  1. On the List and hope to see the "AQ" someday, ...for right now working on a battery from what I have seen of the pictures posted and information shared. Battery is a LiPo 14.8 volt 2200 mAh ..... Found a M-8 4 pin cable... IP69K ...that will allow me to run a 90 out the back (Power/HP cable) to the battery which will set under the arm cuff but further forward the cables are more protected. The cable is Rated at 30v at Max current load of 3 amps. The only bad it is day glow orange.
  2. Steve I've learned......... like you........... when you have something that really works for you,.. best to be prepared and have a extra. At that price of 1499.00 .......... two might be the price of one in the future. I'm just glad Fisher and Rick have given the public a chance to get there hands on the "AQ",.... been a long 3 years..
  3. Had some real nice tides and winds a few days ago and I was able to get into a area I've been watching close. This Spot holds very little trash and seems to be loaded with plenty of the right targets. Interesting last year I was busy with another location that was really producing some nice gold rings and I kind of let this one go. But now that the other location got hammered good by South winds it's Amazing that this one is still open in just about the same area as last year, things have shifted but........... it seems the pattern is the treasure is right at the drop off from waist to shoulder deep....this spot the sand holds the gold and looks like they move together.
  4. Cliff I swear I have done the same. When I first started I had the same thing..So I learned my lesson.Check before filling..........but as time went along I got more confident and started just sealing them up..but.......................... it bit me again.
  5. Thanks Willy, I forgot to add I use Dow 111 but do not fill. (I called it siliconed)...Just a very light coat or small amount. Care must be used for it has a bad habit of attracting sand. One reason I've always recommend a lite wash off of the detector before removing any cables. And I guess specially for the AQ since it looks like it uses some "unique" fittings. Which I have used before and its a task with any connector making sure no sand gets in them. Never had a issue with any of them as far as saltwater. (short-circuits or corrosion which the positive pin is famous for on the Excalibur Ikelite fitting) But also I only hunt shoulder deep. Pictures to show some of the fittings that are used on the "AQ" ...The M-8 compared to the M-12.... which is more popular, then the Souriau which I used a few years on my excalibur to change out the coils.
  6. Never had a problem when I did mine...the main thing was keeping them cleaned and silicon-ed.
  7. Very nice haul on the Yellow! And on land! Never did I find gold on land.
  8. I agree, One Big chunk of Silver! And a nice bracelet too! Very NIce!
  9. I would not call it the strongest but it does seem to be holding well. I think in part for two reasons. I use the big noodle (which takes the blunt of force of the scoop hitting it) and I have another matting under to support. I've been using it for about 3 or 4 months now, no issues... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Plastic-Drainage-Mesh-Sheet-1m-x-50cm-Cuttable-Pot-Bottom-Net-Roll/273294773156?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  10. A great memory for all, and you have pictures to share many years from now.. Also...........Congratulations on the gold, beautiful save!
  11. The fact Carl Moreland and Alex Tartar had there hands in this machine......... that has Eric Foster roots is enough for me. I still don't see it replacing my excalibur but more of a finish off a spot machine...after the excalibur has had it's go. Come on "AQ"
  12. Come on "AQ"..!! That's funny I just ordered the Motus handle...Guess I'll be ready..
  13. Back out today, 3 hours...Something new......Working a small beach, fairly trashy. One small 10k stud Earring. Older 14k engagement ring. Sorry for the short post, I'm beat... Many thanks to everyone for the kind words...Be Safe And Good Luck..Joe
  14. One more for the pile. Hit a small out of the way beach that is up a cove, perfect when winds are bad. Took me a while to get settled in but got one small 10k gold ring, one silver ring, and a few coins. Funny I had all on video, came home started editing, renamed all of the files and trashed all the left overs. Some how in the mix I trashed the gold ring video that was misnamed.....I hate that. Oooo and I lost the silver ring in the mix but did save the video of it being dug..Crazzy day...
  15. Like me, I give spots a few weeks then go back. The only way to find out is do the trip deep. I have friends that walk to the beach and say, look at this and this does not look good ..........then leave. Nothing can replace getting wet... foot work and recon..Way to stay on it...Good Luck!
  16. You much hunt far out deep with so few of targets. Same here, further out the less... but better targets. Nice save on the Gold!
  17. Many Thanks for the Kind words. Thanks Steve, Like you said many years ago... hunting is site dependent. I'm Very Blessed to have a few good locations that if I stay on them something will eventually open. Good Luck to everyone if you can get out and Be Safe...Joe
  18. That is a nice video...Where the family was together and they had the ring back................. the husband and wife were kissing reminds me of the time I did a wedding band return. All was returned and as I was leaving the parking lot I seen the husband and wife kissing. It was a nice memory refreshed by the video. Thanks for sharing...
  19. Not been out in a while since the lock down but things are starting to ease..A Little. Had some good winds Monday and Tuesday so I got wet both days. Mondays hunt one 1944 Class ring then a small young ladies 10k ring. Tuesday rocked with 4 14k wedding bands and 1 10k and several silvers. Silver needs cleaned .......Year to date totals.... 46 Gold rings and 46 Silvers... Good Luck to everyone and be safe..
  20. That is a Killer day there my friend!! Very nice Color!! Wow!! Thanks for sharing!!
  21. Good to see your back in the water! Stay safe and Good Luck! Get us some more Gold to look at...
  22. Thanks You! Some are badly stained so I use Mothers Mag wheel and aluminum polish. Occasionally a very fine SS wire brush mixed with the Mother's using the dremel... Other then that I try and remove the stains only for I like the natural color of them with out to much shine. Also much easier to take pictures when they have the natural look.
  23. Slipped out yesterday for a few hours. This spot is close to home. A short drive and a walk just a little over a mile to it, most of the walking is in the water so I got my workout, with treasure. Love this ring, a big surprise when It came up. Nine grams of 14k with a big beautiful red stone. Another surprise was the silver walker, no date. A silver rosey ........... then the two war nickels. Good luck to all and Be Safe! Gold Ring #39 FTY
  24. Modified Minelab Excalibur's,............. Yes, on the direction of the winds and sea currents..then add in the tides, the matrix of the bottom, and direction the beach faces...So many more factors.......... And yes to the concentration of targets. specially out deep....Each beach has different concentration of targets based on there history.. Just a idea of one of the 10 spots I hunt...2017 I got over 40 gold rings from this spot. It still gives them up but much harder...Interesting this spot was dredged for gold in the 80's, but yet with all moving around it still has given many gold rings....I'm deleting/removing these files in a week also... I think the Fisher "AQ" will do well here... THEN 1950.......................................................AND NOW....2017.....
