  1. I was more worried about keeping stuff cold but yes should be more than enough. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a nice morning brew out of it too 😉
  2. Just ordered my system today, 2 x 100ah Enerdrive lithium batteries, enerdrive dc/dc charger and 340W worth of solar, hopefully it works 🤞🏻 Need to find a few ounces to pay it back 😅😂
  3. I’m yet to take it camping, but this is one that I made out of 4 car rims stacked on top of one another. Can be cooked on and glows red when stacked up with decent hard firewood. Also good for getting the smoke up and out of eyes. Other than that, I love me a traditional campfire on the ground.
  4. Honestly, I feel the same, I just walked past the GPZ which had escaped its travel bag and it yelled at me for not picking it up, so I did and it started swinging around on its own. Bloody thing thinks it runs the show 🤦🏼‍♂️
  5. Aah thanks mate, mine will be on my camper trailer set up so won’t have any worries with moving on a vehicle.
  6. I was about 13 or 14 and was handed a detector to ‘have a go’ and have held an interest since. Last year, at 31 I picked the hobby up full time.
  7. Two, a GPX5000 and currently a GPZ7000. Soon to be three.
  8. No I doubt they would, but hearing the stories getting around now (I know they’re just rumours), there’s a possibility. As I said, wait and see.
  9. We’ll just have to wait and see, I personally feel it’s going to give the Z a run for its money but as said, wait and see. Yes, I already own a Z, and yes, I have my name down for a 6000 when it’s released, and personally can’t wait until it’s released (ML seriously needs to loosen that gag they have on their testers!). I feel it’ll be the machine you’ll want to use when you don’t want the lump of a GPZ hanging of your arm but still want the punching power to do some serious prospecting. If it behaves anything like the 5000 (which I’m sure it won’t) it’ll be a damn fine machine to do just that.
  10. Redclaw are amazing, tail split and placed meat down on a barbeque plate with garlic butter.
  11. Yet to try some lizard, been told it’s good though.
  12. When I’m out in the bush or away camping (I’m yet to have a proper prospecting trip) I like to eat well. Yes, I’ll still have the bush foods that I won’t normally eat at home, but I will still enjoy a decent evening meal and a good cup of coffee (or 3) in the morning. Eating well, especially when away for long periods, will help in keeping you well, especially if out in the elements. Another is good hydration. If you’re out in the elements, you’ll dehydrate a hell of alot quicker than you would if you were at home. Carry good food, and plenty of water, especially if out for long periods.
  13. It’s not just the manufacturing they’re paying for, it’s the R&D that goes into them aswell. The R&D phase can occur over as long as 5 years (and longer). Something has to pay for that time and money spent.
  14. The big Mining Companies pay Telstra to put towers on their sites for coverage. I know where I work has a tower.
  15. Queensland (Australia) and Drunk 🍻 (kidding on that last one) Hopefully turn that into two (maybe 3) states this year, pandemic pending.
  16. Horses for courses, yes, you can go out and buy the most expensive car, or have the most expensive stuff in your house, but guaranteed you’ll still find something that’s ‘not quite right with it’ I have a GPZ, I’ve got a couple of niggles with it, but it’s not concerning. Mainly comfort (I find the control box handle is a bit to ‘straight’ on the main shaft and irritates my wrist), but I adjust to accomodate. I once managed to get my hands on a Garrett ADS Deepseeker (the same detector that found the ‘Hand of Faith’ nugget) and after hanging onto it for all of 5 minutes, believe me, we’ve come a long way in detection equipment. Many of the older guys, gals and testers will agree to that. I don’t know what people are doing to break the feet off the control box or smash batteries off the back of them... I treat mine like a baby and it sits in my car if I’m travelling anywhere with it and lives in a padded bag.
  17. FB is a classic example, it’s a cesspool of negativity and personal attacks on anyone and everyone. I’ve left nearly all groups and deleted quite a few ‘friends’ because of the negativity. Back on topic, if we didn’t have the hype or the passion that everyone involved with ‘modern prospecting’ has, we’d still be out there with our pans and rocker boxes playing in the creeks. It’s also nice to be able to pick up a new passion (as I have) and get out in the bush and look for the yellow stuff. Always keen for my next outing.
  18. Jeez all this talk about espresso coffee while roughing it... I’ll have to invest in a decent plunger cup, I won’t have the power to run a small espresso machine.
  19. A remap, exhaust and larger intercooler really wakes them up 😉. Better on fuel too.
  20. Thanks for the ideas Norvic, that’s brilliant.
  21. I have on me, a Camelbak (water bladder type, packed with iced water) back pack that has a first aid kit, spare batteries for the audio booster, spare gloves, gold bottle and toilet paper (you never know when the call may strike) and usually throw my car keys and phone (in aeroplane mode) in the top pocket. I also have a belt that carries my pick and scoop. I usually have an esky (cooler) in my car with lunch in it aswell as something other than water to drink (yes water gets boring), a crowbar (for the extra hard ground, and incase of a decent find) and shovel. I’m never more than 15 minute’s walk from my car if I need any of those things out of it.
