  2. AFN, I don`t know as have not tried the H/ps, H/ps hanging off ears in foliage are destroyed regularly, although without cable may prove OK, get back to you later today on that one. I do know the built in speaker has plenty of volume when turned right up but discerning those subtle T/H changes is somewhat difficult. Will check out Lunks recent posts.
  3. Tis some help there I have an Avantree receiver/transmitter combo and I `ll try the receiver but wires hanging around turn out to be a hindrance rather than a bonus around foliage, so basically I`m on the hunt or will construct a clip on shoulder rechargeable speaker with a BT module enclosed.. The EMI I speak of is natural from the sun I suspect as we are going through some pretty heavy current sun atmospheric layer ionization and its effect is similar to distant thunderstorms on both detectors and transceivers, I have found as a HAM/detectorist but I don`t wish to complicate a simple to use detector but very capable detector going any further there.
  4. X rated love it, aye there`s a new kid on the block, but that thick in the middle brother only leaves it scraps it seems.
  5. Sheppo that lightweight mono allows easy scanning of the immediate rugged banks of those creeks and gullies. GC you`ve nailed it, something is different in the way the 6000 handles variable ground, maybe Geosense is more than just a marketing word. I know as I was working grassed wet ground and the sun was rising I had to hit that noise cancel button often to keep that coil working. Beatup, tis easy to like. Gerry`s training has been shortened up but he`ll have plenty of users to offset and keep him busy.
  6. Ok have spent 12 hours behind the 6000, on old patches (our wet will not let me go further) Like all ML detectors the 6000 is Magic, but then I say that about any detector or coil that puts weight in my pocket, thus I give my review because history is in the past and we are looking forward if you don`t agree stop reading and bug off. At this early stage I list the great features, tis light, no menu just a simple matter to press a button say go from normal to difficult, to change sensitivity, to switch from no threshold to threshold, to change operation channel etc top time saving features. Does it get gold? You bet it does, remarkable sensitivity/depth on "micrograms" and stability and it has found its first patch, in amongst the high grass on a 45deg slope on the bank of a small wash. Am I impressed..... you bet but that is normal for each ML new detector for me since year dot. Only thing at this early stage I miss is no manual GB to give the final cleanup of patches. Does it compete with my ZX combos...... no way it complements it.
  7. GC Aye I don`t think you`ll have a major disadvantage waiting for the 6000, but I suspect from your questioning you may be heading in the direction of early adopters and will evolve into helping your self out in the future, tis the spice of life.
  8. Tis in the past and well and truly under the f.....n bridge truly, thank you, I`ll go outside and try and undo my rain dance that succeeded so well 2 months ago, I`ve a 17 Xcoil Concentric and a 6000 that want to find gold.😁
  9. On ya I don`t take what you say personally, even forum friends don`t do that do they? Actually I don`t see our online discussion as anything but clearing the air from a bad online experience that we were both "recovering " from. I have no intent of moving on unless I`ve moved on or I feel my input is not wanted. To me it is good that we are having this conversation with others online putting in their bits. There is fundamentally a difference between our opinions here, my opinion on the whole X coil drama was it was cunningly blown out of all proportions by motives outside both your and mine but that is not the issue for this thread, that issue is in the past and belongs in the pastas I see it.
  10. Are you my friend, I don`t know you any more then you know me and like you I`ve been ripped off by many as has anyone with our age. A friend to me is someone I can trust and finding someone you can trust takes time. Truly we haven`t got time in life to find out if you are my friend, thus I`ll qualify by saying you are my forum friend. Unfortunately that is the only answer I can give you honestly plus you would be a fool if you believed all who say they are your friend are indeed your friend. We can`t be friends if we can`t have disagreements, for that would be dishonest, thus I disagree with you because I believe the patch cable is simple to make and say so. Chase you believe I cherry picked I sure did, what I believe is not correct from my experience, the rest I went along with because that was Steves perspective but as you illustrated in your first post I sup[ported his point.
  11. Jeff, agree with you totally on two counts. one. don`t make a patch cable if your not comfy or capable of doing so and two I`ve not used a QED so I cannot comment but I will not attack you because you do use a QED and speak positively of it. Steve, of course it is your forum and of course you copped shit over X coil, but you weren`t the only one. I cannot be accused of shit fights on OZ forums as yours is almost the only forum I post on except for one that now seems to have been vacated by shit stirrers. But if my stating my perspective on your forum is not welcome please just be direct and say so, I`ll move on reluctantly because I`ve enjoyed my time here, sadly I`ll exit but with no drama. If my content is not welcome here say so, you know my content as I`ve been here awhile thus are informed. Whoops Chase you got in before I`d submitted, exactly I understand Steve`s point.
  12. This where I stand on X coil, Steve you have made a claim here I believe, no sorry to disagree, I know is incorrect I say know because I`ve made 2 and thus have experienced the DIY part of making the cable. If you are competent with a soldering iron and capable of following the instructions that came with your X coil it is a simple process that simply requires care and understanding of instructions. If you are not competent with a soldering iron and not capable of following DIY instructions don`t do it, tis simple as that. The patch cable to me was a simple DIY operation, but I love and have a passion for DIY To blame someone else because they are capable of such and thus portray it as being such when you prove to be not capable is your personal option. I applaud you for having a go but I don`t applaud you for blaming anyone but yourself, in particular I don`t applaud people who have not experienced the making of the cable saying any more in the X coil threads then it is not for them. The only people I believe who were ridiculed in this saga were the X coil enthusiasts of which I am one, plus the skullduggery and drama came from others not from X coil enthusiasts. My use and success with the X coils as productive gear that raise the Z another level was tempered by my experience since the late 70s to 98 as a hobbiest from 98 to now as this is what I do for life plus catch barras, camp out and enjoy my backyard. The X coils I have, have paid for themselves many times over as have most of my gold detectors and accessories since year dot. What the Z coil Saga on DP has taught me is I can not be bothered giving my views on products on DP again. This is my perspective go ahead folks and ridicule my perspective all you like, the weight in my pocket offsets such and I really think that is the nitty gritty of those who ridicule others success, thus I say to those of you who have not experienced the X coil in a positive manner, who have never used a X coil, don`t be envious of those who are positive about them.
  13. Your strength to be open about this is the kind of strength that marks you as a Special Person, one who inspires. May your lurking here be full of golden moments.
  14. SSSShhhh, you`ll give someone in the Tax Dept. the excuse to tax coffee out of our budget and we`ll lose another pleasure whoops vice.😉
  15. Way back at a dealer sponsored customer meet, I think in the late 80s early 90s, the Minelab representative at that meet spoke in some detail about the then detectors actually detecting ability being advanced on our hearing ability thus we were missing signals, he suggested maybe in the future our sight (heads up ?) maybe used to register signals as well. I believe in a past DP thread I`d mentioned this. Certainly Minelab had their finger on the pulse way back and probably even more now, it is an exciting concept and probably we will see its fruition in a practical way in the near future. This R&D is why I am always prepared to pay big money for ML gold detectors which in reality probably have $100 or less in components, but please don`t mention this to ML we bleed enough now🤪
  16. GC maybe, but you might develop a taste for some FNQ OZ Expresso Jaques Australian Coffee (jaquescoffee.com.au). I would be a sad host if I didn`t ensure you`d tried some of our home grown should you come downunder and why not before? I am sure they could have some heading towards you in the mail. JP, Jaques cater for all us coffee addicts, with pods for your machine. There is no better way to start a golden detecting day, the FNQ way.
  17. Crikey, GC you are overdue for a trip downunder, eucalyptus oil and gold is calling you.
  18. Mind boggling, how the hell!!!! Reminds me many years back last century an old partner (moved on) was visiting the rest rooms in a pub at Townsville NQ OZ on our way home from a Charters Towers detect mission, he came back to the bar with a 3grammer he`d picked up by eye in the toilet cubicle, coz I gave him heaps about it falling out of his pocket but as he was as honest as, someone else dropped it obviously.
  19. Crikey, JP I agree with you, you must be learnin🤪 I`m a non-scrubber if possible too.
  20. Aliens, my Troopy`s first service is next week, if your not too busy in 2 weeks...............
  21. Wow, I seen a few around but never that one, if it had a Troopy in the trailer I`d say it was a proper serious prospector/fisherman for sure, but tis got one of those w`end cowboys Toyotas.... I never said that🤪
  22. He`s probably sitting on the fence, wait til he realizes it`s barbed wire...... .😉
  23. For me detecting has a top future whether the detector has many controls or few, whilst skill in using ones detector is a factor for success, persistence and patience contribute more thus it is not a pastime for the "quick easy fix" type of person more for the dedicated. MLs marketing with the 6000 shows they are going for the customer who wants that quick easy fix in OZ, some will become dedicated detector operators but I see a bigger proportion of 6000s becoming cupboard dwellers then detectors before it. No doubt having a dominant Company with a monopoly making detectors is not healthy although they`ve earnt that position because they produce the best. I ask the question why they have no competition where did Garrett go wrong from producing top gold detectors of the 80s to today, Whites and their GMs, Fisher and their GBs competed brilliantly against MLs VLFs briefly but that`s last century.
