  1. This^^ take a small triangular jeweler’s file and file a small “V” on one of the links. It doesn’t have to be very deep as the plating would only be a few thousandths thick. Then take a high powered magnifier like a 10x or 12x loupe and see if the bottom of that “V” notch you filed is a different color than the gold.
  2. Yes, a small three tined rake might work better than a scoop.
  3. Here’s my scoop. Plenty strong (and heavy), but even though it’s small compared to most beach scoops, it’s still way too big to get in crevices between rocks. Needs a pointy end instead of rounded. I wish someone with better design capabilities could come up with something just for rocky creeks like this.
  4. Thanks 350! I just hate seeing all that trash in a beautiful trout stream. Yeah it’s hard work but probably good for my balance as I get older! 😁
  5. There’s a very popular river that has literally thousands of people that tube down it in the summer. It’s fed from a dammed lake about 5 miles upstream. In the spring, summer and fall they open the dam gates to raise the river level for the tubers and kayakers. They finally quit opening the dam for the winter so I donned my hip boots and took the nox with the 6” coil. It only got up to 46 degrees today so needless to say I was cold. It’s very hard to dig between all the rocks so I had to roll up my sleeve to retrieve the items I found. My scoop is nearly useless. Got a nice titanium ring early on and was just about ready to quit for the day when a solid 11 signal ended up being a 10k ladies ring. Look at all the vapes in this river (really just a creek). This is a trout stream!
  6. Thanks for the link I’ll check those out. I remember seeing 98. There was iron grunts coming through too. I was in program 3 with sense at 95 and reactivity anywhere from 1-3. I don’t recall what I had the reactivity set at when I found it.
  7. Indians are very rare for me. I’ve probably only found around 15 in my 8 years metal detecting. Congrats on a nice one!
  8. Thanks Bob! Btw, do you have a tip protector on your mi6, and if so, where did you get it? Thanks!
  9. The largest lake in my county is about 30 minutes away and they’ve lowered it for the winter. First time I ever hunted this lake was last weekend at a small beach area. Only got clad and it’s included along with today’s clad. I started off at that same swimming area. It’s pretty small and I got all the high conductors last weekend so today I dug medium and low conductors. I got a scratchy mid 30s signal and out popped a gold earring. After I got home I confirmed a 14k stamp on the little hinged piece that goes through the ear. I then moved down the shore and came to an open space about 40 yards worth of shoreline between houses on the shore. I soon hit a wheatie. Then not 5 minutes later I hit three silver dimes all within 3’ feet of each other. Probably a spill. After those three I say to myself “game on”!! About 20-30 minutes later I got a nice sounding 94 and up pops a ‘56 GW! Right next to it along with a bunch of iron grunts was a 90-91 and another silver rosie! I kept scanning that area and through the iron grunts I’m getting a high tone with mid to high 90s numbers popping on the screen. I dig down and up comes a 1960 big ben! Most likely another spill. To top things off, when I got home my new MI6 pinpointer was in the mailbox!
  10. I took today off work and had a great plan to hunt a local creek that gets thousands of people tubing down it in the summer. Today was a great day as near record high temps were forecasted. This creek has a dam about 5 or 6 miles upstream and they open the dam each day during the summer for tubing and into the fall for kayakers. I had checked the dam’s website and the dam was supposed to stay closed until next spring. However about a half hour after I got in the water, the water level started rising very quickly. Maybe they opened it because it was so warm. There were a bunch of kayakers in the parking lot when I left. So I resorted to plan B and went to a park that I’ve hunted many, many times and have found a lot of silver coins there, but they’re getting harder and harder to find. But I did get a 1924 merc and a nice sterling hair clip. Silver always lightens my mood! Lol
  11. I had the same problem myself with the Pro Max. The hole in the bottom of the holster has an inner shelf that catches the tip of the pinpointer making one have to fidget with it to drop through and fully seat. I took some epoxy putty and filled that so that the tip of the pinpointer can’t catch on it anymore. Works great now.
  12. Dude! You deserve a double hell yeah in all caps! HELL YEAH! HELL YEAH!!
  13. What an awesome coin! Congrats!
  14. I guess I’m the odd one out in that I wish they would come out with a round 6” coil if it’s possible to make one. I love the 6” on my nox!
  15. Nice Bob! That’s a nice looking gold ring and two silvers on top of that!
  16. First I’ve heard of the Nokta accupoint. Was it released recently?
  17. A couple of “Hell Yeah!) hunts for sure! I’d be hyperventilating too😄
  18. I recently bought a quest Xpointer max and carry it on every hunt, but I mostly end up using my old, reliable whites TRX. It’s (the TRX), much more sensitive to small foil than the Xpointer and deeper too. This with the Xpointer on boost. When I first got the Xpointer I would pull it out first and sometimes it wouldn’t pick up anything. Then I’d pull out the TRX and I’d get a hit. After this happening a few times I noticed a pattern; either the target was small foil or it was deeper and the Xpointer couldn’t hit it. I still carry it every hunt and use it occasionally but the TRX gets turned on first the majority of the time. I do like the much better volume on the Xpointer and it’s adjustability and its discrimination feature. Speaking of that disc feature; it sometimes calls small aluminum ferrous, but it’s never called a coin ferrous. I’m probably going to get an MI6 so I can hear it through the deus headphones.
  19. Hell yeah! That’s a great haul! May I ask what part of the country you’re in?
  20. Just received my gold acid test kit today. Looks like 14k!
