  1. You deserve it, GG. 👍 Good boys should always get the toys 😏 The display screen is definitely easy when you learn the icons. Simple yet elegant. And color! 😀 It serves no purpose other than to display battery condition and sensitivity setting. It turns off when you are searching. Button has 3 modes, on, off timer and settings on the end of the expanding bar. Shouldn't be long until you have the timing down. Good luck with it and happy hunting!
  2. 🙄 Well ya got me. 😀 Did that post later in the evening so I must have had a senior moment ðŸĪŠ My XP tests were with the pointer connected to the remote and sensitivity at 50 🙂 it did almost as good as the F-Pulse, I still don't know exactly why I don't like that thing. Maybe because it's not loud. ðŸĪ”
  3. I'll definitely go back, right now the 9" is on the WSA-6 Master with a waveguide. 😀 Might work out ok in that field. ðŸĪ” I'm going to hit the water one last time soon, then I'll be able to use the 9" in my other places. 🙂
  4. Yeah, I will probably take this challenge... 🙄 After all I got an AAM for latrine cleaning duty above and beyond the call in Turkey... ðŸĪĢ I dared the Captain to say that at the award ceremony. 😎
  5. Did a quick old fashioned ruler air test with 5 (6) pinpointers, for fun I tested both the old and new Quest X-Pointer Max, the AccuPoint, F-Pulse, MI-6 and the trusty old carrot. This is the sort of crap the YouTubers do, so accept these results at your own peril. 😁 Grabbed an old rusty square nail and used my silver and gold rings: Here are the results of this test: Nokta AccuPoint 9 sensitivity Silver ring 1-5/8 Gold 18k 1 -3/8 Iron nail 3 ID ferrous 1 3/4 New X-Pointer Max Boost mode Silver ring 2 Gold ring 1 1/8 Iron nail 2 1/8 Older X-Pointer Max Boost mode Silver ring 2 Gold Ring 2 Iron nail 3 Fisher F-Pulse High sensitivity Silver ring 4 1/2 Gold Ring 2 1/4 Iron nail 4 7/8 Garrett Propointer AT High sensitivity Silver ring 2 1/4 Gold Ring 1 5/8 Iron nail 3 1/4 XP MI-6 50 sensitivity Silver ring 3 1/4 Gold ring 2 1/2 Iron nail 4 1/8 All measurements are in inches on a 1/8 scale hardware store wooden ruler. As you can plainly see, overall the MI-6 and the F-Pulse hit on the targets at a greater distance than all the others. Some of you may not realize that when you use the MI-6 integrated with the remote and headphones, it does not default to the highest sensitivity. I always have mine cranked to 50, even though it sometimes comes up hot I've learned to ignore it. That has to be saved on the remote and the WS-6. It's pretty close to the Fisher! The AccuPoint did as expected per the manual, it went to a ferrous broken tone the closer it got to the nail. The Quest pointers both went ferrous right at the distance. This is a cheesy test at best, and not indicative at all of performance "in the wild" ðŸĪ” Roughly I'd say the F-Pulse does indeed show it's prowess as the only PI in this group, but the MI-6 is a fairly close second. In every way I personally prefer the MI-6 to any of them except for the ferrous discrimination. Some other thoughts: The AccuPoint has the best rear cap of all the pointers except for the metal screw cap for the Fisher. Of course time will tell if that great cap leaks, but I rarely use a pinpointer in the water. I've already broken one MI-6 cap attempting to twist it off. ðŸĪŽ I keep spares. 😀 I get a kick out of the little "digger" front cap on the AccuPoint, I don't dig with my pointer. ðŸĪĢ The simplicity of the AccuPoint settings system is incomparable, literally the best. The on/off is going to take some getting used to, but I don't mind the placement of the power button at all. The only thing I'm used to that the AccuPoint doesn't do is keep the flashlight on while the pointer is on, which all the others allow you to set up. A lot of times that's the only way I know to turn it off ðŸĪ” I'll get to some in-ground tests myself, but I think the OP did a great job describing them. 🙂
  6. I'm only going to add anything I think, I live in a place which has ideal conditions. No mineralized soil. I'm not sure where the OP lives, but I liked his observations and comparisons with other popular devices so I bought one. Serious Detecting got a bunch of these in the bags, They shipped me the 13" XP coil for the D2 before most got it, so I think I can trust them to not send me anything "Gray ". I was given the option to get one now or wait for the boxed devices. 😁 One thing I'm already impressed with is the sturdiness of it as the OP mentioned, and the easy on/off of the rear cap vs the Carrot and the MI-6.
  7. Got mine today, same deal as another got. No box but everything included. I'll do some air testing and in ground testing against the Carrot, the F-Pulse, the MI-6 and the Quest Max. @MFF18B did such a great job reviewing this pinpointer that I'll add any observations I make here. 🙂
  8. Dare I say that all of my permissions are like this ðŸŦĒ at certain times. You can see by my sunset photo that they turbo tilled the corn stalks in front of my house, it's flat but it's like walking on a paper dump. I'm not complaining tho! 😅 This part of the USA is mostly glacial deposit of sand, clay and silt from the runoff. Very few rocks and no minerals to speak of. This farm was a dream, beans harvested, cover crop spread, and tilled to work the barley into the ground. In the spring they will have to kill it before it gets too established. Some of the land harvested earlier already has higher grass because it's been warm, a few more frosts will halt it. But all that glitters... ðŸĪ” We were allowed to dig around the old home place, and that was the real giveaway that others were there before us.
  9. I agree Ghound! That is what made the difference, finding a coin I've not found. I'm kind of spoiled from my "find/minute" digs elsewhere, this one is going to take some fortitude. 🙄 It appears that my predecessors spent a lot of time there, and know where to look themselves.
  10. Thanks Dig, The farm is nothing short of excellent condition-wise, easy non-mineral loose dirt. Some of y'all would kill for these conditions, but it's so big it's not really suitable for a grid search which would produce the most return, and render it done. 😀 I'm sure I'll return to it but I do have other farms that IMO have much higher potential than this one after this survey. 🙂
  11. Thanks Doc, Well yes... And no. 😀 While one find proves Colonial activity and others are in line with the family that has owned this place since, it's like another of my permissions that has to be thoroughly checked for hot spots. This farm was apparently not a center of social activity or much to do with horses, which signal better finds like buttons, old jewelry, and coins. If my suspicion is correct it was cherry picked for all the easy silver coins, so finding iron patches and digging some of it out will be de rigueur. 😅 From the date on the 2ÂĒ piece it would indicate a probability for at least a Trime, a very difficult coin to find. 100 acres might not seem like much, but you're talking 4 million square feet ðŸĪ”
  12. Thanks for this work, Colonel. 🏆 I'm pretty used to the menus after almost two years of owning the D2, but I'm sure I'll be using it as a quick reference from time to time. Another thought would be to do one for the WS-6, it's both equally complicated and confusingly different ðŸĪ”
  13. Thanks Colonel, that was one I didn't have, so I'm happy to get a good one. It was a solid 85 like a (good) Zincoln, memorials come in at 90, and IHPs for some reason are 80. The digging conditions were so good, it's really sad that I had to go to such great lengths to find anything. There is no mineralization. That copper scale plate was over a foot deep.
  14. Thanks kac, We thought so too, but I'm pretty sure this place got hit really hard in the past. It should have produced a lot more in less time than it did. ðŸŦĪ I'm afraid it will only give up random finds after lots of searching. I think I know who was there before.
  15. Got this permission a while back but waited for Chase to be able to make the grueling 2 hour drive to search it with me for the first time. A huge 100+ acre farm that has potential, it is part of a very old land grant. There are another 100 acres nearby as well. We got in about 4 miles of walking, up and down hills, across slopes, and pretty much covered the outer edges. Chase had to go but I stayed a couple hours more. Honestly with all that coverage we didn't find much but I did make one find that was on my "Why haven't I found this yet" list: An 1864 2 Cent piece that looks good on both sides. It's the more common "Large Motto" variant, in pretty good shape. We both agreed this place has been heavily detected, but I managed to get a few things, it's a lot of walking. Here's all the stuff too big to put in a display box: A large spring scale plate, a brass hook fragment, a belt buckle I think it's from the 70s or 80s, a rope cinch or pulley, and some sort of brass finial with a square hole in the bottom. Here are the keepers: A dog tag from 1955, some broken brass tab that I think may say "Jan 6", one really old button and an aluminum two hole, a copper memorial, two clad dimes and an IHP with a completely obliterated obverse. The 2c coin is next to the brass ring I got as I was leaving. Lots of trash today, no iron but lots of junk. Got a great fall sunset while cleaning my gear. 🙂
  16. A great silver day, NC. 👍 There have been a few instances of having to have a plan B where I am, most recently because the farmer showed up and started spraying, he literally chased me out with the grasshopper. 😅 Then he planted winter wheat so that place is off limits. ðŸĪŽ Cool foreign coins as well! Hell yeah! 🏆
  17. Good one NC! 👍 I just made the hole bigger ðŸĪ”
  18. Nice hunt, Dan. 👍 I've heard when you start digging sinkers you're where the gold is, but that's a lot of sinkers! 😀 Good on ya for not getting tired of it.
  19. I hope @GB_Amateur will stop in on this one, but I'll invoke his appearance. 😀 This coin has special attributes, and is fairly rare. 👍
  20. Excellent find LC, looks like Sensitive FT has its merit. 👍 Congratulations on a rare and incredible coin. 🙂
  21. Unbelievable treasure trove, TTT. 👍 what detector(s) have you located all this with? You really found the sweet spot with the low tide, congratulations, and I hope you aren't done. 🏆
  22. I've only been using a modified Beach Sensitive program on my beach and now water hunts. I'm hitting dimes at a foot (30cm), and caught a tiny gold ring (size 4) in the wash with the D2 and no waveguide with a strong signal (47 ID). It was not shallow under the sand, and at least 4" of water above it. The coil wasn't in the water when I first heard the ring. I have salt sensitivity at 6, tracking on, magnetic accept, 0 offset for full tones, Silencer 0, and Sensitivity at 89. I set Reactivity at 0.5, and don't go more than 2 if there is a lot of iron junk. Audio response at 6. I run bottle caps at 5 because when I don't I dig bottle caps. I don't hear much noise at all when the coil is shallow with water rushing over it, and none in the water. Could any of your diving gear be causing an issue? My settings are a bit bump sensitive since V2, but the tones are not as loud as a find. ðŸĪ” I'm new to water hunting for the most part so just putting this out there. I find what others miss!
  23. Thanks RVP, I tried to make it look worse but the wind was ripping through where I took the pic. ðŸĪĢ Hadn't put the warm stuff on, so that photo is zoomed from the parking lot. 😁 3 foot waves aren't much for the intrepid, but add 42 degrees, a current, and 20mph winds and you think twice. I've tried getting to the trough on warm days on Atlantic beaches with 3-5 foot waves, but it's like getting mugged. Don't know how the water hunters do it. ðŸĪ”
  24. I guess with all those jellyfish the kiddies don't drive 'em into the surf ðŸĪ” Thanks VL, it was a tough day but I'm better for it. Glad I can still do this stuff.
  25. Thanks Cap'n, It came out for good just before my coil died. 😀 Got a chance to warm up some getting all those dimes. 89 after 89. 😎 Noticed that copper memorials ID higher than clad dimes now.
