He prospected in Alaska, Yukon,Montana, Idaho, California, Nevada,Oregon and Washington. He could recite most of Robert Service's poems to his last days. He passed in 97 at age 97.His name was Andrew Stevenson. Sure miss him.

jasong
How cool! What is the blue/grey tool? Is that an oldschool handdredge? Is there merc in the flask? Is it crunchy?
Sourdough Scott
Yes a super sucker hand dredge. And full of mercury. Looks like I'll have to break out the retort. The hand dredge looks to be retrofitted from a grease gun. The coffee can has glass in the bottom for a sniping scope.

That is a cool b day gift, and an excellent way to honor him(by continuing to care for and most importantly USING his ole tools) as well as keep his memory alive. Please tell the wife hello and best of luck to both of you. -therell
Sourdough Scott
In 1900. Great man. He was the last chief of police here in Portola, where I live. They then turned the police duties over to Plumas county. He dredged into his late 70's.
