  1. MN Nothing to be scared of, the 19 is magic, just that open web design, not a criticism just something to work around.
  2. As yet I have not got gold with a warble with the 19,(unlike the 14) except a slight warble on a deep lead shot, also I have not dug a reverse signal that was gold, all gold have been clear but quiet low-high-low signals. Also other then a few small 1 grammers I have considered I should have got them all with the Z14 but I know I and another had flogged this patch with the Z14 & a 5000 with a 14" new age coil. I suspect from this the 19 is not just a larger coil but a more advanced one as well. But tis only early days, these are just my early observations.
  3. Checked out your skid plate Dave, nice and simple, will go with it, have ordered some 1mm polycarbonate. BB, whilst it is hot in FNQ we don`t have your salt problems to contend with, thus am really getting to like my time behind the 19. It is proving to be much quieter then the 14 but not much less sensitive, thus feel that quietness is deceptive. Upping the sensitivity only seems to induce false noises from bumping grass and rocks, the skid plate should help solve this. Just silasticed the original skid plate on to stop it cracking more but also to seal it. Accumulates a lot of debris underneath, perhaps this will stop this happening to some extent.
  4. Not wanting to hijack the current "where is it in the Us thread", Phoinex, So far I`ve managed to rip the front transmit coils rubber bumper off on grass and have cracked the original skid plate also catching grass, plastic tape is not the answer. I`m very interested in your skid plate mod. Must do something before I rip original skid plate right off and go bare, which may not be so bad. But from our OZ 4Ms I`m feeling like the lone ranger re having success with the 19, although I suspect there are others, must be. It is not much less sensitive then the 14 and like you say with the assist arm is fairly easy to use, also the hipstick does a top job handling its weight,( with the bungy going through a ring fixed just under the LCD...thanks Fred) so much so it is my coil of preference on the flats at present. I am very positive it is not a dud, just ZVT is new tech and we "need" to learn how to use it. Be good to see the reports on it on this 4M once it gets about the US.
  5. Well Schiara, I suspect you`ll do well with the 19 because my use of the 19 has me firmly believing it is new tech and needs to be used as such, I have found so far used at JP conservative settings it is a winner, wheras the 14 can be used at much hotter settings. ZVT tech is only in its infancy, but is a producer.
  6. If it is for real I will not hesitate to be that third party, no worries, but don`t hold your breaths waiting for the review. Maybe Chris might be shown one next time he goes driving about town, and he`ll beat me to the first sighting....................... But aside from all that it would be the bees knees of all PIs, and certainly what we`d all love from Santa.
  7. Be lovely, a PI detector under 2KG in weight with performance of the 5000, uses same coils, for 1/4 of the cost. I`ll have one for sure...........but how do I get one? None as yet shown on Goldsearch Au website.
  8. Yeah, I think Johnno has summed up the majority of the feeling of the 19 downunder. It appears if you compare it with others re. air tests or nuggets reburied you are going to be disappointed, not so for me out on the ground on undug nuggets I`m very happy, mine is well in the black in the ledger. Will be interesting to see how it goes in the US.
  9. Yeah, sort of with you on the open web, but for me a solid coil cover would solve that, after a few yards working in the grass mine accumulates a "birds nest", the way current coil covers clip on receive coils clips catch pieces of grass. But as it`s performing sort of put up with this, will stop and glue a thin bit of ??? plastic over once it stops picking up weight. If the bloody thing weighted twice as much I`d still be a happy vegemite at this stage. Good fun, look out for a increase in those "imaginary" signals we`ve grown to love with the 14".
  10. Ok, I am having a ball with the 19", getting to really like it. I suspect it is a more advanced coil then the 14", or perhaps it is just its size but it is as quiet as (keep settings JP conservative) and powerful. You have probably had those signals "disappear" with the 14" and you`ve had to widen out your hole to get coil in (signals still too deep to pick up on side). Well get ready for the 19" because you are going to get more, especially with the deep smaller bits around 1 gram. These occurrences or digs really push home the message air tests are totally meaningless when in the real world. Now to talk ML into making us say a 11x12 or such that if possible is as quiet as the 19"....................... maybe 60% lighter I never said that............
  11. Tis a problem in the suns glare for sure, but myself I very rarely use, basically maintain the same settings through each session, but for those who use the GPS function certainly would be annoying. A good colour transflective screen with droid OS, Oziexplorer mapping, export & import GPS data & maps would be the go for me. Maybe??????? in the future.
  12. I found the swing arm a boon to control the 19" sweep, have never used the swing arm before but combined with hipstick it tames the control and weight of the 19". Probably will now use it with the 14" too. Doubt there will be many true users of the Z that wont love the 19", it certainly quietens the ground I hunt considerably, but it is good to read positive reports of the 19". Shameful what is going on in our OZ forums, such vicious negativity.
  13. Crikey, if true suspect he was blown away by finding such. Sort of ???? can understand he would have been feeling on top of it all, like spaced out with his fortune.
  14. Wow that is a product that would have sold like hot cakes back a bit, imagine 40 years back. Certainly a need for the SDC, and not bad to have in case the WM10 or 12 give troubles. Crikey Tech advances are magic.
  15. You are on the money Dale, I go back a bit and expand on your comments re negativity. I know of no one who has achieved their goals with a negative attitude. You will note one thing about this 4M, Steve promotes positivity, he has stated a fair while back he doesn`t like to associate with negativity or something to that affect, that is why this 4M is a 4M people who are positive thus successful or have the potential to be succesful with detectors visit. I guess what I am saying is positive people associate with positive people, wheras our OZ 4Ms seem to be a haven for negative people who are intent on knocking anything positive. I know I`m being a bit negative here by knocking them, but I`m cranky about it, it achieves nothing.
  16. Got you DDancer, initially I considered the 19" coil was a totally different beast to the 14" not so sure now. I`ll be trying same conservative settings next time I use the 14". No the holes weren't big arse holes, once I`d cleared the debris and couple of inches of the surface to get the coil closer to the targets, the 19" centred nicely, targets were a clear signal then and I went the rest with a 6ft bar, holes from then on were only 1.5ft in dia, varying a little as I moved wash rocks, otherwise hard dry clay. Gold is eluvial, on a gentle slope had not got into the creek, very little alluvial gold in country I detect now. No cap rock as in WA nor calcite, thus no need for a massive hole. Love the (fairly recent purchase) Whites TRX for this as it has the best depth right at the tip I`ve encountered in a pinpointer. I`ve rarely used a pinpointer on gold only for coins but I grabbed it when I went back to vehicle to get the bar. Worked a treat. Interesting tit bit, the transmit tip of the 19" (protrudes forward and rearward of receive coils) picks up the signal as you get close at reduced sensitivity, handy feature, just poke down hole with coil standing up or as close to as you can get.
  17. OK, I`ve revisited a patch found with the Z 14", flogged with the Z and a 5000 with a new age 14" coil,(two of us) revisited it with the 19", spent 9 hours for ziltch with my hot settings I used with the14", went back this morn for a 3 hour detect with the 19" used JPs conservative settings and I`m stoked. Is the 19" worth its weight in gold, you bet. Tis magic but this old fella is knackered, pick and crowbar holes in 45deg heat at 8 in the morn. Don`t feel sorry for me it was bloody magic, Thank You JP. DDancer we may need to rethink our settings, especially volume, operating the Z at low noise may be more productive, certainly has shown to me to be so with the 19", reminds me a bit of the VLF hot or conservative debate days. Pinpointing was no drama, dug directly over nuggets (coil centre), finished off digging them out last couple of " using pinpointer and pick point carefully.
  18. Crikey, KL, what are you letting loose in OZ. Put him back on his lease quick.............
  19. You beauty Paul, temps dropped 20 deg here already. Think I`ll mount a LCD screen on the Z and watch that as I swing in our downunder summer...............
  20. DDancer, Further "playing" with volume, has eliminated what I thought might be machine variance. The 19" may have illustrated a folly in the way I have used the 14", but that is easy to prove or disprove by simply going over the old ground with the 14" again with the conservative settings. I do know that during the first few months of using the 14", I used the default settings and did well, when scanning some of those areas again with higher volume, lower threshold and no audio smoothing I only picked up small sub grammers, that would have probably been picked up with the default settings had I simply slowed down. But at this stage it does appear the 19" requires those conservative settings, even HY as JP points out is giving better recognition of deep targets than I found general did on the 14". Basically we are just going where JP has been, but this also points out the Z certainly is a amazing machine and so much is reliant on our individual hearing as Dale of the GHs has spoken of and illustrated. That individuals hearing ability was also so for the VLFs and the PIs, no doubt ones hearing deteriorates with age which just adds to the mix. Exciting times as always.
  21. Many Thanks JP, the 19" is a diff beast than the 14" for me. With the 14" I just walked onto gold, (just thought I was a legend.....) no drama but the 19" is taking more to get myself up to speed. I think I`ve caused this by having my volume up to even 16, worked with the 14" but not with the 19". I can see I`ve gotta retrain myself and get a better understanding of ZVT and importantly listen to the young fella........
  22. Hang in there Paul, I can feel one coming on. Yes I take my hat off to the GHs, just love their videos but they have nothing to prove, neither does anyone else. Only real way to prove the 19" is do it yourself, I suspect in 6 months all the drama over the ability of the 19" will be buried as was the case of the Z originally. I bought one on MLs past machines gold producing ability, as I did the 19", I know I wont be disappointed in what the 19" comes up with either. It will pay for itself many times over. Go the GHs
  23. Tis true about air test, but would be good if that ground was as easy as air to get out of the way to get at the nugget. Dug a bloody 50kg waterworn rock out of hard dry clay, top of it down about a foot, bottom about a mile, moment I hit it I knew it was the signal, but no I had to get it out to confirm the bloody foot of Gibraltar wasn`t under it. Lucky it was only just over 40C, and under a shady tree. Bloody crazy hobby we whoops "some" people have............
