  1. Yeah I went through this with Keene work boots the first go round. Great boot. Thought they would work well for our dig and detect mining operation. But no go. The safety toe and the eye hooks both set off my 6000. Sent them back. Search went on for a true good work boot able to hold up.
  2. Anything with a "composit" toe or shank will set off a good detector. Aka carbon. Even some of the eyelets and lacing hooks. Better test before you buy. Or you are right back to square one.
  3. They probably will be fine in the mountains. The 30 grit rock of the Mohave will eat them up in less than a month of hard hunting.
  4. Yeah your not gonna find them anymore. Its why I added that link about. True leather metal free boots and not tennis shoe hikers are very very rare and hard to find now. On some of my gold ground here in Montana prickly pear cactus is no joke and the same goes for Cholla in the SW deserts. They go right trough in hikers like Keenes. First time you do a boot scrape and drive a cholla into you're arch you will know 😅😅.
  5. Well I have this obsession with metal free boots especially since Doc ran out of the Bates Durashocks. But I ran across this company that has several options including non metal side zips. https://originalswat.com/
  6. The 6000 hands down. But give me a couple seasons on my new 7000 and we will see.
  7. Starting to get the hang of this beast. I always figure hearing big gold is fairly easy until its halfway to China. But crumbs are the secret to really learning a machine. So my confidence is growing.
  8. Yeah it behooves one to know his ground intimately before pulling the weapon out of the scabbard.
  9. Crazy that puts nuggets well over the $170 a gram mark or higher and climbing. My goal of one if those fancy driving RV bus things is edging very near lol.
  10. I guess one can't salt the whole planet.😎
  11. Oh no doubt the mod works awesome. I found a couple ouncex of nuggets with mine in the time I had it. Im just not a button/knob geek to stay on top of it. That and it has several components that needed kept up with and charged. I opted out for ease of use and a less of a pain in the butt versus constantly tweaking and tuning. I do this because I enjoy it not for a job. I wasnt enjoying the mod. Simple as that.
  12. Yeah no snow. Im bummed. I just had back Surgery or Id be out everyday it was nice out. Probably could of banked in some more ounces this winter. Rained an inch last night and was 52 degrees sunny and no wind. Crazy for Montana and January.. Im gonna disect that shaft and see if I can figure it out. Its probably the rubber clips. Not a huge deal. Ill just hockey tape that thing if worse comes to worse.
  13. No its used. I didnt want to go all in on another detector hoping the 8000 will eventually show its self and then I will. I do really really well with my 6000 up here and wanted a patch cleaner and something that goes a bit deeper. Ill check the rubber clips. My guess is they are shot. Ill have to try the sp01 again. I have two of them. Im gonna run my Avantees with a transmitter this summer when it gets to hot for muffs. I tested them akready. Not as good of sound as my Sunrays but not to bad either.
