  1. Our press are having a field day, with heaps of negative comments but amongst all of that was this gem. Brexit explained with food.
  2. Yes, tis what I felt good satire, gave me a good laugh but to you folks over in the old home land is a serious subject, just my warped sense of humour. I hope all the alarmist news is over done and things settle down.
  3. I`m disappointed, thought the Federation of Independence Detectorists had a lot of say in the Euro bloc.
  4. Crikey, the mind boggles, what was his dog and his Sheila doing in his bedroom with him? Good one SS. Lucky twas only a ear he lost.
  5. Yeah tis true, if you don`t obey the visa rules, the authorities make it very difficult to come back again, but I don`t think you`d have a problem as a Nurse getting a work visa, especially as you come from the US. But as I`ve had bugger-all experience on this matter, a check out on the OZ govt visa website would soon sort this out. Ya got a good set of teeth????????????? Bloody rules & regulations!!!!!!
  6. Because I`m also refired I look forward to showing off my bit of OZ, we have the time and the inclination, no only NT have a strict initiation rite, here in NQ ours is a wee more relaxed, but I wont give it away , surprise you once your here................. Only kidding, just be relaxed and enjoy tis all. Crikey I`ll be surrounded by Nurses, my daughters a nurse, my daughter in laws a nurse, not to worry after being a grease monkey under the Troopie for a bit, you wont look much like a nurse.
  7. Yep, Discs on front, drum on rear Toyota Land Cruiser Troop Carrier. The 2H diesel whilst you can`t kill em, are lazy donks, ie. can`t pull your hat of your head. Not for people who like to travel in a hurry especially uphill etc. Yes, can get drums & rotors machined 1/2 hour away, no drama. We`ll be able to nick down to Hinchinbrook fishing hut (5 hours away) for a few days when tides are right and get you onto a barra with a bit of luck. Lots of tourist destinations in NQ, some just a day trip away eg Chillagoe Caves 1 1/2 hours away. About a 6-7 hour drive to JPs country, couple of days plus to BBs, tis a big Island. GHs just down road a wee bit.
  8. BB..... Nah, not quite all of us are over there, I`m staying here to turn the lights out. But if you didn`t leave that lovely yellow stuff laying around everywhere we`d stay home. But BBs on the money again, WA has more & easier yellow country, prospector friendlier laws and of course plenty of us top OZ Banana Benders to lead you astray. The gearbox doesn`t need work once your aware, tis easy to work around, certainly not gone as far as bumping into solids. So that just leaves the brakes & rego.
  9. Yeah, my old Troopies a 86 model, bought new then(very experienced gold finder, just give it it`s head and presto your on). Put it off the road in 2012, got 400000km on clock, 2H diesel donk still doesn`t burn oil, it was the first model with the 5 speed box. Which had a problem every 120000 or so the 3rd gear synchro ring would have worn enough, unless you were careful you could end up locking in two gears, a bit of rocking would get you going again. Crikey Paul might take you up on that mechanicing offer, have a empty town house (we live in a shouse on farm, which was only a w`ender, but have settled in nice permanently, Shouses are much more liveable then houses) anyway you & Sheila could camp in house. I`ve done the change of synchro ring last time back 120000km or so, no big drama, would change rear c`shaft seal on donk and rear welsh plugs whilst at it. Bit of luck main prospecting Station may be open again for fossicking again next year (currently building tourist facilities) and we could nick out there on odd day or so and score some weight. Crikey you`ll definitely be Refired as opposed to Retired. Now what does one call a Yankee, that turns Banana Bender(Cane Toad), Cockroach(Mexican), Sandgroper, NT`er etc etc ??????????? Crikey mate you`ll be here for the 17 State of Origins (footy), tis when us Cane Toads give the Mexicans their annual hiding....... Night time entertainment on the TV.
  10. Well if I wasn`t such a frigger the old Troopie be available too. It`s on the gonnagetaroundtoit list, needs brake & gearbox overhaul and sits dejected in town shed next to van. All bloody MLs fault for bringing out the Z. Crikey that Sandgroper BBs a bit cheeky, but he`s on the money, Nurses, Teachers etc are in demand over there. When we were in Marble Bar, back last century, local tried to talk the Teacher Missus to stay and teach, I did too, but you know they never listen to us blokes, reckon we`re full of it......wisdom that is.You could be working amongst that lovely heavy stuff. Just stay away from NT, you`ve gotta drink a carton, wrestle a croc to the 3 count and civilize a local Shiela all before Brekkie, before they allow you to gain NT citizenship. I never said that.
  11. Fred, 6months?? The lad`ll be rooned for life, he`ll be applying for citizenship and be a QLDer before you know it. Tis only a local call to JC up here in NQ.
  12. Have a Getaway Off-road pop top caravan, might be what you want, only about 12ft, 2 single beds. Will email you a photo if it is suitable, not interested in renting but loaning if you make a vow to the moon & the stars to tow on LH side of road , you`d have to take out Insurance as I only have it registered. Something to think of.
  13. Ah, when whatever restraints ML have in place that is stopping the aftermarket coil makers are relaxed or removed, suspect we will see the advances made in coil manufacture that we are currently seeing in the X coils. Imagine if it is possible a mono type coil on the Z and before that idea gets howled down, the impossible today is tomorrows possible. Crikey the backhoe will no longer be an optional accessory
  14. Yeah, and ya`ve gotta be careful ya don`t hurt yaself running into all the "don`t swim, crocodiles here" danger signs that have sprouted up hiddly piddly all over NOZ the last 20 years.............
  15. Recall a evening in Timber Ck (NT) was 39deg C at 9PM (during summer) under a ceiling fan whilst eating evening meal. When NTers visit NQ they wear a light coat in our Summer. She was a saucy Shiela, John. Capice no.
  16. Must be a environmental grant available to kick start such a project, no way would road dredging be banned then.
  17. Crikey, this thread is a tear jerker, I read any more I`ll have to send ya`s some of the real stuff. Only joking!!!!!!!
  18. I`ll be brutal, Paul, heed Dales advice, June/July/August is the time for NQ. Even this May is a hot one, Son and I baked on our little backpack mission, came home a day early because we run out of drink water. I always plan on 5 litres a day/1person minimium, but wasn`t enough due to heat. Sweated it all out but had a ball, Son found a wee patch 50m from camp on last day, bit of a bummer looks like the GOG has deserted me and gone over to the Young Fella. I got relegated pick duty-----you know dig hole, cover back in and "jealously, rage, rant etc etc" watch the glee on his face, but in sympathy he left me a few scraps to detect. Now I`ve gotta put up with a smug Young Fella, (teach em everything you know and still they know nothing!!!!!) Bloody unfaithful Shiela, the GOG is. Wouldn`t be dead for quids, Magic.
  19. On ya Paul, you keep the Z, tis a magic machine Yeah got my ears on, LOL, Septembers not bad, getting warm plus the barras are getting a wee hungry by then. Just spent a week down Hinchinbrook, only one legal barra and it was barely legal, but a good feed of mud crabs. Off on a backtrap trip with son for a few days tomorrow, into billy goat country that the Goddess of Gold has been promising has it just laying around. But she`s one of those Sheilas that is always teasing. But I`m excited and it will be a good walk into new country plus time with the Young Fella is precious.
  20. The pots well stirred over here in OZ, ML detector dealers are as popular as........... Bit like trying to get tickets for a grand final 1 hour before kick off. I guess says it all about the Z. A popular dealer over here had his Z up for sale just after purchasing, had both his knees replaced. Just couldn`t get the coil away enough.
  21. Looks like we are going to have to interrogate Fred a wee bit, maybe even torture him with irradiation from a 19" coil, with evidence coming to light looks like he`s holding out. Suspect his downunder contacts are coming good, plus KLs being a wee silent lately, plot thickens. What ya say Sherlock?
  22. Yeah that makes me dirty, but the young fellas need a head start. That`s why us old fellas are at the bottom of the pre-order list, don`t matter how many order after us we are still on the bottom, Crikey I`m definitely dirty. Time we advanced KL some seed capital, to build the ultimate detector, trouble is I suspect his R&D program would be really R&R. But I`m sure he`d look after us old fellas and give us a leg in, well maybe he will. You sure you haven`t inside info Fred..............$@%&$%#@
  23. Reading through this, makes me miss the 5000 a bit, the coil options, the settings options but then I remember those trailing cords, being tethered to your detector, nah the Zs the go for me now for sure and after reading BBs post, not sure it`s so insane to use the Z in manual, or are we all insane????? All Steves "fault" for daring to even suggest his insane settings and then publishing them. It seems, if on uneven ground where you cannot keep a consistent air gap between coil and ground, the Z runs somewhat smoother in manual with an occasional quick track to get its GB right. But importantly the poke containers got a rattle more often.
  24. Hey, Paul yeah like you the Zs the future for me, wireless really makes it and of course its ability. Mitchel, Not real sure about research, as have been down that path and country I`m scoring in now there is naught to research about. I have no formula there, guess could be said is dumb luck, but I prefer to call it stubborn persistence, a bloody lot of foot work but not unwelcome footwork, tis magic even without the gold. I think the most important attitude is a confident one, even arrogant attitude, sort of I`m going to score might take weeks but I`m going to score. AussieMatt, I suspect the aftermarket coil manufacturers are kept out of making Z coils by patents, thus to survive they had to come up with coils on the Xs that compete with the Z, I know they have done that. It is speculation on my part what motivated the new age coils (or rumour) but not speculation on the ability of coiltex elites (the only ones I`ve experienced). But it is all good for us as there is no competition to ML other than from aftermarket coil manufacturers in the top line gold machines. Like you I believe if the Zs performance can be likened to the SD2000 performance regarding new tech than we have magic times ahead. Bring on the 7100. Don`t think we are wrong.
