  1. Fake ones!! ? How disappointing for you. Better luck next time ?
  2. 'You can't' is the simple answer. There is a video on here somewhere that shows gold rings coming in on the VDI's from anywhere between 2 and the mid 20's on the Nox. Dig it or miss it ?
  3. Not an expert but my 2 cents worth... Sensitivity at 22-23 shouldn't be knocking out those deep coins, it should be enhancing it. The only proviso to that is if this level of sensitivity is causing EMI troubles OR it is just enhancing all the feedback from trash and the ground to a point where it is just messy to listen to. I can only run up to about 20 sensitivity otherwise the mineralisation in my ground takes over. Often only at 17-18 and still get deep silvers. Last night I got a Shilling (silver) and a Penny (copper I think) in the same hole on my front nature strip. The hole ended up being deeper than the pinpointer (Minelab Pro-Find = 9.5 inches). Park 1, Sens 20, Recov Speed 6, 50 tones, horseshoe button on and off at various times. Have only recently switched to 50 tones and think it makes a slight difference in hearing signals that aren't necessarily showing up as VID's. Hope that helps a little ?
  4. Hi Adam, I'm only a newbie to the world of PI and the multitude of coils that can be used. My comment was based upon a friend that brought his 5000 with standard Minelab Commanders and found some reasonable amounts of gold at various small sizes of 1-3 grams. Once he got to know the 5000 he then purchased an open spoke 15" Nugget Finder Evo. Went over the same areas and proceeded to pull much more gold out at both smaller and larger sizes and greater depth. From what I have read the flat wound (Evo coils) do give you greater sensitivity and depth compared to bundle wound (Commanders). I also read that round coils (such as the Evo) will give a slight depth advantage compared to the eliptical that PG advised he was using. As I said, I am only a newbie at the PI coil game, so more than happy to take on board some factual and informative advice.
  5. Fair bit here goldbrick In the Metal Detector Advice and comparisons there are a few threads with vids, settings, comments.
  6. A change up to a Nugget Finder 15" Evolution coil might make a difference. I have a mate that does some serious damage with one of these on a 5000.
  7. I’m 3 hours from a beach and have zero plans on buying a waterproof ground balancing PI. And yet, due to Steve’s thoroughly informative, detailed, linked up, charted up response I find myself being wiser than I was 10 minutes ago. You do an amazing job Steve, thanks ?
  8. There is this - Reg Wilson uses the Z-Link on his QED PI machine and speaks highly of it. He may have tried it on his GPX...?
  9. Female - Female adapter - easy. Of course! But if your earbuds are plugged into the wi-fi receiver you’re not connected to detector?
  10. I see they are $199 AU on Catch at the moment. Wondering where you got yours and a price if you are happy to say? https://www.catch.com.au/product/xvive-u2-black-guitar-wireless-system-474990/?offer_id=583547&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqfeQ0OuH4AIVxxaPCh1wnwUdEAQYAiABEgLlRfD_BwE
  11. Hi Jin, Thanks for showing that system. There have been a few discussions re: wireless systems for the QED on other forums recently. It seems the bluetooth models are prone to interference whilst the Wi-Fi systems aren't. Looking at the connectors the receiver really needs to be plugged into a booster doesn't it? Can't really plug a set of ear buds or headphones into that male plug? I assume you are using the system of - GPX - Transmitter - Receiver - SP01 - Bose earbuds? Cheers, NE.
  12. The Ultra Swingy Thingy looks the goods Doc. Even the Original looked pretty simple and use-able. Love the fact that it helps keep your pants up at the same time ?
  13. The Hero 7 Black is completely waterproof as is, so no need for a the waterproof housing ?
  14. Go Pro Hero 7 Black. Good vid. Easy to upload automatically into smart phone and the app creates a ‘story’ for you. Or you can easily cut or do basic edit functions yourself. And voice command of Go Pro “On” or Gro Pro “Off” means no more stuffing around with dirty fingers wondering if you have pressed the right button. We’ve been happy with ours so far.
  15. Try a new battery (a friends or something?). I have never used a GPX but there is a Cancel mode in there somewhere isn't there? Headphone or speaker connection issue? Using a booster? Flat battery in that? If you have any mono coils does it happen with them also? I have no idea, just guessing ?
  16. Tones are very customizable ? Yes and no. Read the manual and leave it in factory defaults for the first few hunts and you should get the hang of it. If at the beach you could also dig everything for the first few hunts to give you some real feedback about tones/VIDs Versus actual target.
  17. Or do you mean this type. They are Aftershokz Bone conduction, bluetooth head phones. First time I tried them on the Equinox they worked well and the second time they lagged. Haven't used them since.
  18. By 'ear clip' do you mean this type? These are Phillips brand, sport ear phones. They sit out of your ear so you can hear surrounding noises also. They are quite comfortable and will plug straight into your WM08.
  19. Just be careful Ridge Runner or you might wake up with one of these around your neck and a few nuggets missing ?
  20. I would definitely choose the Equinox 800 over the Gold Monster. The Equinox will handle finding small gold if you end up prospecting but it will also handle the parks and beach much better than a Monster. The audio information and VID's on the Equinox are also winners. I have never used the 24K but being a 48khz single frequency VLF it will have similar characteristics to the Gold Monster and be lacking VID's. The Equinox also has the advantage of being completely waterproof. Best of luck with your choice ?
  21. G'day anguilla. Welcome to the forum. For inside the mine (unless it is quite open and cavernous) you may find the GPZ a real pain in the bum and nowhere near the best detector for that job. Holding a GPZ sideways in a mine will bring weight challenges, will be awkward, may not ground balance properly, has a very large coil, etc. Coil control is essential to get the best out of the Z. Something like a Gold Monster that you can stick on a shortened broom stick (literally) and that has a small coil that you can poke into holes and crevices and is smoking hot on really tiny gold might be a much more appropriate and cheaper alternative. Certainly for outside the mine the GPZ will shine with regard to detecting shallow and deep gold. But...it will also detect every other scrap of metal known to man and will have you digging some seriously deep holes for bolts, screws, tin, etc. And if this location has had a thousand mines then it has had 10,000 miners and they will have left crap everywhere. The GPZ is a beast and I have loved mine but yours may be a situation where another detector/s may suit your needs better? Whatever you decide, enjoy the time with your son. That's the gold ?
