GotAu, Didn't have the Coiltek when i found that patch. As i said before, anyone expecting to find more gold where they've already gridded with the 6000 and stock 11 coil is going to be disappointed. Hope you get a chance to do what you suggested now that you have both coils. Good Luck, Jim

Got AU, Yes,detected the patch with the 11 weeks ago and dug up the 18. Ridge Runner, Found the patch weeks ago so didn't have the Coiltek to go over it before the 11. Maybe would have found them all with the Coiltek, but several were quite deeep so who knows. Just saying what i think and not knocking the Coiltek. Jim

I don't agree with the posts about the coiltek coil being better than the stock 11 inch. Last week i did a test comparing the two coils and found the coiltek no better than the 11 in finding small or any size nuggets. I went to a patch where i found 18 various size nuggets which i had gridded with the 11, North South and East West. The area i found the nuggets was approximately 80ftx60 ft. I gridded the same area with the Coiltex North South and East West and only found 3 small nuggets that were between two bushes and two rocks that were too narrow for the 11 to go in between. The whole rest of the area didn't produce any targets whatsoever which in my mind shows the Coiltek is not any better than the stock 11 in finding any size nuggets. I go along with that it works good in brushy areas or where you need a narrower coil to find nuggets in tight spots. If you think you're going to find nuggets in beat out patches the only way that is going to happen is if someone else didn't get their coil over them. Of course this is just my opinion after doing my test. Good Luck, Jim

After reading Phrunt's post about his problems with the 6000 and several people giving him grief about what he is saying about Minelab, i for one totally agree with him as Minelab knew there were problems with the 6000 back in late APRIL or May last year and i had two replaced with the third one working as it should, so far. I think him bringing up the issues is totally right. Jim

Hope you have better luck than i did. I had to send two back and thankfully the third one they sent is working properly, so far! I think the build quality is probably ok, but to me the quality control part of it is really not very good. Good Luck!!

I use the Avantree Torus NB05 wearable speaker phones that go around your neck. I wear a windproof sweatshirt that has a hood and pull the hood up and tie it. If the wind is really bad i pull out the ear buds and put them in my ears and put the hood up also and have no problem hearing the quietest signal.

Would like to see you do another test of the Legend after downloading the 1.07 update. Everything I’m reading seems to point to the 1.07 update making a huge difference. Also possibly use all the same size coils. Jim

Already have the orx and the 6000. Thinking about selling the orx and getting the Legend if it is as good as the orx and 800 on small gold nuggets. Hopefully someone will post a live comparison hunt. Jim

How deep was said nugget?

Has anyone seen or heard how well the Legend does on gold nuggets as compared to the 800 or the ORX. I've been looking around the net but haven't really found anything yet. Thanks, Jim

In response to Steve on what was going on with the detector. Imagine the worst possible EMI and going over hot rocks at the same time and then having the detector go back to perfectly normal after a few minutes and doing this all day long. If anyone would like the videos of the problem pm me with an email address or cellphone number and I’ll get them to you. Just so everyone knows there was no EMI, airplanes flying overhead and no cellular towers in that area. Factory reset numerous times, ground balanced numerous times, quick track numerous times and adjusting sensitivity from lowest up to auto 2. I told DC the same and also sent them the videos in hopes it might help them to identify the problem. Jim

I really like how the 6000 finds small gold when it is working correctly. Hopefully my third one will operate correctly as it is a gold finding machine. Jim

My first 6000 was faulty out of the box which they replaced with a new one. I've had the new one for 21 days and probably used it 8 days before it went bad. When i was boxing it up to ship back i heard something rattling inside of it, not good. In researching i found that they've known them to have major issues since March or April, yet they have refused to address the issue with a production stop or at least look at the different production runs and recall those units. I think when it's all said and done there will be a substantial number of them that are faulty worldwide. As it stands now, Detector Center states that there is a" temporary" 10- 14 day time frame for repairing them. My bet is that it's not going to be temporary. If this failure rate continues there may be grounds for a worldwide class action lawsuit, who knows. Oh, and i owned a business for 40 years. Not a very smart way to run a business. JMO.

It is quite clear that earlier this year they were aware of problems with the 6000 yet they kept selling them.They could have done a recall on whatever run of detectors that were faulty or find out where the problem was during the manufacturing process. But oh no, they chose to keep sending them out and worry about it later at the expense of the consumer. Apparently they need to step up their quality control program and I don't care what the demand was a good company doesn't do that. JMO

Well, back out here today and the 6000 is not working it's doing the same as yesterday. Almost forgot, pushed the power button and it wouldn't come on pulled the battery out and put it back in and it came on. Calling Minelab Monday and having a talk about the problems these detectors are having. Two hundred miles in two days and didn't get to detect. Guess I'll help my buddy dig nuggets like I did yesterday. SMH!!!!

Got my 6000 two days ago and went out today and had a problem with it from the get go and was unable to detect the entire day. A friend had his 6000 and it worked fine. We tried factory reset 5 times, removed the battery and disconnected the coil and it still wouldn't work. Horrible EMI sounding noise and if you barely touched a small plant it got worse and even when you went over any type of rock or a low spot it did the same thing. When we got back to the truck i suggested we try switching coils and both detectors worked as they should when we did. Switched them back and now mine seems to be working correctly.Going back out tomorrow and we'll see how it goes. Sounds like major problems on lots of them. No at all happy with Minelab. Jim

Yea, I've made some deep finds with the stock coil on the Simplex.

Thanks all. If a lawn i detect is "clean" would the 9 inch x 35 be better than the Hf coil? I've got a couple lawns pretty well cleaned up and am now looking to possibly finding deeper targets. Jim
