JW, It should be stated that where Flak lives he could be visited by a mountain lion. There are several in his area that are tracked with radio collars but I'm sure they would like a chicken dinner! Other pets can be on the menu also.

JP, We are all anxious to see pictures from your archives. We don't need to know how recent they are. I'd also say that making solo or family trips out into the bush or desert is sometimes necessary social distancing. It also helps to be showered with copious amounts of UV light. Several of the people on this forum who live in campers and trucks are not violating rules on open land here in the states when they prospect. They are complying with the stay at home rules because they are not a lockdown. Heck, some of us are stretching the definition of 'home' to include our claims and getting out without as much success as yours. Keep it up. Mitchel

The service department is very good when you contact them. They were stretched a bit thin before this year with the shows. You had to make first contact with someone out in the field if you called on a Friday. A couple of times I didn't get a call back until Monday and then you would get the RMA. They would keep it within their system of employees. This new marketing effort is a bit of outsourcing to Wooly. That is part of the email address with a /minelab. I sent an email to Wooly and got a quick response from them wanting to set up a phone call to speak about my 'brand management' and what they could do for me. It seems that Wooly and Minelab marketing have a high hurdle to jump before their users are willing to share with them because of being 'ignored' in the past.

Are you signed up on their website? I assume they sent me this email because I'm a registered owner or I signed up for the Treasure News/Find of The Month a long time ago but I very rarely go to the site.

Thanks. I read the other thread. The Wooly administration of it and the connection to the social influencers is confusing for someone that tries to avoid all things 'social' on the internet. I'll speculate more on why Minelab doesn't consider North America a sales target for gold detectors or something like that. It goes hand and hand with their idea of not making the smaller coil for the Zed.

Think about finding a rock with some rust on it. The outside of Lunk's meteorite is kinda rusty. Here is a link to one of Fred's hunts. As you can see none of the rocks are as dark as yours. My last Gold Basin trip I found one little meteorite in the 'gold area' but when I went to the 'meteorite area' I looked for a couple of hours and struck out. When we get past the restrictions I'll stop by and show you some that I've found or meet up with you in the basin. Mitchel

JP, I can read what you say and believe what you say but I can also see that it would be a hard concept for me actually hear. Of course to the trained ear these concepts and descriptions have meaningful responses associated with concepts. I would liken it to bird watching. If your ears are good and you hear a sound or a bird you have never seen then you are without a clue until you see it or see a dead one or someone else shows you or teaches you. I'd have to take a chance on setting the Zed up in a certain way and just dig everything, not knowing what I am hearing. Any repeatable is a digger! Mitchel

Where was the location of the first stop on the private claim? Where was that place near the road in the pasture? I drove by thousands and thousands of pastures where alluvial gold may have made its way. If the fields of Victoria have never been prospected or metal detected and only the forests and gullies were targeted there will be lots of gold still to be found. Maybe the maps would prove me wrong. What percentage of private land is virgin would you suspect?
