for the review. I hate sticking stuff in my ears, earbuds are either uncomfortable or don't stay in. The sound is usually tinny or low volume. I bought an Aukey set that lasted 3 days and sounded terrible. These are quite the opposite. Never have earbuds fit so well, been more comfortable or so loud. The dual speakers in these are incredible. I can't run the Equinox volume much over 22 and the volume on these too much over default. I have $100 AKGs and Galaxy buds that don't sound as good. Battery life is respectable. I hope they last more than 3 days because my initial impression is that they are worth even $50. They are sweat resistant, pretty light, and I'm impressed by the materials and the ear inserts that hold them in place. They paired faster than any other headphone I've used. I got these for the windy days when I'm not going to be using the other fabulous find this year - the SoundBlaster Jam V2. I should have bought 2 sets of them.
  5. Half Reales are about the same size and thin as a Trime. Again, they will ID between 16-18. Dug 4 of them, all pretty much the same. That's why I dug all pull tabs in every older relic site. Unfortunately I get excited every time. 🤣 Farmers tend to get thirsty.
  6. I dug one of those a while back, on a day where I found almost nothing but bullets. I think I was in an area used for a range. It's a relic for sure, now you just have to figure out what rifle. 🙂 Sharps?
  7. Got one more short hunt in, the ticks are getting really bad. Despite my use of Cutter, they drop from the trees now. Got tagged 2 more times. 😵 8"+ down, unrecognizable wheat, a faint 21/22. I cannot wait to try this coil at the beach.
  8. Me again, Doggo! 😀 Your .457 measurement could be the key, even a modern .45-70 bullet looks like this:
  9. Got mine today too, haven't paired then to the 600 yet but the sound is incredible from my Galaxy. Those dual drivers are loud. For $10 they were a steal. Let's hope they last longer than somea the reviews say they do.
  10. Hey Doggo, I dug one back in March. It was a 16/17 in the dirt, a solid 17 out. I think it was about 6" deep. Farm soil, no mineralization. Too bad that's also a pull tab ID 😵 Guess it's all fun
  11. True! I think I'm developing quite the distaste for digging Zincolns. My last run I was skipping 21/22's 😀 if I still had a boat I could cast 'em into replacement zincs. 🤔 I now think I know how you feel after a day of retrieving 100 coins or so. 😵 It was about 1 coin every 4 minutes. Here it was shooting fish in a barrel, the areas were small and easy to cover. No one had ever used a detector there, and yes the park started in the late 70s. Total bonanza for modern coins. I'll be going back again, got a gathering field loaded with coins and possible relics near a very old house. There are other places like the lake I didn't go into, I had a cut on my foot. Too old to risk infection.
  12. Nice coin! Been trying to get a good tide on the river myself. Looks like you got a bell clapper there too. Great stuff. 👍
  13. Finally looked at all of the 211 coins I dug at this campground. 58 quarters, oldest was 1979 50 dimes, oldest 1967 21 nickels, oldest 1964 82 pennies, oldest 1960. 20 1982 or older. Throwing out 17 of the pennies because they are too crusty or mangled. $21.20 in two and a quarter days! Actual time spent was about 14 hours. Sad there was no silver, but glad to have learned how to dig coins fast and deal with EMI, and got some tiny relics and jewelry, one possible gold item.
  14. Do you know the difference between lots of iron and EMI? That could be important. Recently I was at a place the only single frequency that would work was 10kHz. If you have done noise cancel and GB and the detector is still going nuts it's EMI. I have a 600 and almost always use Field 2 with F2=3, and all metal on. Sensitivity varies due to noise, but I run it as high as possible and back it down if it's too chatty. I always leave recovery speed at high, as it tells me in the 50 tones if there are a mix of targets. This isn't for the person that dislikes a lot of noise.
  15. Took the Equinox down to the landing this morning. Again I was surprised at the ease of ground balancing this machine with this coil - I guess it is stating the obvious because of its size mostly. You can find a spot to balance where it fits 😀 First I went to the lower landing that has been totally hammered by me and a bunch of others, even Chase. Used my usual settings, and only found a small brass stud. I decided to switch over to park 1 (supposedly the deepest searching mode) and only dug a half horseshoe that was a 13-15 for some reason. Went back to the upper landing where I was last week, and used park 1 again. Wasn't finding any good targets until my wife texted wanting to know if I was coming back for lunch. 😀 Right after I responded I heard a good tone in a lot of iron, and decided to dig. Didn't have to dig far, found the 2001 dime in a bed of nails. The coil is doing what it's supposed to!
  16. The bolt resisted a bit at first, but suddenly popped in. I didn't use any excessive force. Must be a tolerance thing. Read somewhere Coiltek is a sort of "garage band" company, I've worked for a few of those kind of manufacturers so it's no surprise. I noticed my serial number was not far off from another that it worked for. This coil is first batch, I jumped on an offer.
  17. Thanks! there are a lot of really experienced and technical folks here who post great stuff regarding this coil. I read almost all if not all of those posts, and thought an idiots' opinion might be an interesting read 😀 more feel oriented. I use my 600 almost every day, have since December. Being a retired 40 year technology veteran, I liked someone else's opinion that you should reset the machine with every coil change. The Equinox has lots of internal Magicks as evidenced by the long boot up time. Wouldn't want it to think it had some other coil and not perform its best. Reading that somewhere just made sense. I'm also a firm believer in making what I consider logical but uninformed statements so that I get my butt kicked by the pros. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. 🙂
  18. Thanks, I'm wondering if I'll ever take it off now. Only lose a little bit of coverage. Sure is light! Feels like using a precision instrument compared to the larger stock coil.
  19. Love it, Steve. Not "Boingy" like the one I had, if I hit a rock or something I don't get a symphony. Got a serious beach trip coming up, water performance to review. Thanks again for a unique (for now) look!
  20. I'm going with "field coin" Doggo, I dug one very similar to that at a campground. Had a rim but no details. 😵 The difference in weight could be the loss of detail from your research, I say bravo.👏
  21. Finally got my hands on one of these coils and am grateful. I was also lucky. Very lucky. First thing I was pleased about was that my Equinox coil bolt worked, it was a little tight but went right through. Did a system reset and re-paired my headphones. Next I noticed the coil cover is kinda sloppy, so I grabbed a couple of black zip ties, problem solved. I have an ear stiffener on my large coil with zip ties so this is no big deal to me. It will be easier to get off than the Minelab cover which was tough to get on, let alone off. It was kinda late in the day, so I set up my usual settings, Field 2, sensitivity 23, F2=3. This is what I used last weekend at the campground to score over 200 coins, although I had to switch to 10kHz a few times to cancel EMI. I went out in the back yard to a spot where there are hundreds of bullet shells of all sizes and metals, some steel, others varying brass, and a lot of lead. I wanted to see how the coil performed in a very dense metal environment. I noise cancelled, and then ground balanced in a spot with no metal. The first thing that struck me was how easily this coil goes silent when pumping it, I almost never get a perfect reading with the 11" coil, so I just go with it. This coil went silent after a few pumps no matter where I balanced, either turf, soil, or the dreaded "gravel test" in my driveway. If you've ever hunted in gravel, you know what I mean. The silence after about 5 pumps was shocking, and then every real target appeared with no false sounds. Wow! I tried it in a bit of field, thinking what a bonus it will be this fall because they planted corn this year. Real easy to maneuver. In turf it "falsed" a bit when it hit tall grass or stiff weeds, but not nearly as bad as the 11". Another thing I noticed was how "tight" the target IDs were. steel shells were 9 -11, brass 13-15. It almost seems like the coil has laser precision identifying targets. Can't wait to see how accurate pinpointing is! I didn't dig anything because I just got my lawn looking good, but I plan to take it to an area where there is a ton of trash, and see what I'm missing. It picked up targets at max depth, so the proof will be in the diggin'. Just a first impression, more to come.
  22. You can also get a set of these but they're not on sale. $135, Aptx-LL. 3 colors! https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Wireless-Surround-Cancelling-Customize/dp/B08KWRJ9GN 🤣
  23. Ordered a set myself, other Paww products are verified, but not specifically those. For $10 it's worth a shot. I'm not an earbud fan but I'll try them.
  24. If you have an Equinox and Amazon Prime, Paww earbuds are $10 today. Usually $50. Aptx-LL. https://www.amazon.com/Paww-DualSound-Resistant-Sweatproof-Ear/dp/B07KVFNWM3/ref=sr_1_3? Also these are $79 instead of $99, but I don't know if they will pair: https://www.amazon.com/dyplay-Cancelling-Headphones-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B0855DV5B8/ref=sr_1_5? These are verified, and half price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IEHIMLY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
