  1. Unbelievable treasure trove, TTT. 👍 what detector(s) have you located all this with? You really found the sweet spot with the low tide, congratulations, and I hope you aren't done. 🏆
  2. I've only been using a modified Beach Sensitive program on my beach and now water hunts. I'm hitting dimes at a foot (30cm), and caught a tiny gold ring (size 4) in the wash with the D2 and no waveguide with a strong signal (47 ID). It was not shallow under the sand, and at least 4" of water above it. The coil wasn't in the water when I first heard the ring. I have salt sensitivity at 6, tracking on, magnetic accept, 0 offset for full tones, Silencer 0, and Sensitivity at 89. I set Reactivity at 0.5, and don't go more than 2 if there is a lot of iron junk. Audio response at 6. I run bottle caps at 5 because when I don't I dig bottle caps. I don't hear much noise at all when the coil is shallow with water rushing over it, and none in the water. Could any of your diving gear be causing an issue? My settings are a bit bump sensitive since V2, but the tones are not as loud as a find. 🤔 I'm new to water hunting for the most part so just putting this out there. I find what others miss!
  3. Thanks RVP, I tried to make it look worse but the wind was ripping through where I took the pic. 🤣 Hadn't put the warm stuff on, so that photo is zoomed from the parking lot. 😁 3 foot waves aren't much for the intrepid, but add 42 degrees, a current, and 20mph winds and you think twice. I've tried getting to the trough on warm days on Atlantic beaches with 3-5 foot waves, but it's like getting mugged. Don't know how the water hunters do it. 🤔
  4. I guess with all those jellyfish the kiddies don't drive 'em into the surf 🤔 Thanks VL, it was a tough day but I'm better for it. Glad I can still do this stuff.
  5. Thanks Cap'n, It came out for good just before my coil died. 😀 Got a chance to warm up some getting all those dimes. 89 after 89. 😎 Noticed that copper memorials ID higher than clad dimes now.
  6. Thanks Colonel, Had to change tactics, I'm learning about winds and tides. I was hoping the NW wind would flatten the river with the tide going out, but like the last time it was blowing like that, I was confined to shore. This time I thought of the other beach, it was an hour trip to get there and I didn't want to waste it. 🙂 The whole point of these forays is to get in the water. It's not worth hunting the beach at all.
  7. Thanks Joe OBN, I almost went home 🤣 The waders I have are heavy and the warm(er) water kept my feet from going, but the wind tore my hands up. I wear black gloves so the sun can warm them, but when wet they merely cool. I am ever impressed by the experience of people on this forum, and appreciate the advice and attention of my mentors more than they realize. The Deus 2 is a great detector, but it's more the decision to get the coil over the good stuff. Risk has its rewards. 🙂
  8. Yikes! That is awesome. 👍 you are one of the few I admire for your spots and your skill. I'm just starting to get the hang of it, at least I got a ring today too. I'll be happy to get a couple more gold ones before it's too cold to do it. 🙂 Got a new relic permission yesterday, but it's not completely clear yet.
  9. Thanks Dan, Wasn't going to post this until I discovered I did better than I expected to. 😀 the last digs were 5 of the 8 dimes in one rocky spot, then my 9" coil gave up, apparently it wasn't fully charged. Scoop kept bouncing off the rocks. I'm just really starting water hunting, something to do until my relic fields are done. This is more a chronicle for those who may be on the fence about trying this, but I can see now that if you really want the goods they are in the water. 🤔
  10. Absolutely brutal day today, it started out at 42, and the wind kicked up to 20mph on my way back to hunt the water at the beach. The river is still about 50 degrees so that wasn't so bad, but I have Reynaud's in my hands and feet, so if they get wet they turn white and when they warm up the pain is pretty rough. I wanted to hunt the water at the big beach, but the wind was sending 2-3 foot waves into it. It's not very apparent in this picture, but the river was angry. I was hoping for additional low tide due to the wind, but here was out of the question. The current was strong as well with the outgoing tide. I opted to go to another part of this beach further south, it's kinda protected, but only renters and locals go there so I had to lower my expectations for anything great. At least the water was flat. There is a ridge where you park that blocks the wind down on the beach, and the beach angles westward so the waves go right on by. There are breakwater rock piles which also helps. It may look sandy but under the thin veneer of sand is black muck and rocks which made scooping really tough. Where there aren't rocks there are those pesky pebbles. 😵 I had to keep stopping to warm up my hands, again there were lots of jellyfish. The wind kept blowing my stuff over when it managed to dip below the ridge, so in 6 hours I didn't get too much, but I went home happy. I got very little trash: Just a few tiny bits and no iron or aluminum. Today's haul wasn't stellar but I got some pretty good stuff: Over two bucks in modern coins, a black Tungsten carbide ring that fits me (a brassy 89), and I got a 72 and dug the sun pendant and really tiny chain. It looked like zinc when I stuffed it in my pouch, but I got a surprise when I cleaned it up! Both the chain and the charm are 925 silver. I didn't expect that but the day ended up a good one despite all the difficulties. I was hoping for gold but pretty much didn't think I'd get any in this spot.
  11. Energizer Lithiums are not rechargeable, but they last a long time. 10 years means 10 year shelf life. These are all the rage now, look for 1300mAh in a single pack, don't have time right now: https://www.amazon.com/HW-Rechargeable-Batteries-Micro-USB-Indicator/dp/B0B9G9RQG3 They do not last as long as an Energizer but they are rechargeable. Caveat: Lithium batteries do not have the same drainage curve alkaline batteries do, in fact my deer cameras have a separate calculation for them. They go and go and go, and then dead. Bring a spare 😀
  12. I'll just leave this here... 🙄 Thanks, Geotech. I'm a relative noob myself, but this forum is loaded with so much experience I just expound wild theories and get my butt kicked. 🤣 It's all good.
  13. Thanks Cap'n, I'm in the process of getting it back to her, I emailed the class contact this morning with directions to have her contact me. If I don't hear anything soon I'll get more aggressive. Who knows where life takes a person 🤷‍♂️ I always cringe when the kiddies at the beach go running in the water, or exclaim "Look, I caught a Jellyfish!" Lots of scenarios where that doesn't turn out well. These jellies aren't particularly harmful, and I have seen many people in the water, but the crying and screaming tells all. 😬 I warned a few moms about them. I had to wait for a cooler morning to wear my waders. By afternoon when it got up to 85 it was pretty draining, so I called it a day. Next week will be colder so it may prompt another visit. 😅 It will be nice to have most of the dangerous creatures take a long winter nap, we won't be at that point anytime soon. Last winter we got one day that was -9, but I haven't seen any accumulated snow here in 2 years now. Sad you're snowed in already, I was hoping for a few more tales! I'm waiting for the farmers to get done dressing the fields. Some are planting winter wheat, some are just throwing cover crop. Hoping it will be a productive season for everyone.
  14. Thanks Joe OBN, There was a bit of boat traffic later in the morning and other noises in the area, but it was quiet for a while. I really appreciate the D2 now for its better performance in EMI that other machines, unless I was in single frequency I wouldn't have found the ring where I did, probably why it was there 🤔 The new water program I'm working on stays pretty quiet even in the wash, it is a tad bump sensitive but the noises are at reduced volume, I also know them when I hit something with the coil 😀 I took my Beach Sensitive program and added a few tweaks to it, mostly discrimination at 6. Don't know if you have a Deus 2, so this may be meaningless 😁 You're a legendary water hunter so I appreciate your comments. 🙂
  15. Thanks Colonel, I definitely plan to return it, I discovered the freshman yearbook for that year, and located the only person with those initials. I'll be "digging" into it this week 😀 I hope she will be happy I found it.
  16. Thanks VL, The waders are 1600 Thinsulate, extremely warm. I have to wear thick wool socks to keep my feet from getting crushed by the weight of the water. I'll have to get lighter breathable waders for the warmer months. There are others that water hunt there, last year I had a couple who were all up in the spots I was looking until I said something. 😵 I was lucky to have no competition this time.
  17. Thanks Compass, TBH I've been watching you heavy duty water hunters lately and knew I had to give it a go, the water is where the gold is. I'm glad I don't have to deal with big waves there, don't think I could stand it for long. The boat wakes are bad enough. You can see on a windless day the water is flat at slack tide, so timing is everything. Regarding the Deus 2, if you poke around a bit you'll see that since V2 it got much better on gold. The reason I personally prefer it over the Equinox is that the IDs are very tight for a 99 number machine, the XY graph screen is very useful, and overall I trust it more. It's also lighter and easier to grip for me. With the 13" coil on the beach I have to laugh at what I find people missed, particularly quarters and dimes at a foot, but it's a lot of digging just for clad. Most of the hunters I've seen there use the Equinox and now the Manticore. 🤔 Another thing I'm noticing is that the D2 is way better with EMI now, I got the ring in a place where there was a lot of it. It was always really good but I feel they improved it. On the other hand, the Equinox is a venerable gold machine, and if you have big hands the Deus might seem small. I tried the 15" on the Equinox and couldn't take swinging it for long, and I definitely get more false positives with it overall. The D2 is an "acquired taste", if you hunt relics with it was well you have to keep attaching and detaching the waveguide for the water as it gets snagged in the field. I go through a lot of zip ties these transition to fall days 🤔 It's also a bit less convenient to keep charged. It's a simple choice for me, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Sorry for the random thoughts. 😀
  18. Thanks! You should see them when the water is warmer 😬 they get to be about 8" diameter and have an angry red tint. I was wearing gloves and my waders are thick neoprene but I had a quick dry T-shirt on so my arms were exposed. Sometimes I just scooped them and threw them out of the way. It was slow going. It's probably both the reason there is and is not gold there, the upper beach gets hit hard by a couple people I can think of, so it's pretty wiped out now that the summer is over. People get in the water, lose the ring, see the jellyfish and decide that they aren't gonna spend a lot of time looking for it 🤣
  19. It usually does RVP, except that day I returned the iPhone to the nekkid woman at the hotel at this beach. 🤣 When I saw the diamond sparkle I was hoping it would be one my wife could wear, but she graduated elsewhere and had no interest in it. Heck she got a nice birthstone ring this week anyway 😍 I may or may not go back, that sort of hunting is brutal for a geezer like me. Had to drink some diluted vinegar as soon as I got back 🥴
  20. In my last post, I wrote that I was going to take advantage of the full moon low tide, and because it's going to rain on the day I wanted to go (favorable wind), I decided to go to the beach today. Nice warm October day, started out at 64 and went up to 87. I rigged up the Deus 2 with the 9" coil, the new black waveguide, and used the BH-01 bone conduction headphones. I wore waders because the river is still full of jellyfish and the water is getting colder. This is just a small spot in the water. There were thousands. The largest one I saw was about 5" in diameter, and they kept getting stuck to my detector and scoop. I had my CooB Shark V10 with a SteveG carbon fiber handle. I also had a floating sifter ala The Hoover Boys. The tide was going out when I got there and the river was flat, no real wind today. The tide was a bit higher than I encountered last Monday, but I was going in the water and didn't care. I have to give y'all that do this all the time credit, water hunting is twice as hard as beach or relic hunting, even without waves. Some boats came by and added that element 😵 you feel like you're moving around on another planet and people are pushing you around. 😅 The 9" was much easier to swing than the 13" elliptical I normally use, and I was tweaking up a new water only program that worked very well. I dug maybe 7 pieces of trash today, no aluminum pull tabs or iron - just weird bits like a large capacitor, a sinker, a broken brass knob, and some odd bits of copper. I threw it out at the beach, it was all in the pockets on my chest waders. The D2 was really finding coins today, I felt like someone was there before me because they left a lot of pennies. Ended up with 8 Zincolns and 3 copper memorials. Some were pretty deep, but I never completely submersed the D2 so they were fairly easy to dig. Here's the total haul today: I was after gold and I got it. Got a nice solid 59, and three or four scoops later I had this 10k college class ring: It has 7 diamonds, I'll have to find my tester to see if they are real, but I'm pretty sure they are. It's dated, has "AB" for Bachelor of Arts, and has initials inside, I'm pretty sure I have already located the owner and will return it. 🙂 it is a woman's ring. Also got this gold plated Disney pendant from the movie "Frozen", too bad water got to the picture and the gold plating is off in a few spots, it looks a lot better than it does in this photo. And last I got a pretty rare token: A Bally game token that is a 72 in rarity on Numista. The stuff people lose in the water... 🤔 I didn't hunt the beach and only got 3 sections of the water done, I'm sure there are other finds out there so I may go back, but I was done after 6 hours.
  21. We've all been clamoring for a 10x5" elliptical. I think a 6" round will be difficult due to constraints regarding internal electronics. Battery and wireless transmitter etc. Heck if it's possible we'd take a wired version!
  22. I've been messing with Deep HC a bit since I saw the first video, I set up the tone break the same way he did. In most of the trashy places I'm hunting right now, I'm finding Relic to be a bit better at the max frequency of 24kHz. The biggest problem is with iron. Relic is much better at identifying it, I dug none the last time I was out. I use Disc IAR of 5. It's interesting that he got an iron tone with that coin however. 🤔 I'm running modified Relic next to Deep HC, so I'm going to have to do more with it, but the results I'm getting favor Relic. Thanks Cap'n! I try to look for Gary's new videos but you always beat me to it. 😅
  23. If you get a chance, give Relic a try. I went hunting with Chase, and we both had a feeling that it didn't use as much battery as before on a whole day hunt. In prior versions I didn't like it, and it could be because of using it with the 13" coil, but this time I found it to be very quiet until a target was near the coil, and iron falsing was almost nil. I did modify it a bit to High Square and pushed Audio Filter but that's personal preference. Interesting you use the remote pinpointer to determine depth, Audio Response can also help with that, but it also can miss deeper targets if it's too low. It's just a feeling but I'll assert XP made the Deus 2 much better than it was in nearly every aspect.
  24. Like with the XP 13" coil, Serious Detecting puts out notifications when ready to accept pre orders for new stuff. If I want it I jump on it, that's how I got the XP D2 13" a long time ago. Managed to get one of the first shipped. They're already selling Legend kits with the Accupoint in the box I believe 🤔 "Nokta Banana" does have a ring to it... 😀
  25. Nice find Ghound, That's what I call the "thank you" find for saving history. 😀 I trust you are finding V2 to be a benefit?
