  1. I bought a ip 68 connector and cord for my pro golds. Not a big fan of wireless but do have a set of Quest phones for the WS6.. I stand corrected on the 11” coil. I also moded my antenna wire thru the shaft. I coiled it similar to the CTX so I can open and close for transport. I also have a CF straight shaft on the way. We shall see how that works out.
  2. Hope not to wander. Going to break it down to the actual machine, working the machine, and conditions. All to be applied to saltwater use. The physical machine: This machine is not Salt Water usable and users will find several components unacceptable. Detector rod, D- The only reason it did not get an F is because it is usable on the wet and dry sand. The rod flexes too much with ANY kind of water contact. In larger waves it is completely unusable and will vibrate if the wave wash has enough force. It is almost impossible to center targets in wave wash. Surf hunters will need a different rod. Detector pod B, seems well built. But could use bigger numbers, which they are working on. 11" coil D, What part do manufactures not understand about rear mounted coils. The rear mounted coil is harder to hunt and is not weighted correctly when the mount is not in the center. The taller you are the worse this condition is. STOP offsetting coil mounts to the rear of the coil. Wireless WS6 Headphones F- These headphones are the biggest hunk of junk I have ever seen. Uncomfortable, poor fit, wind and noise walks in right into your ears. not one beach hunter will find these acceptable. Antenna connection, coil to pod ??? While the connection seemed to be fine just after a few days of hunting water seeped into the cable at the coil and a discoloration started [rust colored] Live environment testing and comparing to the Equinox. Over 5 days we spent many hours going after the meat and potatoes. Getting the Deus to identify Nonferrous targets that will not Tid. All of the factory Beach programs WILL NOT go deeper than the Equinox. AGAIN, ALL of the factory preset Beach modes will not go deeper than the Equinox. It was not until the user who is an experienced Deus 1 user started to customize programs did we see equality in nonferrous targets that will not Tid. All of that can be found here: https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/18385-deus-2-beach-testing/ Other operating important issues to detectorists: EMI: In both of the beach locations we hunted there is EMI from communication's equipment present. At both places the EMI did not seem to have any effect on the Deus 2. However, with how crappy the headphones are I can not be 100% sure. But pretty sure! Hunting in active wave wash, air-entrained fast water : Looks like an area where the Deus will excel. I was surprised how the Deus was unaffected by the amount or speed of moving Salt Water. The signal reports were unwavering, and recovery in difficult conditions will be much easier with the Deus. [once a appropriate detector rod is used] Wet sand/Black Sand: Found the unit to be stable and huntable in the conditions we had at both beaches. Both the Equinox and Deus could run a similar sensitivity settings. Nothing abnormal to report here. The Deus worked like a multi frequency machine should at the beach. TID function: It seems the Equinox and Deus are close in losing a TID on a target at about the same depth. Users should not expect to squeeze much more out of the Tid function. Final: It was disappointing that the only time I tested the Deus was in fast water testing. But the incompetence of the headphones was too much for me to overcome [shaft too]. I would of not really been able to learn anything from a new machine with the headphones supplied. I have big issues with the cost of this detector being what it is and not have a unit be huntable to my standards. For me, hunting the wave wash is important. But it will be sometime before I purchase one as I do not see that big of a separation in machines for the wet sand. Hopefully aftermarket shaft makers can step up to the plate. HH from the beach! Your results may and will vary.
  3. Anyone know how to remove the large number v0.06 and return back to the original v 0.06 version ? Thanks
  4. Ok, I admit, this has been the worst week in years, thanks also to the fact that I am now limited by law to hunt in very few spots on my coast among the thousands available before. But preparing the Deus 2 in a scuba configuration for tomorrow morning, I'm really feeling like I've got it all wrong. Wrong coil due to the only 11 "available, no need of the ws6 headphones and last but not least, this horror shaft lenght! So the almost funny question is: how did You manage to dive with it? Shorter lower stem's lenght doesn't allow to hunt without upper shaft falsing noise. If I extend in the correct position the upper shaft part, there's no way to reach the coil area with the arm and to dig properly, not to mention the bonephones connector's cable contact with the shaft. The last forced option is to collapse it and have to literally face the remote among the forearm and the elbow. Can I be more pissed than usual?....Of Course...Apparently.
  5. Part one: A tale of three objects. Goal to identify deep non-ferrous targets and compare signals before digging. Myself, on the Equinox and my friend on the Deus and VERY experienced Deus 1 user. Modes Beach 2 Equinox, Beach and Beach sensitive both tested on Deus The Ring: I located what I was sure to be a deep nonferrous beyond TID range. Called my friend over and he could hear it as well and the Deus 2 would not tid lock either. He said it sounds bad to him, I said it sounded clean to me. We now both know it was a ring. The Charm: I had a solid lock at 16 but I knew it was at the end of my tid range, as about one in every three swings would throw me another number. The Deus would not lock consistent and only gave a number one in about 6-8 swings. The Coin: A staple here to find. I buried it in the wet sand at the edge of my hearing it [about 15"] But not too deep where I would not dig it. The Deus would not number lock, either but was real scratchy on signal. Not sure I would have dug it, my friend said he would of not dug it. Today, more searching for deep nonferrous and testing buried gold.
  6. This has come up on my FB feed. Its looks like XP are listening. edit: It looks like it is already in the current firmware. People are re-installling and the option is then present.
  7. Can anyone tell me what the number 2 in the lower left corner means ? Also, my battery indicators for my coil and RC never ramp down. Both always show full charge until either just dies. Anybody else notice this issue ? Suggestions ? Thanks in advance. That 2 is driving me crazy. 🤣
  8. I really like having the pinpointer paired with the detector. Most of the time, it works great. Periodically, the pairing doesn't work. Sometimes, simply turning it off and back on does the trick yet at other times, it takes several tries. Today, I had to un-pair it and then re-pair it to get it to work. Several times afterwards, I had to turn it off and back on a couple of times to get it to work. Most of the time it works great but sucks when it doesn't. I was using Program 2 Sensitive on the Deus II.
  9. First thanks to the Chateau Numis MD shop ( France ) https://www.metaux-detection.fr/fr/ for the Deus2 loan ( I have it for 3 weeks testing 🙂 ) MY DETECTING CONDITIONS : EUROPE ( FRANCE ) , COIN HUNTING , INLAND , LOW TO MEDIUM MINERALIZED SOIL , MEDIUM TO HIGH IRON TRASH 1) TESTING THE P1 "GENERAL" MODE: --------------------------------------- I did a first outing yesterday evening with the Deus2 11" in a field where I have a permission and where I have tested a Quest Q30 2 weeks ago . The soil is moderately mineralized with quite a lot of iron trash ; old nails , 1st WW shell fragments etc ... I spent only one hour in the field as the night was coming and it was getting colder , but that was enough to have a first feeling of the machine . I decided to focus on the GENERAL nr1 mode . I first changed the audio from PWM to SQUARE , because for me the SQUARE audio is one of the main and most interesting differences between the D2 and the D1 . I have immediately been impressed by this new SQUARE audio with its fast and crystal signals on targets . I like this audio . I also changed the multitone from 3 to 5 tones to have more info about the targets IDs . I used the RC loudspeaker with the RC in my pocket to save weight . I dont need to permanently watch the screen as all conductivities can be an interesting target over here ... BTW It took me a little time to get used to the RC interface , as it was new for me but it is ok now ... I have found a lot of targets , including an old 1774 Prussian silver coin, a brass hook and a buckle . This coin has probably been lost by a Prussian soldier on 1814 during the Napoleon war when the Alliance ( Prussia , GB , Russia ) invaded France ... A very nice historical find btw .. 🙂 Long story short , the Deus2 has been very efficient in the field , even with this large 11" coil . Usually I prefer to use smaller coils in open fields but the 11" did a very good job . Without any EMI , always very stable ... Actually this single GENERAL mode with the SQUARE mode is exactly what I was expecting from the Deus2 and I am already happy with this , knowing that I am just starting to test the machine and there are perhaps even more performing modes 🙂 🙂 ... A few pics below : The testing area : The 1st coin found with the D2 : IT is a 1774 Prussian silver coin ... unfortunately corroded : A buckle : A bronze hook : And the trash .... :
  10. Really wishing I had another set of the Quest headphones but since they're sold out what's the word on the Gray Ghost version for the Deus II?
  11. I always weigh the detectors as an important part of my testing procedure . Here are the results : CC : coil cover RC : Deus2 wireless control box 1) DETECTORS WEIGHTS : --------------------------- - Deus2 9" , RC in the pocket without CC = 800g ( estimation based on NCtoad's post ) - Deus2 11" , RC in the pocket without CC = 880g - Deus2 11" , RC in the pocket + CC = 930g - Deus2 9" ,, RC on shaft without CC = 950g ( estimation based on NCtoad's post ) - Deus2 11" , RC on shaft without CC = 1030g - Equinox 11" without CC = 1260g - Legend 11" without CC = 1320g ( estimation based on cal_cobra's post ) - Deus2 9" , RC on shaft + CC = 990g ( see NCtoad's post ) - Deus2 11" , RC on shaf + CC = 1080g - Equinox 11" + CC = 1320g - Legend 11" + CC = 1370g ( see cal_cobra's post ) 2) PARTS WEIGHTS : ---------------------- - Coil without CC : - Deus2 9" = 330g ( see NCtoad's post ) - Deus2 11" = 420g - Equinox 11" = 420g - Legend 11" = ? - Coil with CC : - Deus2 9" = 370g ( see NCtoad's post ) - Deus2 11" = 470g - Equinox 11" = 470g - Legend 11" = ? - Control Box/RC : - Deus2 = 150g - Equinox = 320g estimation ( digital cb plus battery minus plastic handle) - Legend = ? 12. I used the Diving program today, but with: Discrim 0, Full Tones, Sensitivity 95, Reactivity 0, Audio type PWM A low frequency-weighted, deep, stable beach program which worked well on relics today.
  13. I have received some bad news in the last few hours and I don't know how many around Europe know the current availability of the D2 with 9 "coil. There seems to be nothing in this second delivery batch either, except 11 "coils. This could mean an additional one to two months of waiting for anyone who wants the smaller version. Bad, really bad😣
  14. Just tested Deus 2 on a little and thin piece of foil..I’ve used as usual my hematite stone which is extremely mineralized. So, I’ve a new program for mineralized soils: its name is Focus 1. It’s based on prog. 2 but with Pitch, disc 6, iron volume 4, audio response 6, recovery 3 and ground stabilizer 1. Ground Stabilizer is very important to reach depth...on mineralized soils for sure. And here is a little video. Sorry for the very low quality..
  15. I have owned the D2 for 3 weeks now and to get used to how the D2 performs, I have focused on hunting the wet sand. I have also used it wading in the surf and tidal pools on the beaches in and around Cape Town. I have also managed a short dive of about an hour with the D2. I normally spend 80 % in the water and 20% on wet sand. Wet sand. I am really enjoying the D2 on the wet sand and it makes me want to spend more time on the wet. I can run the “Beach Sensitive” program all the way down to the water line without any hassles. It is really quiet on the wet sand with sensitivity at 95+ and reactivity at 1. In the tests I did, I managed to replicate Calabash’s 16 inch nickel test and had very similar results. In the tests I did there is very little depth difference between the “Beach” and “Beach Sensitive” programs. When using the “Dive” program on the same Nickel test, I lost about 4 inches in depth. When comparing my CTX and Equinox on the same tests, the D2 out performs both the CTX and Equinox. Although I love Minelab, I will have to give it to the D2 on low conductors in wet sand. I also really like the option of being able to store so many custom programs, as this comes in handy when wanting to double check a signal. Wading, waist to chest deep in surf and Tidal pools. I have been using the D2 at a family beach which I hunt often, as this beach has moderate waves, 3 – 6 feet. I found that in the water, using the Dive Program the D2 is very quiet and stable. I tried “Beach Sensitive” but it was not useable in the water as it was too unstable. I did manage to run the D2 in the “Beach” Program in these conditions, but I only used it for a short time as the “Beach” Program wasn’t easy to work with. I think that with a bit of practice you would be able to use the “Beach” Program in the in these conditions. There was a bit of a back wash and D2’s shaft would pick up a shudder as the water pulled back, but as I went deeper into the water, this became less of a problem. I swapped detectors with a friend and used his Equinox on an original standard shaft and there was no shudder or flexing of the shaft in the same condition. As great as the Bone Conduction headphones are for diving, for wading I would prefer a good set of over the ear Piezo’s”. I am sure someone will be selling Carbon shafts and Piezo headphones for the D2 soon and this will definitely add value to the D2’s performance in surf. The last 2 weekends I spent time with the D2 in a tidal pool comparing different settings in the water, without the added interference of waves. I placed a number of low conductor coins at different depths 8,10 and 12 inches. Again the D2 was very quiet in the “Dive” program, even at 98 sensitivity, but as with my tests on the wet sand, you lose about 4 inches in the “Dive” Program. I played around with the “Beach” Program again to test it in calmer water. I tried lots of variations of the sensitivity, reactivity, salt sense etc. It’s hard to explain in words, but the “Beach” program doesn’t false but the does have some fluttering sounds and a lot of back ground noise. You can hear the waves as the water depth changes, similar to a PI. I found that a targets signal does come threw the background noise, but you have to be paying attention to hear the target and coil control becomes very important. Using the “Beach” program gave me a little more depth compared to the ‘Dive” Program in water, but when I compared the D2 to the CTX on the same target, the CTX outperformed the D2 and the CTX was more stable. In my opinion, the CTX has about 2 inches over the D2 in my water tests. I am hoping that with some more time spent with the D2, I will be able to squeeze a bit more out of it in the water. But at this stage I would say I prefer the CTX in the water. I am looking forward to hearing what the other water hunters come up with once they have tested the D2 in salt. I am sure some people will get better results and others will get worse results, but these are my results and thought s on the D2 in the conditions I tested it in and I thought I would share them with those who haven't been able to get a D2 yet.
  16. Jeff PM'd me and told me how bad the video was. I knew it was going to be bad with the EMI issue and I wanted people to see what reality is using the Deus 2 in the city. Out on my relic sites away from power lines, it is very quiet. I have a park about 3 miles from me that I can't even use the Equinox in unless I run the Sensitivity down to 18. I took the Deus 2 there a few days ago and I have to run the sensitivity down into the high 60's to get it quiet. For me and the soil I have, single frequency is really not an option. I literally get 4" on a dime with single frequency. You'll see in this next video the Deus 2 still gets about the same depth with the EMI under control. So a 6" dime with accurate ID is way better than the Deus 1 at 4" in my dirt.
  17. I've held off posting a video like this because of all the controversy with Deus 2 vs Equinox thing. Now that other people are getting the Deus 2 and showing that it struggles in mineralized dirt just like all other VLF's I decided to go ahead and post the video. I've said this to a few other people privately and I thank them for their comments and input. I actually filmed this test in my test garden 3 times over the past week and a half, deleted all but the last just to make sure I had all the programs in the Deus 2 figured out. I've been out with the Deus 2 on 3 different hunts about 4 hours each and I'm seeing the same results as this test show in my soil. So if you have higher or lower mineralization this probably doesn't apply. I've used the Deus 1 for about 6 years, so I'm not new to how it operates and the Deus 2 is very similar to the Deus 1. Just today I went out to a relic site and confirmed what I'm seeing in the test garden when I compare signals Deus 2 vs Equinox. I'm personally not getting rid of the Equinox, the Deus and Equinox are still yin and yang IMO. The Deus 2 in my city has a real issue with EMI, more so than the Equinox. It's going to be tough using it in a park around here. Might just be the 11" coil, I hope. Looks like Paystreak has the same EMI issues with the 9" coil as well. Some may ask about the relic program because I don't show it in the video. I will say it hits the deeper targets, But the results are still the same as the other programs in the video 00 ID.
  18. Alright, no snickering. This is a serious comparison. For those that have never used a Simplex, it is pretty impressive. Deus 2.....I have never used one. Paystreak Superfreak sometimes makes some weird videos. I do weird stuff too like metal detecting at 30 degrees F in 4 inches of snow.... This video is no nonsense and very accurate from my experience. This is a test on three US coins at 6" in disturbed freshly dug high magnetite and volcanic particulate dirt. For those of you who are fortunate to hunt in mild soil....now you are getting a good idea of how bad it can get just in someones back yard. My backyard dirt looks almost exactly like Paystreak's. Detects about as bad too. By the way, the Equinox does not like highly iron mineralized freshly disturbed ground either.
  19. Just a question for the guys who have used the legend and the deus. I have a deus and was wondering how the recovery/reactivity compared?
  20. I found this content really useful...Especially If someone likes to dive with the machine and wants a short setup like me.......
  21. Hey wassup guys! Hope y'all doing great! Just recorded this video as a response to this thread: He said that his gold broken ring gave him a 34 ID right? Well, that equals to a 1 - 2 ID on the Nox (might reach 3)... now imagine the 27 ID from the Earing... when he closed the earing, he had a 49 ID (that's just right, no issues) i got gold coins on the 40's to the 50's range... My broken ring doesn't have any features (his ring has a much larger part) so i guess that when he found the ring with the nox, the large part was positioned horizontally... Sad that he didn't call his mate to compare the signal with his Nox... Hopefully he will record a video using both units. 😁
  22. I ran my buddies D2 while he used his Nox 800 yesterday at the beach. It's really not close. The 800 is a better beach detector by far. My D2 is coming in Tuesday. I paid 1300 dollars. I'm not even going to remove it from the box. I'm going to sell it. Very disappointed after having such high hopes. Xp will need to do something with how the vdi screen is constantly changing when swinging over a target. It's a major annoyance.
