  1. I don`t understand why if someone steps up with the cash early that`s unfair to those who don`t, tis a risk they take and sometimes is rewarded. Although with ML it is hardly a risk and has always been rewarded, even though they paid a premium in the Zs case and that may prove so also in the 6000s case. MN I suspect tis all part of MLs marketing strategy, here on DP the 6000 hype has/is dominating big time and why not is only a 5 year happening.
  2. Righto, from my perspective with a few weeks of 6000 use and 6 years of Z use, the Z not only gave us 40% more depth it gave us sensitivity to surface/near scraps the GPX`s before couldn`t compete with. The X coils come along and gave us still more depth and sensitivity. There will be many that argue that but they haven`t walked the walk. That level has been lifted again with the 6000, the depth it is giving on scraps is remarkable and seems unbelievable as was the Z when we first had it to hand. Those depths on scraps are 40% better than the Z/X combo which are 10%+ better then the Z with ML coils, here I`m comparing the production spiral wound X coils, I have not had enough time to properly compare the concentric coils depth in the field on actual undug targets simply because I`m having a ball with the 6000. If the 6000 with bigger coils performs as the GPXs before it did with bigger coils I believe the Z is no longer King. From my use the 6000s depth on scraps is due to its ground handling capability being superior to all before including the Z, and I cannot see that will not be so with larger coils. Here I look forward to Gerry having one in hand and reporting if its timings can compete with the constant VLF. For the Z to be King again it would have to have that the 6000 ground handling capability, perhaps ML have that covered in a software update. Aye ML competing with ML, question why do they still market the Z as King? I am not selling my Z with X coils anticipating ML have an update in the works.
  3. Torus goes into pair mode after switch on, just pressed the BT button on the 6000, external speaker shut down, H/phone icon showed up on 6000 screen and paired AOK, after that each switch on Torus was there automatically. Easy as.
  4. Nah not a fish, have to get ML to make a 6000 fishing reel...... 🤪
  5. Just spent two days with 6000 and Aventree Torus, WTG they pair up effortlessly, no lag, hang around your neck like they are glued there, signal response is magic no lag with there volume turned well down. I used them st to speakers and left the ear buds recessed in there cavity, If they prove reliable they are the bees knees' Now the novelty of a new buy has worn off, the 6000 has found its 2nd patch quiet a large one about 150m long 50m wide so far, all deep subgrammers on a gentle heavily grassed flat that I`ve considered had to have gold and have run all detectors over since year dot, the 6000 the only one that has scored. Only bitch I`ve got is I`m going to have to go over all my country again, I`ll be sufferrrrrrrrrrrrn big time ..............😉
  6. Mens Women's Legionnaire Cap Sun Hat UV Neck Protection Summer Fishing Fish Hat | eBay I`ve this one on the way (coz it`s available in OZ) just in case the Torus band is not the go.
  7. Not sure the Zs dead yet, ML are clear they still place the Z as King, to me it no longer is but perhaps ML have something up their sleeve, well they`ve always got something up their sleeve. A software update for the Z, heh JP is that why your stiill swinging the Z?, you`ve updated software your trialing on yours haven`t you?. Please pass on to ML from their most dedicated "addict" DON`T exclude us X coil users from the update..... PLEEEZEEEEEEEE
  8. No hard work involved at all, all hard play, good fun for me Gerry, I mean no offence to any religion but the GoG is/has/will be my mistress. I ask who could ask for more in life? Not me. Now I`m bugging off to the GoG on an o`nite mission.
  9. Your question now the 6000 is here, is get a 6000 rather then additional coils for the Z. Will be much lighter to add larger mono coils for the 6000 when/if they become available rather then DoD or concentric coils for the Z. As you know I have the luxury of both ie. a good range of X coils for the Z and a 6000, my dilemma is I`m having so much fun with the 6000 when? will I use the Z again but having been around awhile I know the day will come when ML supersede the 6000 and on and on it goes.
  10. Wow MN only 45million years ago, that author explains it in easy to understand terms. But is really all above me, something for the Geologists, I follow and read as much as I can of Ian Plimer`s (OZ Geo) geological writings of my backyards forming years hoping to find some clues to help in the gold quest but just wandering about randomly is all I can manage, it de-fragments my "ram"😉.
  11. Well as per JPs advice I gave the H/Phones a go, and JP is not wrong, whilst the speaker is great the H/phones add another level. I doubt I`ll use the speaker much and am hoping the Aventree Torus is the go, they certainly look and sound good and I doubt will be a problem around the neck once one gets conditioned to them but whether they are a replacement for the ML 100 only time will tell. I hope so as I don`t want to go back to H/phones but no doubt I will as tis no exaggeration they add another level to the 6000. Certainly not knocking the speaker. Your mentioning the Whipstick brings back some memories, in 98 spent a month there but the first day didn`t go well, set up the usual FNQ camp, lovely large tarp up over the tent held down with ropes and steel pegs, all destroyed about a hour later. Found out about Victorias crazy all seasons in a day weather, would be called a mini cyclone up here in FNQ, the press would be all over it and insurance premiums would get another hike. Long story short, got it all back together and had a magic Whipstick gold month, but I`ll always remember that intro weather welcome to Victoria, tis no wonder why you folks head up our way in winter in droves.
  12. There you go once I would go along with informed geological only prospecting areas, but time has taught me without the 5+ years of geological learning by geologists I am lost, plus time has taught me even that is not enough, the geo I call on has told me way back, he can tell me why geologically I found gold where I have found after it was found but he cannot tell me specifically where to look tomorrow or not to look with certainty. Geologically my country was under the sea 300 million years ago then it got folded up when our land run into another land, it got folded up mostly on a weak line, a fault line and created what in Oz we call the Great Dividing Range, but 250million years ago in my area a series of volcanoes erupted and just west of that Great Divide and spewed out 3000 cubic kilometers of overburden into the mix, with the accompanying 250 million years of erosion etc what do we really know geologically, that is only the last 300 million years , the earth has been here 4 billion years. The last 50 years we have used gold detectors using history and geology to guide us, but those areas are flogged, to find more virgin areas we have the option to remove those history and current geology knowledge constraints and broaden our search, remove those blinkers, using the most potent surface prospecting tool man has ever had... todays gold detectors, expand your horizons and accept our knowledge is very time limited or flog old likely ground.
  13. I`m erratic as, all over the place, tried raking, chaining, roping, dragging a boot etc etc... just over that creek/hill/mountain keeps calling.
  14. Crikey mine are sitting at PO waiting for collection a few 100 ks away, I`ll be droppin my nuggets then............🙄
  15. Never run from a pig or a dog, they`ll have you for sure. Yep a wee bit of Kingswood Velcro will keep the band in place, we`ll probably start a world wide fashion statement and be leaders in the new trendy thingo...............🤪 Arnie will be wearing one in his new save the world movie. That`s it .... I`m off gotta have a gold hit to sane up.
  16. You are not hijacking my thread Kingswood, anything pertaining to the 6000 or gold is welcome. Like you I`ll go with speakers over h/phones, wild pigs are a bigger threat than wild dogs over here in FNQ, unlikely as it sounds, the wild pig packs are even a threat to the wild dogs. Torus bands post tracking shows I should have by end of week, be out using them next week and see the go.
  17. Yeah, tis maybe an option I will revisit, wore such in the days before the WM12 when H/phones were the go. Firstly but the band sounds like the go, quick spray of gold flecked paint and I`ll be able to flog it off to JP if it doesn`t do the job.
  18. Crikey, what have you started Lunk. Aventree and Minelab will get together and we`ll have a heads up unit on a band in line with Jasongs recent post. Sound and sight detecting maybe with a little scent producing an occasional coffee sniff for a quick caffeine hit.
  19. I suspect ML know that not in just ergonomics that the 6000 is the new current King, thus they have something up their sleeves, a software update to get the current Z up to speed is the go, or a new lightweight, more ergonomic Z as second choice, Steve and other testers might have a prototype already (I`m an OZ, tis in my DNA to av some wacked fun 🤪 pleeeze put down the axe Steve). Cunning buggers have no competition so to stop it all being boring (and keep shareholders happy) they make their own products compete with each other.
  20. At this early stage of the 6000s release I am going to be bold and throw caution to the wind, the 6000 will do what no PI or ZVT will do and maybe replace your VLFs except where discrimination is needed. Time will tell and I look forward to your findings.
  21. Aye Mn the 15x10 X coil as all the X coils I`ve used lifted the Z another level, but time and new tech has brought us the 6000 which lifts it another level again, watch out when ML introduces Z2 with that 6000 tech and lightness, just wish they`d allow for aftermarket coils as they once did.
  22. Another couple of days behind the 6000, this time with the BT ML 100 headphones. They pair up effortlessly, perform brilliantly, H/phones take out that EMI that is introduced with the speaker, obviously the speaker is being over driven a bit to get the volume up to levels that allow the speaker to be heard in windy conditions. The volume is much like the volume on the Z, tis more then just audio gain. Anyhow the ML 100 headphones with their own volume controls, bring those faint signals in clear and stable as and further adds to the magic of the 6000. But I`m looking forward to trying out the Aventree aptX Band and stop those soggy ears that h/phones cause, being a long time user of Steve`s Insane Settings I go for Sens Auto+ and got to say those of you that are hesitant to use Bogenes settings will soon change your ideas, as JP says it "smashes those tiny targets" and at insane depths. Look out detectorists when ML pack the 6000 features into the next Z or maybe a software upgrade for our existing Zs.
  23. Rather then go down the cords on the shoulder track with multi battery charging, I`ve ordered a set of Aventree Torus as per Lunks link but through Aventree Australia, these give the option of using the retractable ear buds or using the speaker function on a band that simply you place around your neck. Once I`ve field tested them on the 6000 I will post my findings in this thread. Time will tell if this is the go but it does seem a great concept, I thank Lunk & DP for making me aware of such.
  24. AFN, the headphones have their own two button volume control. MN that Al Xter is a bit alright but I`ve found manual GB is a feature that helps especially in benign river and creek sand for depth, also another option for patch clean up along with Bogenes. Which reminds me the no audible threshold (Bogenes) on the 6000 is pretty good, on all of the positive undisturbed signals I switched to it registered, audio was a little clipped but definite, I used the speaker not the H/ph so I expect on those very slight threshold changes it will not register. Those Aventrees that Lunk found are starting to sound like the go, initially I thought you needed to put the ear buds in the ear but not necessarily so apparently MN are they the Avantrees you use with the Equinox?
