  1. Yes a M12-4 pin SS 3M brand, but not on the TDI BH, that one belonged to a friend and I just sent it back. I put them on my excaliburs...I also used the Sournia a few years ago..just like the AQ..but I liked SS better. Tonys endcaps 3rd picture, they are for the excalibur also so he can use a different set of HPs...
  2. I was not real interested in the Disc side of the AQ (Just deep) but I did do a few test with crab pot pieces and the PVC pipe. I wanted to see the AQ would do in something I might encounter. I put one crab pot pieces down..around the PVC pipe..1 inch long. I tested before I put the ring in place and the AQ muted out. As I put the ring in place on the surface, I got a nice hit from the gold ring..as it went down the tube it hit the ring at two inch's but 3 inch's was fading....the odd is ...the crab pot piece muted when by itself but once the ring went from three inch's to four I got more pointed signal from the ring?.......Like it came to life with clipped signal. At 7 inch's that signal changed and at 17 when the ring was starting to fade I got a change in the audio of the crab pot piece like it was going to mute or was it muting already? ..So the ring does have a affect on...I just wish I had went deeper on the ring now that I seen the video...if it would have muted once the ring was out of range that would have told me it was getting the ring the whole time.... I think it will be something all of us will need to test, for my conditions are different then all others.
  3. Looks like a fun time out! And a great spot!! Congrads on the Gold!!
  4. I like that.."Future AQ Owner" I'm close, I got a new cable ..a 90 degree so it's not sticking as far out of the back. Then today I got my 18650 Samsung batteries in...with a charger ...a BMS , 4 lead flat cable and some other things. Got tubing coming Thursday for both battery setups...So I'll have a Lipo setup that did not make the cut.........☠️........then the two I am working now ..one with 4 inline 26650 batteries, then a 18650 setup with 8 batteries..one will be 5000mAh, the other 7200mAh.. the only change so far in plans I was going to use PVC or CPVC pipe but found some clear tubing... the first ones I make I want to watch them close and make sure all goes as planned. Also I got M-12 8 pin fittings so the HP setup is a lot stronger.. I want to make the 8 cell 18650 setup to where I can seal it and just plug in the charger, then the 26650 battery setup to where I can remove the batteries and put 4 more in and put the discharged on charge. It's been slow but all is coming together. I will post pictures maybe this weekend to show the progress...then once done a full report ..on how to.
  5. For sure I'm shrinking...last measurements were 5' 9.5" Sad about that for sure.....The other day I let the AQ do a free fall from water level and found out the rear does not float..😬..battery is the sinker on the AQ for sure. It was close to three feet when he hit bottom........A few weeks ago I had it in some rough waters and that was more where I was impressed. Rods a great guy, I did not have the heart to tell him and was glad he did find it for I had no clue what happened to it..Mystery solved.
  6. I would try it with out the coil...just to see if it's calm
  7. Thank you! They Are around ..I try not think about that to much. Thanks Bill! ..Having the option of either really has made my hunting stronger. So both will see action as conditions allow.
  8. A book of 10,000 gold rings...Harry Fink..Hunted the Chesapeake Bay and Florida..Even before metal detectors he did diving and scooping..I'm not sure if he is still a live but a Legend in his time. Now forgotten by many.
  9. That 14k Half Moon is beautiful.I love the back...Very cool .. Although I do love finding gold and it does make for a happier trip home. I see the exercise and mental side of detecting as the most important..I think the time we were locked in place sure did not help most of us...I gained 10 pounds, but getting back down..5 more to loose..
  10. Yes, I've had PI's before but this one compliments my Excalibur. I really feel I could not have a better combination.
  11. Thanks Bill, think it is a private school in DC...1965 Funny I found a 1964 just the other day...
  12. Here are a few locals, Bob and Frank.......who hunted the same beach's I do now. Back then it was not uncommon for a hunter to find 7 or more gold rings a hunt. For me to find that many gold rings in a hunt is tough..my best was 8 this year, in one hunt..Rare for sure. I do have one more guy who hunted even before detectors, diving...and by sight. (Harry)...He would find 30 or more gold rings a hunt..more later on him. Hide....I guess I do in a way .......for Joe Beechnut is ... not my real name...As far as a legend, I don't see myself as...I'm just Blessed to be in the right spot at the right time...it's that simple.
  13. Thanks Compass!...Yes one of my Hot machines, stock coil for I love that I can run the numbers higher using it. My Skullie head phones, which are extremely loud..in compare the GGA, or Tony's head phones, those run around 91db................the skullies 105+db's, So I can hear things others can't. And I have a few other modifications to the PCB and having the push button on the grip to go to disc to check the target, then back to all metal hunting....But really the big factor is I have done the research over the year and I stay in contact with the beach's l hunt. So I know there history and ......I can't say I can predict them but I have a good feel for them? And let me add, I'm Very Blessed. :)
  14. Seen a opening to get out today but just not the right spot for the "AQ' yet. Come winter I see the "AQ" getting a real good work out here. Today I took the excalibur for I was not sure what conditions I would be walking into. Working in close first nothing..... but Iron and trash..dug a few pieces and decided to go deep, still not a lot of targets. Slowly working my way deeper and parallel to the beach about 600 foot out...shoulder deep I got a couple nickels kind of shallow (2 scoops) then slowed to the snail's pace...Got another signal, broken but being I just got two nickels I'm going to dig all...3 scoops, maybe 12 inch's deep ..surprise...Gold.
  15. That Nox can sniff out the little treasure! Wow! Good day out!
  16. Welcome! To the forum.. Yes, deep targets are just a glitter ...as your getting closer.... they get stronger and stronger. Also I am still learning but you can size, and shape out the targets. The only one's that throw me off are shallow, but lifting the coil does help and Using the edge of the coil can be a big help on sizing shallows also. From air testing and experience I can just about tell how deep a target was once out of the sand. From the size and the very first signal I got.. Shallow micro targets will throw you off, but a kick of the sand or one scoop will tell you if there will be more scoops. What machine are you using now and how..water..sand?
  17. That is some beautiful Treasures and Old!! Very NIce! Love the 1937 Class ring!! Wow! I used the Infinium at this spot and the DF with very little luck, both had issues with the High Power lines being close. Mike and I even did some sifting at this spot..just digging and filling the sifter then checking with the excaliburs. It has been hammered hard..I had this place on the map for a few years now, just waiting for the right machine...The AQ is perfect there and I can smell more gold...
  18. Honestly I'm not sure who rated the 3 foot thing but I would say it would be fine deeper. And I think if someone took the time to do what DEW Meeker does, use teflon tape on the threads of the M-8s 10 foot would be no problem. The coil, battery and control head are Rock solid...
  19. Not much sand movement at this spot since it is up a cove. Nox found it shallow I'm sure, for I lost it on May the 20th which was my first trip out with the "AQ" hunting. I knew I had lost it but was not sure where, Rod answered that question..which I never told him it was the same.
  20. GaryC is correct, I bet we see less then 1% of the hunts like yours, and everyone has them..I consider every hunt no matter how bad or good to be a body thing...Staying in shape mentally and physically.
  21. That is very nice! Surprised the lady of the house has not grabbed it...Congratulations!!
  22. The AQ does have a sensitive area, just like my excalibur with the coil change fitting and the Garrett Infinium LS...... ..right around the coil connector...So in rough or splashing waters your going to hear every little splash (falsing) . I have learned on the excalibur to time my hunting to when the tide will be right below or above. Either the water will be below the sensitive area or above...nothing right at...and now the same goes for the AQ..Come Aug I will do at least one trip down to OC MD ... Also around any rough waters at the ocean I would not take the AQ..I've been knocked down to many times to know this is not the CZ21...The Tank.
