  1. Many of you may know my GPZ gave the ghost up and I shipped it back to Mother Minelab. It took a little over 7 weeks for my new one to arrive. Needless to say, it set me back on my Mid Summer hunting...which was fine since its been a warm one! Well I planned a trip to Rye Patch with my Buddy Rudy to hunt a couple spots and ran into a guy named Condor out in the desert. He said, he was from Yuma and I asked him if he was lost, lol. 3 days of swinging in the mid 90's had me running back to my cooler and finding shade under my truck! It wasn't 3 good days of detecting as far as solid hours go, but we made best of the time we spent behind our coils. The heat really pulled my Mojo away, as I was dwindling and finding myself not wanting to dig iffy targets, time to head home when that happens. There's always another hunt and now I'm home recouping my Mojo. Until the next hunt, little over 28 dwts in the photo...Geez, I can't upload the photo...you can visit my FaceBook Page Rick Lundquest - Wolf Pack Detecting LuckyLundy

  3. Many thanks for helping me post my photo to the story! I have the photo sizer downloaded now. Finding gold and understanding terrain features is second nature to me...I downloaded all technical stuff when I retired from the US Air Force, lol. There is a million places to hunt nuggets, if your close to one spend the time to learn your local area. You may think it's been hunted out! Rick

  5. I hit the same beach yesterday that I found the big mens class ring last week. The good karma must have come back to me for returning that ring to the owner as the beach gave up some nice goodies yesterday. A hat trick of gold......a 10k mens wedding band, a 10k ladies ring with three small diamonds and a beautiful 10k ladies broach/pin with a diamond and pearls. After a little research, the pin looks to be from the 1920's. And to boot, $11.66 in change. Klunker....I was looking for your initials "18k", but to no avail. I'll keep looking. Rob

  6. That's pretty good for 3 days and 3 'average' detectorists! Did Condor stay so he could get out of the 115-125 degree heat? Good thing you left so you didn't wear out that new detector. Mitchel

  7. If developing kick-a** new technology metal detectors was easy, then we would have them from many manufacturers every few years. to develop a new platform from scratch, even without a new technology, costs a lot of enginerring and developmnet dollars. If I had to guess, I would estimate that it would take about 7-10 man-years of so called "non recurring engineering" or "NRE". That can easily cost $1 - $2 million. A big chunk of change for a company whose annual gross revenue might only be in the tens of millions. You have to have some idea that is really exciting in terms of future sales to get management backing for a project like that. The fact is that sometimes small teams in small companies (and all of the metal detector companies are small companies) run into roadblocks - or sometimes opportunities that can easly add a year to the project. 2016 for a new Fisher? Well, there's always next year. Dave Johnson, Carl Moreland and the rest of the team are still on the payroll and I suspect that they aren't just designing new pink cammo schemes for kids detectors. we'll see.

  13. The heat does suck the life out of all but the most die hard people but you did great anyway Rick! Big photos and phone connections sometimes do not mix for uploading. I found a great free photo resizer - Simple Resize Apple http://simple-resize.appstor.io Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.tekunodo.simpleresize&hl=en

  14. Regardless of what is coming around the corner....you still have to do the work and dig targets. There are plenty of areas to hunt, sure a perfect discriminator would be nice. I have endless placer grounds to hunt full of trash and where there is trash there is gold. VLF technology does not do it for me...love the sweet sound of a PI. Still using my 4500 with a 11' Commander coil.I wont upgrade until they have a perfect discriminating ZED.

  15. Hi Folks: Sorry can't resist. The other day I went to see the Doctor as I was feeling a little run down. He asked the usual questions Docs always ask. How much do you smoke a day and how much do you drink a day. He got my usual response. Then he said, hold the palms of your hands out please. I said, the Nurse's always take a blood sample from the underside of my forearm. Are you going to do that to see if I am lacking in iron. Hence my condition. Oh no he said, blood samples are old hat.We use this now, and he pulls a Gold Racer out, and waves it across my two open palms. Nope he says, not a beep.I will prescribe you some Iron supplements. That's why you are run down. Lack of iron in your blood. Went back a week later after taking my Meds. Man did I make that Gold Racer beep, and now I just feel on top of the world. Amazing is all I can say. Cheers Trev from Down Under
