devilsrenegade
Seeing how Whites is out of business now , I decided I should get a replacement shell for my trx before they are unavailable and I wear mine out like my old Garrett pro pointer. I ordered from Serious Detecting LLC . $34.93 with free shipping. Not trying to advertise for them, I have just made purchases from them before so thought I'd get it there. Also seen some available from others on E-bay. Sure hated to see White's close their doors.
Joel
I coated the bottom 4 inches of mine with PLASTI DIP, it is used to coat tool handles. It has held up very well against abrasion.
Steve Herschbach
Yeah, time to stock up on spare parts, just in case.
cudamark
I don't think I will buy any extra parts for obsolete detectors. With my luck, the part that fails will be one you can't get, and I'd have to toss the whole works anyway.....new spare parts and all.

The Whites Trx pinpointer is one of the best pinpointers ever produced and I think it is far from obsolete. I'll be keeping mine for many years I'm sure ! Just my opinion.
cudamark
I had one go bad a few months ago. White's gave me a new one, but, it's not exactly like the one I bought. I liked that lime green case on my original, but, the replacement was the standard black with the orange end cap. The first one had some sort of internal electrical problem. You'd turn it on and it would just keep beeping uncontrollably. If this one eventually does the same thing (or dies some other death), I'll just get a new one in a different brand.

I have the one with the black case and orange cap , have had it for maybe 2 yr's now with no problems. keeping my fingers crossed now after reading your post. if it ever does the death dance before me, I think I would go with the XP. I like everything I have read about it.
