Chase Goldman
Doubtful. As stated earlier in the thread, the number of individual frequencies on the Equinox is unrelated to the number of simultaneous frequencies used in Mult IQ other than the Multi IQ frequency profile range encompasses the the 5 individual frequencies. Since Vanquish does not have a single frequency mode, the coil diagram "clue" really doesn't correlate. But who knows, ML appears to revel in these ambiguous pseudo technical graphic design references. I personally find it lies somewhere between insulting and annoying. Hate the marketing, but love the detectors.

But if their detectors give us the best chance to perform in the field, then all that annoyance is tolerable.
Noah (FL)
Where did that coil picture/graphic even come from? Looks like someone photo shopped the original Equinox/MultiIQ information
Steve Herschbach
Transmitted frequencies have never mattered, only frequencies received and the manner in which they are processed. Something you will never know unless you hack the firmware. Pay attention to field performance, not marketing hooks. Debating multiple frequencies is like trying to decide how fast cars go based on numbers of cylinders. Waste of time as there are too many other factors involved... just go test drive them.

I wonder which 3 frequencies the have chosen. Actually, it is probably only two frequencies combined in a manner they see fit to give a wide multifrequency spectrum based spectrum analysis of Equinox units. The two frequencies vary slightly depending on the channel chosen by the noise cancel circuit. The diagram above is very confusing as it shows the discrete single frequency selections of the Equinox 800 as they fall in the multiffrequency spectrum, but that has nothing to do with the two transmit frequencies chosen to be combined to create the multifrequency spectrum. Bottom line, don't worry about it. Minelab is not bothering to shed any light on what frequencies they are using and it is frankly immaterial in the multifrequency context just as Steve said in the post just prior to yours. Just enjoy your Vanquish for what it is. A very affordable multi frequency detector.

If it is it could be a cheap option to obtain a smaller coil for my Foxy Noxy.. I could get the Vanquish Pro Pack with two coils ( 8" and 12" DD Smart Coils) for nearly the same price as the smallest Equinox coil (and add another detector to the arsenal).. Am hoping this could work as both detectors are Multi-IQ (unless not all Multi-IQ is created equal).. I've read elsewhere (see link below) that the Vanquish 340 operates on 7, 18 and 75 kHz (i'm assuming these frequencies are the same for the other models).. Maybe these frequencies would cause havoc with Foxy Noxy which operates on 5, 10 and 15 kHz.. I'll admit to being a bit of a frequency freak but i'm with some of the others on this forum who'd also like to know what frequency or frequencies their machines are operating on.. In my mind this also applies to Multi-IQ, what's the great secret with the Vanquish? Does keeping the operating frequencies a closely guarded enigma create extra mystique for potential customers? I'd say just get out with it and tell the good folks what frequencies the thing operates on.. let the punters decide from there.. http://thesilverfiend.com/upcoming-minelab-vanquish-metal-detector/

Considering your aversion to Chinese knockoffs, are you being sarcastic? If not, that's an awesome range of coil sizes.. Do they work as good as the real deal? or is it like anything else, you get what you pay for? For a cheapskate like me these coils could be a dream come true.. Chase Goldman
Not worth it to go to these Russian hacked coils IMO. I just keep going back to the Equinox stock coil for 99% of my hunting (I have all three Equinox coils and do all kinds of hunting from beach to relic to coin shooting in different situations). Just going ahead and getting a Vanquish is probably a better bet if you like the Vanquish coil sizes (I've considered it) and then you also have a decent backup beach detector to your Equinox
