  1. Over 9 oz so far. A couple more pics after processing the species before I sold them . Gotta love the gold price at the moment. 🙂
  2. My last 3 patches have all been below old reef mines. The old timer's surfaced the ground below the reef workings until the ground got to deep then sank holes. I found a few scattered pieces on the surfaced ground and the mullock heaps down further and thought I got most of the gold. Then I tried the left and right edges of the surfaced area. Standing on the bottom of the slope and looking up towards the reef mine at the top, the right hand sides on all 3 surfaced areas were barren of detectable gold but the left sides had a narrow strip of ground running down the slope that the old timer's didn't dig that was full of species. Makes me wonder why they didn't dig a bit further to the left. Were they all right handed diggers? LOL. Here are a few pics with some of the results.
  3. Where I'm detecting at the moment is covered in long grass and I have trouble keeping the 12x7 parallel with the ground. The grass keeps pushing the nose up and I'm forever adjusting it so I use the 9" round coiltek which handles the grass better. Love the 12x7 apart from that and is always a toss up which one to use.
  4. Yes I found the 14"×9" disappointing as well. Good ground coverage for patch hunting. It can get over a fair bit of ground in a day. Found a nice little patch of species just below some old reef workings with it. But every time I look at it I think why would someone ruin a perfectly good 14" round coil by shaving the sides off it LOL.
  5. Yea I've found the 9" round excellent to. It's my go to coil. It doesn't leave much for the other coils.
  6. Simon , smokey prospecting has a utube video comparing the two with interesting results 🤔
  7. I'm a coil addict , always have been . I own all coils currently available for the 6000. All have paid for themselves except the 10"×5" goldhawk. It's my latest purchase though. Takes a lot of pin head pieces to get the weight up and I personally haven't got the patience. Still sweating on the 16"x10" exceed for hopefully more depth.
  8. Yep I have. No magic unfortunately. Nothing much has changed. Smaller coil is slightly more sensitive to Smaller bits. Larger coil slightly more depth on Larger bits. Round coil slightly more depth .
  9. Hi Trev , is there any chance of a 14" round mono being made for the 6000? I've always used a 14" round on previous detectors probably 90% of the time. The 14" round elite was a game changer on my gpx 5000. 😉
  10. Yep same, lots of people bypass the 9" round in favour of an elliptical coil , which I think is a big mistake. I know I'm missing the crumbs that the smaller ellipticals can get but the way I look at it is you gotta leave a few crumbs for the mice otherwise they go looking for the cake.🤣
  11. The 9" round coiltek goldhawk coil is my favourite for the 6000, super quiet, excellent depth and sensitivity. I find I can run it with a lot more sensitivity than the 11" coil. I always run in difficult , after much testing there's not much difference between it and normal, running way quieter and immune to most hot rocks. If I find I'm in an area with bad hot rocks I use the quick track button to ground balance on the hot rock, and that usually helps get rid of them .Next choice is the 12"x7"exceed for a bit more ground coverage. Can't wait to try the 16"x10" exceed.
  12. Wow simon that's to serious for me .🙂 After lots of testing I only use the one button on the 6000 now , on and off . Great change from the 5000 . l know I'm still missing gold , but show me a detector that doesn't, stress free detecting 👍
  13. Please coiltek, bring out a 14" round or larger mono coil for the gpx 6000 , maybe 18" round mono, thanks .🙏
  14. Yep I have the 12" x 7" exceed and 9" inch round goldhawk, nothing much has changed, round coil = more depth , elliptical = better sensitivity. No magic wand unfortunately.
  15. Still limited supplies in Australia available now and then so their still making them . I'm still waiting on the 16" x 10" exceed coil that I paid for almost 12 months ago to be released. 🤭
  16. Has anybody heard anything on the release date for the 16"×10" nuggetfinder exceed coil ? 🥱
  17. Last year gumvale station and Mt Stuart station where open to prospecting at $20 a day to camp and prospect. $15 a day to prospect only. The town common requires a permit to prospect at $30 for 1 month , no camping allowed on the common. Mt Stuart is closer to town and l found I had telstra phone service most spots if not just find a hill. Gumvale lot further out of town and really struggled to get phone reception.
  18. No prospecting in the national park at tibooburra allowed. Any national park in nsw for that matter. 12 month permits available for state forests in nsw about $30 . Then you can prospect any of the numerous state forests in nsw for 12 months .
  19. On my sd 2200 and gpx 5000 I use filter 2, and on the gpx 6000 I found filter 1 best for my headphone setup. I lower the detector volume and threshold and use the SP01 as the volume control on the 2200 and 5000. With the 6000 I run the detector volume at 2, threshold on and use the SP01 as the volume control. Filter 3 rarely ever use because of its quiet weak signal.
  20. About 1 hour on an old puddler, 5 gram solid bit with a minelab eureka duel ace back in the early nineties. That piece got me hooked for life. Looked huge at the time doesn't look so big now.
  21. A few more species for the 6000 and 9"goldhawk. Most were between 4" and 6" in the ground and gave good solid signals. The biggest one about 1 foot, and gave a weird, wobbly, signal. Wasn't very confident thinking it was trash but dug it just to be sure. The 9" round is perfect for where I detect in knee to waist high grass, brush, sticks, rocks, and trash. In very hot red ground still has good depth and sensitivity while running reasonably smooth and quiet.
  22. Finally finished processing specie's. End up with just over 2oz.🙂
  23. Yes very odd. Fully paid for a 16x10" last August. Now all the NF exceed coils have increased $50 aus per coil. Thinking seriously about changing order to 10×5" goldhawk and spare lower shaft .Then I'll have all three goldhawks. I will send detector in for upgrade , then that's it. If I cannot find enough gold with that combination it's time to retire from detecting!
