Bill (S. CA)
I just found out that I have a cracked rib. The CT scan indicates that it is healing. I'm about 6 weeks in since the injury. Is it safe to start swinging or am I better off to wait a few more weeks? The rib is tender but doesn't hurt like it did a few weeks ago. Gee I just love getting old... RobNC
I feel ya. I've got an elbow with persistent tendonitis. Hurts like Hades but I went out and detected today anyway with the Nokta Legend. I detected until it became quite brutal and it was time to quit. I say go detecting and take it easy. Don't make any sudden movements and move slower/be more careful. Watch that twisting motion or stooping/bending which will put pressure on the rib(yes I have experience with rib injury too). Go enjoy yourself within reason and enjoy life! I wish you the best and hope the rib heals well.
F350Platinum
I completely dislocated my left shoulder back in November, the orthopedic specialist I went to see poked and prodded a bit and told me I could get back to detecting immediately. He said it would be better for me to use it than keep it in a sling, that's the new way. He simply said "if it hurts too much don't do it". Digging makes it feel better, it still hurts from time to time. I'd get a doctor's advice for a rib.
Lodge Scent
Cracked ribs are no big deal.....unless you laugh, cough, sneeze, breath or move, or don't move. Swing for 10 minutes in your house and see how it feels.

Bill (S. CA)
Thanks for the advice you guys. I just don't want to do something dumb and really mess it up.
Digalicious
I know the cracked rib pain. Knowing a sneeze is coming on, is brutal anticipation, followed by "fall to the floor" pain. Rob, How about using your other arm?

Swinging a detector is one thing…..maybe you’ll be okay for that. Recovering targets???
Ridge Runner
Who said this is our golden years is full of Bull. I was leaning over today and pop over one rib over the next one. I found out stars come out in the daytime too . This is a injury from another time back that just won’t go away. I’m thinking any day I’ll get up and the screw that holds my butt on has rusted out . Why say more you know what happened next. I’ve been told it’s a great life if you don’t weaken . Chuck
