  1. Paul...... Hillbillies? I think in OZ we are called Red Necks, or those who live out beyond the black stump. Mod is a bit rough but works, gotta do something to keep up with the 7005.
  2. Crikey, we`ll have to have anti-aircraft guns installed on our detectors.
  3. Back a bit I followed, Professor Hestor and watched how you folks and Paul helped get him detecting, then a later thread we were discussing the weight of the GPZ and I commented that I was having trouble with right arm & shoulder, next a hipstick turns up in the post compliments of Paul. Well that got me thinking, what can I do for Paul, not about paying back a debt or anything like that. I reckoned a few samples from OZ would "hit the spot" and give me a lot of pleasure as well. Paul you are real "true blue", I wont try to explain that OZ saying, John Williamson (OZ C&W singer) does that in his song.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cohkaLM3AjQ Camp spot here anytime, chuck a prawn on the barbie have a xxxx or Fosters, bugger all Shielas, but plenty of kangaroos and wallabies.
  4. Many Thanks for that Paul & Chris. I made one from a piece of Al sheet, shaped as per original one, it is working good, no drama.
  5. Yeah gotta agree, tried that crazy outrigger myself, bit like trying to sail a cat up a creek that`s only mono wide. But the hipstick, tis a beauty, although broke the belt plastic "clip" other day( am a wee rough on gear), hour or so with a piece of 1/8 Al sheet, snips and hammer and back up to speed.
  6. Bit like comparing chalk and cheese. An example, the GPZ picked up clearly a 8 gram solid at 22 inches in a sandy gully (low mineralisation) the Deus struggles to pick it up at 12 inches when reburied(not clearly) Not knocking the Deus, as a VLF machine it is out of its league compared to purpose built machines like the GPZ or PIs for gold. I would not seriously consider a current VLF machine for deep gold whilst I have a GPZ, but for shallow gold hung up on gully walls where its weight, thus usability comes into play, then I swing the Deus, and I suspect but have not yet tried it will shine when searching trashy oversize heaps from alluvial miners.
  7. Have found with the little I`ve used the Deus on gold here in OZ (GPZ is THE productive gold machine) it is very capable. Have had ground "ID" through from 76 to 90s. I think its strength will be in notching the odd hot rock out, but the GPZ keeps me busy, thus haven`t spent enough time on the Deus. But I have used it enough to know it has potential in its GB capabilities, but I guess like all VLFs it lacks the penetration in mineralised ground the PIs and GPZ give us. Brilliant on coins in trashy areas, a detector that sets a new standard with its wireless innovation and lightness. The new version 4 with its proposed elliptical coil may be the go, once its available. Certainly will have applications on gold once we realise this potential, read - more get out there in the gold fields. Its lightness detecting steep gully near vertical sides around rocks is one such application, after swinging the GPZ for 6 hours that is a welcome relief on sunset. Not a detector to be dismissed on some gold fields I feel, time will tell.
  8. OZ is a big gold field, and I think in percentage the area of saturated alkali soils that produces compared to the "normal" ground that produces, would be much the same as anywhere in the world. I suspect the "story" that OZ gold fields are different to others doesn`t take into consideration all the ground that isn`t "hot" that produces. But it adds to the romance of OZ gold I guess. It is a lot easier to cover ground that isn`t rugged and covered with grass, thus the "lure" of those open salt flats of WA OZ. So while Minelab have probably distributed ferrites to OZ first, I suspect a lot will be like mine, "somewhere in the Toyota". I doubt they will be used by the majority of GPZ prospectors, in fact I haven`t depressed my fast track trigger for months, but this is my take.
  9. 40% better then the Klunker of old.
  10. Don`t like agreeing with you RC but tis true, I`ve got mine running a modded "Bogenes", most of the time when in productive areas have the sens. at 20 and thres. up around 23 without aid of ferrite ring, even though I have one. It handles my ground AOK. Anyone care for all those ringless ferrits running around?
  11. Crickey, I thought he was ambidextrous.
  12. Could be a "she`ll be right" problem by Minelab, but SS I was given one by my dealer months ago, no prompting and I`ve not used it, no need GPZ runs AOK in my country. So bugger Minelab, slackos, PM me your address and I`ll post mine over. Gotta keep you out searching for those virgin patches.
  13. Was just going to post, from a PM he sent he`s as cheeky as, but you can see that from his post. With SSs golden eye on him he`s got no choice but be good.
  14. Got the Deus for coins, but had this "brainwave" it`d solve pinpointing with the GPZ, think I`ll have to be content to scratch around, although that finding bigger nuggets might be the go. Yeah never bothered with a pinpointer neither (although bought a ProPointer awhile back & never used), but the back bent easier then. The ProPointers not bad except the size of gold the GPZ gets stretches its practicality. I think Steves, cutdown GB2 might be the best option, but here in OZ would have to register it as it looks like a lethal weapon and would be sure to get unwanted attention from PC Pubic Serpents.
  15. Recent trip decided to carry the Deus at rear through belt, comfortable and no drama carrying, remote in pocket (off). But on turn on of GPZ, very unstable lots of "EMI" could not tune it out. Took Deus off and walked away 20 yards. EMI gone GPZ back to brilliant norm. Guess I should have expected it as the Deus coil is constantly on standby looking for its remote, thought it would be a ideal pinpointer, certainly put paid to that senior moment in no time.
  16. John, A quick trip back to OZ, and a perv on a mob of Sheilas, will relieve some of that English ails or is that ales.
  17. No wonder we have gold downunder, you fellows use your pans upside down, all falls our way. Lovely scenery whatever way you look at it.
  18. Sheila can GB the 7000 40% or better than any other user. No worries with her, and she`s real mean with a pick. Paul, good to hear from you, trust all went AOK. Am only on fresh air having a bit of fun with OZ English. Explain a wee bit, Fosters is a OZ beer of International repute, probably disrepute , Sheila is a OZ young good looking woman. A barbie is a outside cooking appliance. It is sort of a National "pastime" for OZ blokes to stand around the "barbie" drinking "fosters" and talk about "shielas".
  19. Probably shouldn`t talk about Shiela like this as she`s also fine and upstanding. But she is the ultimate female, gorgeous, 18, never ages and has complete access to a pipeline to the brewery (her Dads Mr. Foster), everymans dream women, sort of. You may have to have a bit of a yack with SS about this. Be gentle with him SS.
  20. If anyone writes such a script I`ll be amongst the first rush to buy it. The fellow who developed Oziexplorer has looked at it and shook his head. A GPS with screen on a gold detector will be standard once users realise the usefulness of this.
  21. Ok, Ok falsely accused. With a bunch of Sheilas and a pipeline to Fosters, you`d be nuts to come downunder. Listen if I bring a barbie, a few prawns and me own glass can I join you? But it was a bit touch and go, first photo of Goldeneye did show it downunder.
  22. Interesting, Mcklunkers in denial. Maybe SS with the golden eye can get to the bottom of this.
  23. Not about gold but same difference, of interest perhaps? http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-19/mystery-surrounds-mcdonalds-coming-soon-sign-simpson-desert/6631678
