  1. I might talk to the farmers. I'm sure they have a few tricks... ?
  2. That's a great idea Joe. ? As it was the turtle was protected by me from the eagles, hawks and ospreys and an owl. I thought mowing would do some good but I got tagged by a nymph tick yesterday. ?
  3. I mentioned these headphones but it's embedded in another thread. I think them worthy of a post of their own with the right tag. They're not waterproof or even water resistant, but I'd still use them at the beach. I don't like earbuds, and the one set I tried failed after 3 days. I've been looking for something that is on ear or bone conducting, this headphone was released in December 2020. Don't know why I didn't find them earlier: Creative SoundBlaster Jam V2. Specs: Aptx-LL (B+ on the Equinox) Bluetooth 5, Aptx-HD as well Can connect to 2 devices, and be used direct wired via USB-C cable 22 hour purported battery life On ear 2" Neodymium drivers 3.5 ounces Noise cancelling (but you can hear ambient sounds like your pinpointer) USB-C charging Spare pair of ear pads and charging cable. These headphones are outrageously light, can easily accommodate any head size (they will expand as you use them), and they are loud and have bass boost. After using them for a day they sounded almost as good as my BT-80 over ear headphones which I compare everything to. They paired within 2 minutes to the Equinox. Once paired, put them on, push the large button and hold until you hear a tone. Turn the Equinox on and bam. The only cons I can think of are that the band is a bit uncomfortable (no padding) unless you wear a hat, and they can come off with a lot of stooping. Wrap the band with sticky tape. I wrapped mine with ACU because I like camo. ? They're $39 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08QRQMLVY
  4. Thanks. That RV park trip really sharpened my ability to focus on deeper targets, and cranking F2 to 3 (it's 2 by default on the 600) is a big help. There are so many nails and iron bits you really have to trust your intuition or just dig. Can't wait for bush hogging in November, I wish I could maintain this whole place but I don't want to trash my mower. Of course the poison ivy and ticks are an issue.
  5. It's a 19/21 on the 600, probably brass or copper alloy? Solid 19 out of the ground. My new camera phone takes 64MP photos, so I hope this reduction is good enough. ? I think it's tinned, not silver plated.
  6. Pounded it a bit today. Got another suspender buckle and a nickel plated faucet handle. I had to wait for this Eastern Box turtle to lay her eggs, then marked the spot so I won't dig it. Favorites today were the 1922 dog tax tag and the silver plated knee buckle. It is cast and still has some plate on it. I do think the other buckle is stamped, it's pretty thin. This one is much older. Pin was on the back.
  7. Wow that's a heckuva site! He may be the person that does restorations for the store I got my Equinox from. Really great work. Thanks.
  8. Odd that it got completely twisted. The tab was twisted around. I would love to get that straight so I can have a shot at knowing its use, but I know it would break.
  9. Thanks! This area has had activity from the Mid 1600s to the Mid 1900s, you never know what you'll find. Of course I'm here now but I'm not leaving change or buckles ? maybe some golf cart parts... ?
  10. Went out for a couple of hours this morning. I find that the 2nd day after a big rain (we got 8"+ in two days) is better than the day after. It was a nice day, pretty cool and the deer flies are finally on the decline. I loaded up with Cutter and headed out to the steamboat landing, I have been mowing small portions of it for access to the river and to hunt the dirt as well. Can't do the whole thing, it's quite a few acres. I cleared this ~30x40' space that I think was where a small building was, there is brick and lots of iron. It's a challenge to find anything so I went for deep iffy signals that were for the most part repeatable. I wasn't disappointed, great conduction today. Got the usual junk: Lamp parts, what might be gun parts, and shotgun shell ends. A couple nails. The round disc appears to be the back of a wristwatch, there are no markings. Dug a couple of wheats, a 1918 and one with no discernible date. The latter was 8" down under a root. Some chrome plated object, probably recent. The buckles were the most interesting things, first is a suspender buckle similar to one Chase found here, with a patent date: Second is what I think is from the 1700s, not sure whether it is for a shoe or knee: Unfortunately the rounded plate is twisted, I don't dare try to fix it. Last is another of the clip type buckles, this makes #3 and is the most spectacular of them all. I have the other half. This one is the most ornate: Got new headphones I'm going to try out there tomorrow.
  11. Got the headphones, they are cheap but they connect with b+, are loud and even have bass boost. They're very light, sit on your ears instead of over them so you can hear ambient noise. For $39 they're really good. 22 hour run time. Pretty cool so far, going to take them out for a full test drive tomorrow. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08QRQMLVY
  12. What a score! ? What detector are you using? Can't imagine what that sort of find would sound like.

    Hello

Hey FlyDog, Welcome to the forum. I'm pretty sure you have to earn your stripes to sell. A rambling intro would be great!
  14. They put the 1 over the 2, so definitely a half. I think 1839 is as good a guess as it gets. Full collectors' name for that is a "Go PJ". I'll leave ya the fun of finding its worth. ? Libertad
  15. Great stuff again. ? The Mexican coin will give up its worth if you can get the mark next to the "R" more visible. It's either 4 or 8 Real, I'm gonna say 1830s. Some of those are quite valuable, yours is a "P.J." or "PJ". Cool bullet mold and thermometer back too.
  16. Nice gold and coin! ? Yesterday I ordered these, they came out in December 2020. They are "on ear" but supposedly quite loud. Aptx-LL, I'll let you know how they work as they are only $39. They might be great for hot days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08QRQMLVY
  17. Nice finds! Here in VA the ground was concrete for 3 weeks, and now we are dealing with heavy rain and flooding. I have a beach trip coming up. ? Most of the "Virgin of Guadalupe" pendants that I see from "Lensing" your photo are silver, so cool that you got a gold one. ?
  18. Hope you have a great time and good luck with detecting. East Coast has been softened up by rain, especially the Mid Atlantic. We've had over 6" of rain in two days now, I feel sorry for the folks at sea level. Post some pics of your finds so we can dream... ?
  19. No worries Steve. Note the rather heavy printed block with 6 stainless screws and the loop and plate. I use this rig not only to keep the detector safely tethered to my golf cart (I have a restraint for my dog to keep him from flying off), I also use it for a Limbsaver sling when I'm in the water. I'm sure it makes up most of the difference. ? I also just used the weight of the Equinox straight off the Internet, not that of any of my configurations. It was not intended to be disparaging in any way!
  20. Then really it's mARRRRRRvelous! ? I hope I helped Steve a bit. He's a great guy. ?‍☠️
  21. Honestly, I weighed the detector after putting everything on. 2.99 pounds. ? No weight saving over original configuration. Doesn't bother me a bit.
  22. Well ya got me beat, I dug 6 along a clothesline. IHP's are one of my favorites because of the well-raised date. Too bad modern coins degrade so fast, we should be leaving more of a legacy.
  23. I've never been one to steer my life by what others think of me. ? I'm pretty sure this will be a standout if anyone can see it. You really have a great business, and it's been a pleasure. Soooo, y'all can send me your GPX 6000's and I'll trick them out. Might even send a few back. ?
  24. I wore it for 10 myself. Now that I'm retired I wear it a lot more. Here lots of us wore/wear it to work.
  25. It really fits in here, a lot of people wear Camo of some sort all year. Wanted to do something unique. Since I got back from the RV trip it's been either too hot or rainy, right now we have 12"/hour thunderstorms sitting over us after a 3 week drought. At least the ground won't be concrete anymore. ?
