  1. I saw Jim yesterday. He's trying to get ahold of someone that worked on the program to see if they can find out what the problem is.
  2. Thanks Clay... I know that you can run into a mess if you try to challenge a claimant. Not going to do that but if I can find a clean way to do it, I will. They did not post any Location notice, Discovery post or centerline posts. Their discovery monument is a Section corner a half mile from the deposit. Their description from the "discovery monument" puts the claim 3/4 of a mile from the vein/deposit. They had no idea what they were doing!! If they don't pay their Maintenance Fee by September 1, and I can confirm from BLM, it wasn't paid, I'm filing.
  3. The reason I had the question is because I was looking at filing a lode claim.... Someone filed a "paper claim" on the same area in July 2016 with the filing fee. In August 2016 paid a Maintenance Fee for the following year and nothing else. I say "where is the Notice of Intent"?? It wasn't filed. BLM in Sacramento says the claim is void if not filed but will not void it.....
  4. Thanks Clay. Cleared up some of it. The "Flow Chart" does not have a date or deadline for filing the NOI.. (Under miners that pay the Maintenance Fee) Then the "General Guidelines" had this which prompted the question:
  5. Thanks for the info Clay. Have a question/observation on miners that pay the Maintenance Fee... Required by law(federal?) to file a Notice of Intent to Hold every year but if you don't, BLM still considers your claim active? No deadline when to file it?
  6. The only thing missing( if I read it right) is the ability to conform an old map to a new one by "stretching" it to known points. For example, If you had say, 5 mountain peaks on both maps, you click all 5 on the new map then click all 5 on the old map. It stretches the old to fit new. As I see it, you can only do it by "percentage" or adjusting the "x, y" values. Did I read it right? I know there are programs that will do that.....
  7. I'd like to see the mold for a one grain bar....grin Maybe a one gram bar?
  8. Steve either that's an old knapsack or you found somewhere to buy a new one? Had one like that but can't find a replacement. I know... off topic. Sorry
  9. Maybe I wouldn't have heard the signals anyway because of the ground and it's a wash?
  10. Steve, Every since you posted that you lose depth when you ground balance, It is in the back of my mind........ "Ground balancing is a filter and not all that different that the way the discrimination system works. The ground signal or salt signal (or both) are identified and then tuned out. The ground effect is still there, but the detector subtracts it from the overall signal. The key word there is "subtracts". Ground balance methods work by subtracting part of the signal, and all subtractive methods create depth losses of some sort the closer any detected item gets to the "hole" created by subtracting the ground or salt signal. Signals are not perfect but spread over a small range, and so eliminating any signal usually means taking out a small range of signals. " I have always tried to keep my detectors ground balanced while using them.... Now I wonder if I should? Can you put my mind at ease......
  11. Couldn't wait for it to cool down( I don't think it will soon) Here's a 24 grainer a full 7 inches down with the small coil..... loud and clear Can you find it?
  12. When I go out panning/crevicing, I use a No. 4(1/4 inch) mesh that sits on top of my pan(or bucket). Just check the oversize before I discard it. If I'm panning cons, I might use No. 12, No. 20 and maybe? a no. 30 All depends on material Don't forget a magnet to get out most of the blacksands when you get near finishing the pan.
  13. IDdesertman ..... Plan on doing that as soon as it cools down a bit.
  14. I'm pretty sure they came from the same "pocket". They just eroded down the hill a little bit.
  15. It helps if they are near the surface. The one with the gold running thru the quartz was a sunbaker..
  16. Thanks for the comments.... climbing those hills keeps me young... grin. The gold is a bonus.
  17. Not much of a story... just back and forth on the hillside with the GB2 with small coil and hit it. pretty much all was within 20 feet. Deepest was about 8 inches. Took the ATX back and found a few small pieces. GB2 did the job.
  18. This winter I did a lot of climbing the hills. Sometimes it pays off good..... The fellow I sold this nice find to made this Youtube of it... Hope you enjoy it.
  19. there won't be any gold left pretty soon....
