  1. Mine, the one JPs kindly donated to the cause.😉
  2. I wonder whether this tort & retort you talk of MN is a raw "questioning" characteristic that helped create the ability of Australians to take the lead in the niche industry manufacture of detector and aftermarket detector coils. Perhaps it is also that this "characteristic" is being shown by the X coil manufacturers from Russia giving us coils that are superior in performance on the ground if used in a questioning way. I hope X coils current growing pains lead to even better coil technology and maybe flow over into a competitive detector being built to challenge MLs world detector dominance and if I may say so,😉 "control", that competition will lead to even better use of technology and take out "control" which will give us even faster detector advancement. Food for thought
  3. Hmm, you could be right there, but as the great majority of detectors are purchased for recreation use now opposed to say 30 plus years back in OZ when fortunes were being made by some with them as in Africa now, I suspect MLs OZ and US hype is banking on this recreation trend growing. Time will tell, grab a few Codan Shares just in case.😉
  4. With the RV/Camping industry in OZ showing remarkable growth since Covid the 6000 may be an accessory in every ones RV, perhaps we are at the beginning of detecting for gold becoming mainstream. The EQ did this to a certain extent in OZ with coin hunting, the parks a few of us did consistent in are since the EQ hype being done by many. The 6000 with its ergonomics, light weight and easy use may just be the machine to start a new fad. It`ll be sexy and with it to detect gold, the GoG is going to have her work cut out if the hype is an indication.😉
  5. Hey, Gerry do a deal with Klunker, I am sure you could get a partnership going helping him market his golden bird, plenty of downunder managers will be begging for employment once this rebadged Kiwi forces detectors into extinction.
  6. After watching, I was going to comment but Jasong said it all, perhaps ML are giving us a message here?😬
  7. I lean a bit with you Rick, be the first ML gold detector I will wait until i`ve seen how it stacks up against the ZX Combo. I suspect ML of some under hand ruthlessness here.
  8. JoeD, no, no not your bad, mine, as Sheppo has shown I`m a wee behind, although being behind is sometimes a blessing in this fast moving crazy world we live in.
  9. JoeD, had to google Blue Def to see what you meant, now I see, we are just a wee bit behind (or is that ahead) in that stuff but tis getting us too. DPF is currently OK here, but not for long. Go back only 10 years diesel was deemed better for the eco than petrol/gas, but their all doomed, whilst I`ll probably not live to have an all electric powered 4WD, I can just drool over their capabilities once refined with an electric motor on each wheel, no diffs, gearbox etc hanging underneath to get caught up, be able to climb an electric power pole, well nearly.😉
  10. I have used sat nav with aftermarket android vehicle fitted and smartphone with Oziexplorer for yonks, to me they are as important as detector/coils to maximize gold "retrieval", although the Toyota Sat Nav in the Troopy is a proprietary unit thus seems not compatible with android, as a sat nav for getting around the cities and on bitumen it is friendly and easy to use plus its radio has great AM remote reception , thus I`ve fitted my old android setup as photo shows to have the best of both worlds. My troopy is more a work vehicle than a RV, tis what I do for 6 months of the year since back in 98, tis a lifestyle I wouldn`t swap for anything. Strangely the Troopy has central locking but no electric windows, which is something less to destroy on close encounters of a tree kind. Swegin, in OZ basically the Toyota Land Cruisers Series 70 are that popular in our mining, farming and fishing primary industries they haven`t changed their rugged format since 84 despite the rest of the markets switch to "creature" comforts, diesel, reliability and ruggedness comes first by far plus we do not have a comparable vehicle manufacturer industry in OZ to "protect". But Health & Safety mandatory requirements are pushing thus our 70 series LCs are probably heading for extinction.
  11. Used a few handheld pinpointers over the years, above one for last few years is the best by far for me. Shown in backpack mounted where tis out of way for most digs but when required for deep digs is handy and saves a lot of digging big wide holes for the big coil digs.
  12. Good vid for Cabin Fever while your "thawin" or for downunder here while "solidifying" from being melted with our summer.
  13. Aye Simon is gaining his wings in style, on ya Phrunt.
  14. GJ, bit like the peacock and the bull joke, the peacock was getting on and couldn`t fly to the top of the tree anymore, the bull told it to try eating its "waste" for a bit, it worked suddenly the peacock got to the top of the tree again but along came the farmer with the 12 gauge and boom the peacock was dinner for the farmer and family. Moral of the story BS will get you to the top but wont keep you there. Crikey Gerry you`ve opened a can of worms.................. good stuff take the starch out of everybody..............
  15. Good rant Rick, but if Minelab comes up with the goods again tis hard to knock them, they are without even a tiny doubt the best thing that happened to us gold chasers. Russia maybe where a competitive detector may come from judging by X coils innovations and ability, now that`d put the cat amongst the pigeons and bring competition back.
  16. Love it, our spoilt Detecting Worlds being screwed by an OZ Company, might be near OZ`s last International Company but tis our Ozies homebrew Company.................. Meanwhile the savy ones are out there killing it with Minelabs Flagship Gold Detector with a Russian Superior Coil on it. On ya Gerry dunno about shedding light on your dumb arse theory but tis on the money, love ya style your good enough to be an OZ maybe even a QLDer, tis said satire is the lowest form of wit but maybe that`s in upover not downunder. Buy the Worlds first Idiot proof detector come on down suckers.
  17. On ya JR, give manual GB and extra deep a go too, tis not for everyone but for an old campaigner it`ll give you even more rewards for extra patience. The concentric another powerful addition to X coils range, what wonder coil are they going to come up with next. Note the "speaker" on side.
  18. Rare meteorite found by gold fossickers sold to Geoscience Australia after lying undiscovered for 4.5 billion years - ABC News https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2021-03-18/qld-gold-fossickers-sell-meteorite-to-geoscience-australia/100015142
  19. Let`s cut to the chase, send a 6000, that`s about what that golden eggs fate would be downunder, that`ll remove all stress ............... 😁 Crikey even us old codgers are hyped up at the prospect of becoming Easy Experts, plus once it`s been crushed we`ll only argue about whether the 6000 could find the golden egg. Definitely keep it and send a 6000...........😁
  20. My definition of tall poppy syndrome from many years of observation as an OZ "tis mostly paranoia of those who consider themselves tall poppies" my observation is it exists in all human societies. I doubt anyone "dobbed" Erik in he did that himself but he is not the lone ranger most of us do similar naïve things as we "learn the ropes". I know I did many moons back.
  21. Yeah, MN it is us fellas at DP that decide the price of gold, has EVERTHING to do with DP ...... to prove my point it will double in the next 10 years and if it doesn`t it means DP members have been too industrious and taken too much of it out of the ground. Tis easy we... nah... all of youse stop digging it out of the ground...... immediately....... downunder here there is a weight imbalance.... so if youse folks upover leave it in the ground gravity will level us up...... we`ll be back to the flat earth before Copernicus and all those following geniuses mucked it all up...... rereading this I think that is about as logical as any explanation given by "consensus science" which is the current in vogue form of science. So you folks upover stop buying ML detectors, let us downunder buy the 6000 only and the imbalance will be sorted in no time at all.
  22. Gold as an investment is relative to age, if you go back 20 plus years history shows it is wise to hold, if you go back further as I do to when it was $65/oz to todays $2600+/oz (AU) tis a stellar investment. But that is for my era and whether that pans out for the younger generations as Jasong says time will tell. Tis like all our perspectives and attitudes, governed mainly by time. If it doesn`t hurt have a few golden eggs in your basket.
  23. Depends on your age and financial position, if your young/mid age it will only go up in value, compare what its weight of gold would buy say 20 years back to the same item today thus it is a top investment, so only crush if you need the $s. if your on a bit age wise crush and enjoy the $s, maybe a big plus to crushing is once it`s gone you`ll have to find its mate to replace, spur you on a wee bit. If still undecided just send it to me, I`ll suffer that quandary 😉
  24. Yeah GC this is how my detecting has evolved in my environment to now and why the Troopy is set up as is. It is our environment that decides how our individual "style" evolves and we each live in different environments thus develop our own styles, I know as I age and can no longer do the amount of walking that I`ve found necessary, I`m going to have to modify that style yet again maybe revisit those more easy to get to old patches and get the pieces I`d missed with better techniques and more advanced detectors. Never a dull moment with this crazy hobby we are into and who would have it any different.
