  1. I've got so many places to go and they all have cartel grows.....
  2. Out for a couple mile hunt today. Didn't find any gold but did walk into a cartel grow being setup. Moving supplies in. Backed out quietly........

  4. Unfortunately, you can't scoop up much dirt out of a small hole with a pointed trowel.... That blue one will do better. But, I haven't found anything that that does better than your hand in a small hole. Most holes I dig in parks are 3"-4" inches in diameter at most. Out in the woods.... no limit!
  5. We got our park closed to detecting because people were cutting the poly pipe waterlines with their digging tools. Not dangerous but something that was probably less than a foot....
  6. Man Steve, you had a good spot. A coin every 2.25 minutes if you were out there for 4 hours........ (what does "few hours" mean? usually 3 hours) Next time I'm in Reno, I'm going to follow you!!
  7. Because I don't do much coin detecting, I think I have found almost as many gold rings as nickels! A couple years ago, I cashed in maybe 15 or so rings..... don't think I've found a nickel or ring since.
  8. If you are working with yards, ounces per yard would be good. (As in placer mining) If you are working with tons, ounces per ton are good.(As in hard rock mining) A ton of material can be any size depending on the density and moisture content of the material.
  9. Seems a lot of the smaller mines that were running could continue.... If they had anyone to work.... most were in the war. Much of the equipment was gathered to make war ship, etc. I know some chrome mines were operating here in Siskiyou county but don't know of any gold mines.
  10. Hard to tell from picture.... There should be stones from foundation and/or fireplace? Probably a hand dug well and outhouse too.
  11. Looks like it may have burned down.... probably won't find anything but a melted lump of gold coins.... (I know someone that burned down an old house and in cleaning up the debris, they found a melted lump of silver weighing 300 pounds!)
  12. Another reason why you shouldn't blab a discovery.... http://www.wpxi.com/news/top-stories/fbi-digging-where-treasure-hunters-are-thinking-of-gold/716013192

  14. Steve, at least it looks like it will melt off in a couple of weeks. Here, Snow came down to about 2500 feet yesterday but is all melted off up to 4000 feet this am. No rain last night and blue sky this am!
  15. .3 what? grains ? grams? I assume grams..
  16. I think I have all those!! When my father passed away I grabbed them(at least a hundred) before they got discarded. A half dozen still sit in the "library" and they get switched every few months.
  17. I've found half eagles before.... waiting for the dollar piece and all the others
  18. I'll try that Steve I did loan it out to someone that had never used it before. Maybe something got pushed that shouldn't have.
  19. Turned my ATX on today and it makes no noise when I pump it to ground balance it. Still makes noise over targets but I don't know if it is ground balanced. Anyone else had this problem?
  20. I use ziplock bags..... that way you can partially close the end if you want. They have up to two gallon size.
  21. Steve, did you mean grain? My carrot picks up 3 grain pieces easily. Less that a 1/4 gram.
  22. Something funny about that.... where's the date? Must be a $1 piece?
