I must say you done a great job! If I could do half as good I’d give it a try but that’s not my calling.haha

Thanks for the show and tell.

thanks for your nice comment....im in the process of making another pro using a beach hunter ID housing...ive modified the battery box to hold 4 li-ion batteries...i like tdi detectors very much and think they are the best all round pulse detectors.

I am still playing with my TDI SL and having fun, Some where on the forum is my battery conversion that holds 9 AA Cells, Using 9 NiMh cells it puts out 12.6 Volts and using 9 Duracells it puts out 14.58 Volts, Using the 9 NiMh cells it was good for about 6 and a half hours, If you use an 8 cell pack using Energizer lithium batteries gives you about 14.48 Volts and will last for about a day and a half to 2 days. they are not cheap but the have the power.

Unfortunately the voltage on those drops from their starting value rather quickly.  They're still better than alkaline and NiMH, but as you can see from the plot below (I think the red curve is about right from your lifetime estimate of 1.5 - 2 days) it plateaus around 8x1.5V = 12V.

is the website where I found (via Google images) the plot.

The trouble with their chart is they quote 1.6 volts for the Ultras,  but they are always between 1.81 and 1.82 volts each where as normal energizers and Duracells are 1.61 to 1.62 straight out the pack, All I know is they have some serious horsepower, the worse results someone that I know of got from them was 12 hours because they had 1 cell that went flat but all the others still were ready to rock"n"roll.

Here's the manufacturer's datasheet for Energizer Ultimate Lithiums.  Is that what you refer to as 'Ultras' or are we discussing different products?  The plot showing the voltage decay profile of "CD/Games" with a performance life of ~13 hours is probably consistent with your 1.5 to 2 days of operation.  Their 'digital audio' curve with ~33 hours of life may be the better comparison, but its plateau is also ~1.5 V.

Cool thanks for that, and yes they are what I call the Ultras "Ultra Lithium"

i still prefer using 4 rechargeable li-ion batteries which have the running power...ive tried other batteries and they let me down on running time...the li-ion have a low internal resistance which is better for pulse type metal detectors.
