  1. If it is specifically nugget detecting you are planning, you won’t find a better guide to different detectors than Steve’s.
  2. I’ve been there a few times in the last 12 months ?
  3. Nope, not a dude-hickey either - different thing altogether ?
  4. A very useful device. Used in Equine Polo, knitting and marine navigation. The original Danish versions are better than the cheap Chinese copies. Can be used as a last ditch ferrite for the GPZ if you lose the original (need to somehow keep this post relevant to the thread ? )
  5. Some info on PA forum. 1.3 kg and $1,825 AU plus postage. Reg has commented that he has been testing it lately on a 5000. The link to PA topic. https://www.prospectingaustralia.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?id=31334
  6. Your quiet write Mitchel. There currently in Clermont accordion to the latest police reports. JP had best be on the look out, he might loose some stock out of the shop. Triantiwontigongolope - Us Victorians have no hope with big words. Drop Bear is much easyyer ?
  7. Do you have a current picture of The Triantiwontigong? There may be some comparisons ? Nice gold Norvic. A small coil on a Z looks so out of place but also very enticing. Sorry Mitchel, just pulling your chain ?
  8. I see these kind of 'cross cuts' quite often around here and wonder what they are. I didn't know if they were trying to intersect something or if they had simply found and removed reef. Have detected quite a few and have not found a single piece of gold from them - but lots of crap. Near the Blue Bell mine there are several of them and then underneath the surface cross cuts there is an actual addit. A little further away again is the larger, Blue Bell mine. It surprised me that I couldn't find gold in the cross cuts as they must have found something to then dig quite a large addit directly underneath. Curiouser and curiouser ?
  9. Howdy Rob. A message for your 'on the fence' customers from a previous 7000 owner, only semi-experienced detectorist, very minimally experienced prospector and a person with zero affiliation with anyone person or company. 1) the GPZ 7000 is a very easy detector to set-up and use and is also a very powerful detector. I was a complete novice when I bought mine and found gold with it quickly. If you allow it to be, it is very straight forward. 2) all of this can be as simple or as complex as the end user wishes to make it. Some people want to know the how, why, when and where of how something works - that's the complex bit . If you just want to know how to work the 7000 then that's easy. 3) Turn it on. - noise cancel. - balance with ferrite and Quick Trak in semi auto. - release Quick Track and pump ground balance just off to the side. - check ferrite again. If still making noise over ferrite, balance with ferrite and Quick Trak in semi auto again. Repeat the above steps until quiete over ferrite and ground. - start detecting. - check over the ferrite sporadically through the day or if the detector seems 'out of tune'. 4) With minimal practice this sequence will flow easy. 5) The Ground Mode to choose and the Gold Mode to choose are explained very well in the manual. 6) The default settings are a great place to start and when you get some hours on the machine start to test and play - especially with un-dug targets. 7) The GPZ 7000 is heavy and expensive but also awesome. Comes down to an individual's needs and abilities. 8) The GPZ 7000 won't find gold that isn't there. The best detector in the world doesn't replace research and time on the ground. 9) JP - I've tried to summarise your balancing process in point 3. If it is out of kilter please copy and paste it and fix it up ? 10) If I had the money to buy one and the time to use it I would have a 7000 again in a heart beat. So if you have the time, the money, the location and the physical ability - get off the fence ?
  10. Ebay’s next big seller!! Just remember you saw it here first on DP forum ?
  11. I wonder what ever happened to rios. Looks like he hasn’t logged on for about 18 months. Fortune and not fame hopefully - I’m not sure that fame would be particularly wanted in that part of the world.
  12. Fantastic that you gave it a go, shame that you weren’t a little more successful. It is certainly a vast and inhospitable country at times. I think that’s why I love it. Safe travels home.
  13. Absolutely!!! Interest rates are down - that's wonderful says 1 political party. Interest rates are down - that's terrible says the other political party. Same data - different interpretation. Absolutely again. It is refreshing to hear ?
  14. I agree. I'm here for knowledge sharing and I value all contributors reviewing/helping/suggesting about all sorts of prospecting related issues as long as they are coming from the angle of trying to help fellow prospectors. It can be terribly hard to gauge intent from the written word. As childish as emojis may seem I often use them simply to try and ensure that what I am writing is not read with the wrong intent. I value your knowledge and contributions JP and I think we would all be worse off for you leaving. Onward and upward ✈️ ?‍♂️ ?
  15. My brother in law lives in Perth and he said that WA has been really wet this month. I think the wheat belt has even got quite good falls. Victoria has actually had very little rain although it looks like that will change this weekend.
  16. Thanks for the post JP. Although it seems like some of the early issues may have been ironed out is always nice for a potential consumer to know the teething problems a new product has had and potential issues that may still arise for some purchasers depending on ground conditions or if the patch lead, etc aren't quite up to scratch. Although I no longer own the Z, if it were still in my hands I know I couldn't bring myself to 'cut the cord' as it were. The risk versus the reward would be just too big for me at the present time. I think you mentioned in one of your earlier posts about the possibility of "coil not connected" being too scary to contemplate - I am definitely in that category ? This is also not a slight on the X coils, their manufacturer or Davsgold. Obviously there are many happy purchasers experiencing little or no issues and finding good quantities of gold in flogged patches. But there are 2 sides to every coin and it is good for potential purchasers to see the flip side so they can make a fully informed decision. Cheers, NE.
  17. That bit struck my interest too Mitchel. By JWs quizzical emoji I am not sure that he is understanding what is going on either. Is JW just not putting his coil over as many or is Simon’s machine (VLF??) more sensitive and picking up the shallower, upper layer pellets but not striking deep enough to pick up the gold? Curiouser and curiouser ?
  18. Is it new or just the condition is ‘new’? I am guessing by the name Rohan and the place Strathfieldsaye it is for sale by the NF maker? If it is brand new it’s a great price. 2nd hand I would haggle a bit. I got mine in ‘as new’ condition, tested but out of warranty for $210 off Phasetech.
  19. What about with an original coil - does that do it? I am super untechnical but if the chip is fried (pun intended) then it will not work on any coil...? Bugger that it’s happening, hope you get it sorted ?
  20. We'll sort it all out in the morning. I've got extra connectors, coils, speakers, wireless kit, ear buds, etc, etc. Surely with all of that we will be able to work out what is working and what isn't ?
  21. The 20” NF Advantage 3 spoke Litz wire coils seem to come up frequently on PA for sale. Haven’t seen any 25’s for a long time. Nice to have a mid range spiral wound in the arsenal too, like the 14” Elite that Reg is suggesting.
  22. Or their dope crop will be ready in 6 months. Don't see much of it these days but there used to be a lot of dope grown in the bush. Poly pipe and chicken wire were quite common sights. Might be why they were a bit more antsy than most people you find in the bush.
