Garrett Vortex Metal Detector Series?
DSMITH replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
I am with you on everything you stated, other than the S Shaft, but I could live with that as long as it performs, personally I do not even need it to be water proof rain proof is good enough for me personally, I really like the Axiom form factor so if this new Vortex comes out like that I will be happy to throw my $$$s to Garrett -
Unless it’s saltwater. The water when coil submerged is also all around the coil, not just under it, making the problem worse. Salt is Tom Ds mineralization, and why he likes the small coil. It can handle a higher sensitivity setting submerged in saltwater without falsing.

The gold was good, but those clams were great! LOL Where I usually hunt the clams are rarer than the gold. Went to a different location and found both. I steamed the clams and dipped them in hot butter garlic.

Garrett Vortex Metal Detector Series?
The Lama replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
I really like that idea ,before the Apex came out i thought the perfect detector for me would be like an At pro on dry sand and like a cz21 or excalibur in the ocean and while i like the Apex better than the Cz or Excalibur in the ocean i still like the At pro better on the dry sand your system would solve that. -
WTG bringing home the gold and the bacon...clams in a nice buttery garlic sauce Yummy! strick

Official Steve H Conductive Rod Test
Steve Herschbach replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Yeah entire palm flat on bottom of coil is best. Actually happy to see that as did not make sense. -
Official Steve H Conductive Rod Test
phrunt replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I wasn't following Steve's instructions properly, he wanted the entire palm of the hand over the coil, not just fingers touching it, normally on most gold prospecting VLF's finger tips are enough, not on the Deus 1, it requires the entire hand. It's also less sensitive to small targets though with the #9 pellet almost needing to touch the coil when other detectors can get a couple of inches on it. So that ladies and gentlemen is why we need to follow instructions 🙂 -
I think I have noticed this while using the M8, detection at the outside edge of the coil, noticed most at the tip and tail.

Garrett Vortex Metal Detector Series?

Thanks for that explanation Steve. However, I've extensively consulted my Tarot Cards, Ouija board, and Magic 8 Ball. All say LRL's are a scam. -

I’d be redoing those tests again double checking all the settings because as you say something does not add up. If your hand is not being detected a certain range of gold has to be lost also. - Yesterday

That's a pretty good price (especially when you consider it comes with the SC 30, SC 24 coils AND wireless h.p.s.-----I was very impressed with "iffy signals" level 4 & 5 block tests on it. -

Nokta Double Score Update Now Available.
ECris replied to George Kinsey's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
Thanks George. I am very impressed with Nokta's approach and the speed on updates. Here are the details: "The factory has added a Deep Target Identification feature to the Field mode, which is not available in other modes. This feature allows non-ferrous deep targets, which are masked or detected as iron (ferrous), to be detected as non-ferrous. This feature cannot be adjusted by the user." -

Ditto for me on all that. BUT...if it's new technology that can discriminate most aluminum trash from gold, then I might relent on all my other wants 🙂 -
Garrett Vortex Metal Detector Series?
Ridge Runner replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Garrett Metal Detectors
Steve I am totally with you on the coil because the last thing I want is a wireless coil. The wireless I had I enjoyed it up to a point and that’s when I sold it. I myself could do without the internal battery. That way I could pull the battery pack and not have to worry about it even if it’s two years later. If that’s going to make a difference because of added weight then maybe I need to workout more. Garrett should have come out with this new detector this Sunday that being Father’s Day. I think we all have rubbed the brass off this magic lamp making wishes of what we want in this new detector of Garrett’s. Chuck -
Conductive Carbon Fiber Lower Rods
Gerry in Idaho replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
To get someone who is not normally posting on DP often, to chime in is fantastic. To get that same person to get involved and already show us an alternative "option" of a fix, is just what this forum is about and Sir, I applaud you for your efforts. Discussions on sites like DP can get heated at times and egos (including mine) temporarily bruised, but those are short term. and in the end, the detector user is provided with options for a fix and or the manufactures take note with an update. Thanks for your input, info and option of a fix. It looks quite interesting and certainly keeps the CF lower rod away from the coil.
