  1. Me, I would hold till June, the "AQ" should be out by then (I would hope). I to was thinking TDI BH but at this point I really need something that is a step above what's out there now. Too me I see short comings in both the TDI BH and the "AQ" but also see several things that stand out on the "AQ" that I think will make it the better choice....Good Luck on your decision...☠️
  2. That's a Beautiful Gold Cross! Very Popular I've noticed to sell, would bring way more then melt. A Keeper it would be for me..Very NIce!
  3. Thank You. Rarely do I sell but it did sale some to pay for the ski and boat. Also I do send in my Silver every year. That covers the gas for travel and the repairs needed to the gear. It did take me a few years to get use to hunting older beach's, so much different then modern beach's. Most of the beach's here closed in the late 60's early 70's so the treasure has had plenty of time to hide.
  4. Good stuff Dew! Love the indian! Be interesting to see how you do with the "AQ" ......also ..........if you have a improvement over the MDT... So you use the MDT all the time now? I guess the fact it has discrimination the Excalibur and Nox would not be needed. And it seems to be deeper.. Me.....I don't see the "AQ" getting anymore gold then the Excalibur here because the Excalibur will be the one that I do reconn with and evaluate if I need the "AQ" at that spot. Going to be a lot of time spent nailing the right combo and I think that will be the determining factor in my end of year totals.
  5. Thank You Kac for the research! Out today for two hours, nice lower tide, Different beach...First target of the day..14k Amber stone ring. Not many targets dug, had a drysuit issue. Small leak...Cut the day short.
  6. Thanks PPP!... Over the past 6 years I've been very blessed to find one beach each year that gives up 40 to 50 gold rings, then they continue to give but only a few gold here and there. I'm constantly watching them for cuts or openings................. 2019 I found my yearly beach in July, it gave up 38 gold in 15 hunts...then it slowed. Just about then I found two other spots, that had given me several gold previous years had opened again. So those three spots have been giving up the treasure since last July. We have many beach's here in the Bay, most were small and now 98% of them are closed.....I research and find the old beach's, check them out, some give, some give later, some never. I can't wait to get my hands on the "AQ". The excalibur will always be my main machine but after I learn a beach's habits and target history the "AQ" will be the one that pulls the deeper gold and hoping the deeper smaller gold the excalibur can't. It will be a dig all machine for me.
  7. Thank you.........I don't think its a dog tag, more of a ID tag.? What you think? Rarely, do I take the time to track people down, if I find dog tags I have one friend that loves to return stuff. He's on me all of the time about this so much easier to hand it to him...
  8. Yes the Bay with it's saltwater and other pollutants eat away at them. Very Correct on the 2 letter message, figured everyone would get a laugh out of that one.. Baltimore transit token, It was one of the best ways to get to these beach's in the day. I'm wondering if you lost your token, if you were able to get home? For I'm sure they did not sell the tokens at the beach's. Before my time but I do have a friend I can ask, I need to go visit him. 92 years old and has so many great stories.
  9. Amazing what a week of the wrong direction winds can do. Keeping tides very high and pushing sand in...Not Good. But luck was with me the last two hunts and I was able to get into a small section out in the middle of no where and dig some treasures. Four Gold rings and eight silvers.
  10. Cygnus? From what I know....It's still coming, but with possible delays.
  11. I'm hoping it's that Silent in the deeper salt water. A very big plus when working with a new "helmet".....head phones. Thank you for the information provided. Both You and Alex T. Seems to be several little delays going on but hopefully we will see it by summer....
  12. Of all the video's this one has to be my favorite. The lack of any other noise, other then the target.....Then..... in Almetal...you can shape, size, and hear depth on the targets............................. AT 30 seconds one can hear the nail at a distance, but faint...this is telling me there is so much beyond that......Not a "here I am dig signal" but one that will need help to be heard. After the two year warranty is up, it's going to be hard not to make changes to the "AQ"...other then the head phones. Come on "AQ"..
  13. Not a lot of targets for three hours.....First Gold a hematite Intaglio Roman Soldier Ring, I believe this one is dated late 1800's to early 1900's. Second Gold ring a nice 14k monogram signetring early 1900's. 12.5 grams. Water is a chilly 41, air temp 46..with N winds at 23 mph. Had the best January I've ever had with 15 gold rings.
  14. The Ski I use for short hopes, around 2 miles. And if I'm going into a congested area. Anchoring the boats in the congested area's kind of alarm people for some reason, the ski they hardly notice....... The boat I use for distant beach's. I have 4 ramps I can launch from in the bay, ....in area's I hunt. Some of the spots can be up the rivers and over 8 miles distance. So those I use the boat...I feel safer. Here is a jetski spot, very tight quarters..so the ski is perfect. Video from late last year.
  15. I'm Waiting and Dreaming also but Opportunity waits for no man. Winds and Tides are shaping up for next week, I'm not going to miss this because I don't have the "AQ"........
  16. That was a great hunt with treasure and some good communication with the Ranger. Just about all Rangers I have come across have been very friendly, even if they were asking me to leave. Which is rare. I would say you really helped clean the place.
  17. I like the straight shafts on my Excaliburs, but with a curved handle which makes it easy to carry to the beach. I do like the control pod under the elbow with a very tight cuff. Gives me better coil control in the water. I keep my cables trimmed short and tight to the shaft, one thing I hate is a sloppy cable.
  18. Yes, Very careful. I have a long Telescoping Boat Hook I use to check the depth as I'm drifting in...and. I do have a nice ladder off of the back which really helps me slowly get off...and makes for a easy get back on. The boat has been a great tool that has helped me get to spots no one else can being many of the old closed beach's are now private and have no way to get to from land.
  19. It took me a few years to get my gear right for hunting these conditions, but as it stands I have no competition from Dec to about mid May. I did guide my one hunting partner thru all of the stuff needed but since I've gone solo I never see him. I will start seeing a few hunters in June, many in July, Aug, Sept...but then it starts to thin out. ..Also most of the beach's here are Private so that makes it tough for everyone to get into them, but I've set myself up with water transport...jetski and boat.
  20. Chilly at the crack of dawn but had a nice Lowtide, found in about 5 foot of water. 13.25 gram 10k Gold Class ring..1965....Airtemp 26 water temp 40....... 23 MPH winds
  21. Thank you LE JAG, To be honest I've got so use to hunt without visibility it just comes natural. I would say of the 5 hours I hunted................ I hunted with my eyes closed 3 hours or more. I find I have less distractions and can focus on the audio better. Thank you for the link, I will look close at it..
  22. Thanks Steve, I've got 15 from this beach since July. It was the type of ring that was popular for that time period. (And maybe that area) Most are not stamped with a fineness mark .....so it dates them to the late 1800's to early 1900's. You really have to look close to make out the initials ......Also took me a second to figure out how to shoot a photo, slanted them downward in the front. I love this beach for there are so many things that personalize the rings that I find here.
  23. Great thread, I'm catching up on all of these since I'm new to the forum. I'm guessing you live around New Hampshire, Maine area since the tides play a big part in where you can hunt. Thanks for taking us along on the ride. And please continue.
