  1. That park is a gold mine πŸ˜€ nice stuff! πŸ‘ That lil' coil is really working out for you. I should have brought a plug shovel with me on this trip. Turns out there's a huge park here, I'd have to ask the local police but I bet it's detectable. Maybe next yearπŸ€”
  2. You're right about the physics of larger coils. πŸ™‚ I agree. I'm thinking I'll never get down to PI depths, and the muscle cramps I get even now with the lighter detectors are enough to shy me from the big coils. That and the $$ and the extra space they take up. The big winner for me with the small coils is the retrieval time, I find I don't have to use detector pinpoint, I can dig the target quick and move on. πŸ˜€ It's minimal but it helps. All my hunts on these trips are short, I rarely get to stay out more than 4 hours at a time. True a small coil doesn't cover a lot of ground at once, but the faster I can retrieve, the faster I can move on. I also don't like digging 3 foot wide or deep holes πŸ˜€ The only time wasted is with those false tones and IDs when the target ends up off center. My hope is I'll get as good with the Deus 2 and not dig as much junk. It does have salt settings πŸ€” I'm sure y'all notice when I use the Equinox my trash is reduced. Guess I'll just take what I can get. πŸ‘
  3. Not really, I think the D2 may go even deeper with it's 9" round, but I have hundreds of hours on the Equinox, and only about 30 on the Deus. I'll get used to it, taking it out again tomorrow. I do think I would have found all these things with either one here, this is like shooting fish in a barrel. Nothing nothing nothing target. There isn't much trash at all, no mineralization, and once you get used to it you know what's what. I was able to call every pull tab but dug them anyway. Every target but the pull tabs was at max depth on the screen. The Equinox and Deus both false on deep iron some times, that stake was over 12" down, and was giving me a faint 31. 🀬 The first one I didn't dig. 😁
  4. I have to say I love the Deus 2, but I'm glad I didn't sell the 600 to get it. It's still a mighty hammer in my tool box. πŸ™‚ The 10x5 combo with it is pretty hard to beat now that I've tweaked it to my preferences. Hopefully the Deus 2 will become as reliable and easy to use. I realize none of my finds have been particularly spectacular this week, got 4 more days to score something big. πŸ˜€ There's a lot of beach out there!
  5. Managed to snag one when I bought my Deus 2. πŸ‘ I like the way it integrates, and find it's pretty powerful when you can turn it up. I can definitely trust it if I don't have the Carrot. It is a little buggy, sometimes it doesn't engage, and sometimes I've had to re-pair it. Unobtainium for me has been the WS4 headphone adapter, Finally got one, it will be there when I get home. 😡
  6. Wow. What a score. πŸ‘ Location, location... That is awesome. Top tier find. πŸŽ‰
  7. Are those ceramic objects fountains? Wow you really are talented. πŸ‘ The first is other worldly, the second, well let's just say Is know a bunch of boys that would like that as a fishing decoration. πŸ˜€ I'm sure painting will be another talent! Really is already.
  8. Heh, then we have something in common beside our taste for headphones, I retired from IT myself a year and a half ago. I did IBM systems for a long time, ended as a Director of Tech for a school system. Built the entire MS network and did security. πŸ‘
  9. Day 4 is in the bag. πŸ˜€ Went to the beach I hunted yesterday, this time with the Equinox and 10x5, and at low tide. I guess spring break is over, the morning was rainy and cloudy but it cleared up and there weren't many people at the beach. When I say tide, I mean tide. I told y'all about this last year, the tide goes out 10 feet. It's like a pool being emptied and filled! This is ground zero, see how high the beach is? It's above my head, and goes more than 3 feet higher than that. I'm 6'1". Yikes. The water is about 75 to 100 yards away from this edge. When the tide comes in, all this is underwater, 10 to 15 feet. Hacked around the flat for a while, checking that edge for any heavy stuff that went down there. Nothing but a few sinkers and coins close to the water, I searched everywhere. I was just about to quit, and went up on the hill about chest height to high tide, and then the targets started coming. Here's the haul, not very impressive. One big costume hoop, an odd copper earring with a greenish stone, 3 quarters, one memorial, what I think is a gold plated electrical connector, a big copper scary hoodoo earring, and 3 tiny things. This is where it gets interesting, the small metal thing with the loop next to the penny was over 12" down, and ID'd as a 12/13. It took forever to dig it out. I'm gonna go out on a limb here. 😬 Anyone that claims the 10x5 doesn't find deep targets is as wet as my shoes were. πŸ˜€ A tiny object like that is clear proof. 😎 It is small, thin, and not really great metal. The coil hit it like a brick. The next thing is my favorite find of the day, a broken earring. Again tiny, may be gold, may have real diamonds, I'm gonna test it. It was 3 big scoops down in hard packed and drained sand. It was a 14/15. That big copper earring with the moon and eye kinda creeps me, it has runes and stuff. πŸ˜€ It was also extremely deep, was a 20/21. While I was hunting a guy came up to me and asked if I wanted a mission - to find his friend's stainless steel wallet that he lost when they were fishing, a big cargo ship came by and swamped the beach, you better run when that 5-10 foot wave comes in! πŸ€ͺ I may look for it tomorrow. Here's the trash, turned on F2=3 to cancel out those dang bottle caps, three too late. 😡
  10. Wow. Bet @rvpopeye likes this shot too. πŸ‘ That's some grueling but fun work! I was in bands for years, I liked doing recordings but nothing as sophisticated as that! Thanks for the vote of confidence. This is too good a deal for NC headphones for the Equinox. πŸ™‚
  11. Hey everyone, sorry I didn't reply to anyone, the photo was my post and reply. πŸ™‚ What better way to celebrate the Resurrection than to do something I really love. It was fun to be nice to people all day, I had a great one!
  12. Cap'n ya gotta read the thread. It's been stated over and over that these headphones are Aptx-LL. They pair with the B+. πŸ™„ πŸ™‚ They are Aptx-LL. Low latency. That's what the Equinox does.
  13. I searched the forum for "Truman", nobody ever found one and posted it? Wow. My grandfather's first name was Truman, unusual first name. He passed in the 70s. He was born in the late 1800s so he wasn't named for the president. πŸ˜€ Guess I got a lucky coin! Ironic anyway. 😁
  14. I like it. I'm no artist, nor great appreciator, but forgive me if I insult you by my take on your painting: It's sorta whimsical, kinda like a dream. I really like the flashes of gold in the rock. I think it's really well done. πŸ‘ IMHO you could stop right there. πŸ™‚
  15. No problem! Being on social security and retirement makes one look for bargains, I make about half of what I did working. πŸ˜€ Just glad that now and again I get a windfall so I can stay up with things. πŸ™‚
  16. The tide has been advancing an hour a day since we got here, first day was about 12 pm, now it's 4. 🀬 That's one of the issues of travel hunting, you're at the mercy of the tides. I wish the mints would do that too, the Australians are having too much fun with their 1 and 2 dollar coins. πŸ‘ It rained last night and is going to this morning so I'm going out this afternoon to catch low tide. Shouldn't be too many people out there now we're past Easter. I have the best wife in the world. πŸ˜€
  17. Yeah, I probably should collect all colors and do some art stuff with them, but it takes too much time away from finding them. πŸ˜€
  18. I didn't know it existed myself, but I did know some commemorative dollars are out there. They only made it in 2015, the D mintmark is the second least mintage at 3,500,000. San Francisco mint of course is the lowest at 1.5 million. It's only worth face value for now.
  19. Same problem with nails and big iron. 😡 What I did was switch to Relic, but I think it eats coil battery as fast. 🀬 However, I dig almost no iron. πŸ€— I want to use Deep HC, but I'll have to fiddle with it more. Relic was the easy way out πŸ˜€
  20. I haven't done the update either, got advice to wait. No problem with bottle cap reject at a salt beach this morning, turned it on in Beach mode after finding my first bottle cap. At a setting of 3 it broke 'em up nicely. Didn't need to push it farther. Had the opportunity to test that with 3 caps on top of the sand. πŸ™‚
  21. NCToad for the win! πŸ˜€πŸ‘ Nice Walker. Remember what TID it was? Got a Truman dollar this morning that was a 95. And a massive silver shell to boot. πŸŽ‰πŸ† I love those old hose sprayers, you can get them working again fairly easily. Great hunt! Guess you're liking the D2. πŸ™‚
  22. Nice knife! Good to see it in that condition after many years in the ground. πŸ‘
  23. I'm out of likes, but great photos! I can feel the woods. πŸ‘ Glad you walked out of there with a couple silvers, that's a great day. πŸ™‚
  24. Sun finally came out, wind calmed down. This morning I headed to North Beach, didn't think many would be there on Easter Sunday. I wasn't wrong. It was cloudy at first but the sun came out strong over the 5 hours I was out there. The first hour I spent trying to find where people were, and going knee deep to high tide last evening. Really didn't find much. I think the storm wind yesterday pushed a ton of sand up, it was out of the north. Anything below high tide was completely gone. Coming back I did a little better on the towel line. I had some entertainment, a Coast Guard HH-65 "fantail" landed at the lighthouse. I hope it wasn't an emergency 😬 Not a heckuva lot today, but I did get something I've never dug before: A US Truman dollar, 2015 Denver mint. πŸ₯³ I feel SO Australian... πŸ˜€ The total take was $1.53, my best day yet for coins, and a little gold ring that may be gold. I also dug a tiny stud earring, but dropped it when unloading my stuff. If I find it I'll post it, it was about the size of a BB, and was about 8" down. Solid but faint 64. Trash was typical for a beach, I turned on bottle cap reject after the first, the others were on top. It was fun to test it. Going to try the Equinox out there tomorrow, unfortunately the tide is advancing so I may go in the afternoon. πŸ™‚ Seems to me I'll do just fine with Beach mode, sensitivity 97, bottle cap reject 3, Salt 5, Reactivity 1.5 Anything deep and faint was big iron.
