Gold Seeker that is a top read although I`m going to have a few rereads to absorb it all. No the host rock is limestone almost marble mainly so acid would no doubt destroy its appeal to me in short time. The gold was on 70% and silver on a whisker below 30%. Photo is highly optically magnified, specci only 3/4" wide, 1.5 " long and 1/2 " deep, the photo showing only about 1/2"x1/2". My brag piece since finding. Mamma Nature at her best.

This is my favourite, got with a Bounty Hunter RB10, back in the 80`s. For two reasons, it`s uniqueness and tis my most unique. Probably only a couple of grams in, I`ll never find out as to crush it would be sacrilege.

Yeah appears the other threatening detector manufacturers have been kept out of the competition, is XPs turn, hope they have it to be a David. Ver 4 must be a corker. I love the Deus, and the Z. Maybe a compromise, swap their no wires for whatever it is ML is going them for. Ohhh... but I`m a dreamer. What, as customers, can we do to register our displeasure with such, I`m not going to boycott by not buying MLs products that`s for sure?

When the 2200 came out (first PI with auto GB) I was loaned a test machine and sent a email review as requested, stating it was a OK machine but it`s Auto GB cancelled out gold, as with time we found all the auto GBs PIs did and once setting GB in auto switch back to manual to search. Regardless I bought that 2200, but since then I don`t get a reply from emails to ML. Minelab make by far the best gold detectors so I guess they believe they have the right to be somewhat arrogant. Tis the same here in OZ, SS tis their nature.

Interesting ML want a jury based trial, maybe should be made up of detector owners only. Note also"perhaps' just a coincidence complaint filed about when Deus ver 4 was to be released. Desperation.......... what has ver 4 got the earlier versions haven`t? Maybe ver 4 has an advanced GB that solves VLFs poor ground handling capability.

SS, have had some success with extra deep, with machine full bore and no audio smoothing, ground noise and EMI is much less. Also it is handy to switch to extra deep to pinpoint and recover nugget quicker, signal whilst more mellow is picked up over a smaller area of coil, even down to 1/2 grammers

Fred, for top computer fixes I`ve found the grandkids are the best, just have to bribe them, to spend the time to fix senile old grandpas computer. Drive em to ice cream parlour.......... job done............

Nah, think that`s XPs new ML killer coil. But then again..............has ML bowed to pressure and gone wireless?

A "reliable" source has informed me one of this 4M members has received a Z 19" coil, names are withheld to protect the guilty.

Mn try Bogenes, I know turning the threshold down seems counterproductive and against all instructions but on the Z with smoothing off, sensitivity full you may be pleasantly surprised. Definitely misses gold, but have found it comes up with the deep goods on some noisy patches, especially late in the day towards beer oclock when the minds GB is wandering.

Your on Paul, according to my son I leave more behind then I get, those hobbles are needed desperately, but from your past posts, think you get the wanders bad too. Crikey, DDancer thought I was totally tone deaf, the one that couldn`t tell trash from gold but you`ve made my day. After all these years am not the only one that hasn`t "magic tuned trash ears" but have met a few that were pretty good at discriminating via ears.

Just love those warbles, and Freds imaginary signals, very rarely are they not gold. The auto GB on the Z is a light year advance on the Xs, anything repeatable investigate for sure. But as good as the Zs auto GB is, it is not infallible sometimes manual GB is the go. Every mission is a learning mission no doubt, it is a magic machine, just have to find a good set of non-metal hobbles

Pinpointer is the go, I use a thin screwdriver as a digging tool, push it in you`ll know when you hit the coin, with care you`ll leave little sign that you were there.

I have the TRX, don`t use it for gold only coins. Use no sound, just vibrate, leave it at high sensitivity and desensitise (with button push) on each target. Doing this tells me if the target is coin size or larger same ID junk, thus stopping the problem of making a messy hole on park lawns. Like its feature of being able to use AAs or 9v too. A time saving tool, wouldn`t coin shoot without one.

This is magic, I mean your sharing of your notes, your diary. Tis reality, takes out that "romantic myth" that it is just laying around in OZ and makes that spiny anteater and other such finds the real treasure of OZ. But having said that, it was just laying around and still is but not as plentiful and where???????? Many thanks for sharing Steve, not just with us your current members but for the future readers, perhaps we should leave some evidence of "living in the electronic gold detector age". We are very privileged to live in this era.

jasong I think you nailed it, for ML and innovation and us prospectors, Mr. Candy is the key, we`ll keep him you can have the Hoffmans. Hopefully he is also successful in ensuring his genius and vision carries on.

DJ, Am in OZ, have found gold with the Deus, it handles the mineralisation as well as any VLF I`ve used, but the Z is my much preferred prospecting detector by far. The Deus I use for coin chasing mainly, I love it for that job, to me and the country I prospect VLFs are not a gold detector I use except in trashy areas, and that is very rare. Thus it is rare I take the Deus with me when prospecting, the reverse is true also, I don`t take the Z when chasing coins. Please don`t misunderstand me, I know in some places the VLFs are king amongst the gold, just not where I prospect.
