  1. Just let me know the GPS coordinates of the site of interest and I bring it to you 😉 I use my mask for the same purpose all the time....
  2. Great points, JP. And I can't wait for those little elliptical coils neither. I just hope that Coiltek won't run into supply constraints due to Covid. There will be a huge demand! GC.
  3. That's exactly my experience. But while the SDC remains unstable in unfavorable EMI conditions the 6000/11 can stabilize itself more effectively after some work, especially after a factory reset. GC
  4. I am already in party mood with the 6k (started 1st day). However, I just seem to be too busy picking up all the microscopic shallow stuff to ever get to the deeper targets. GC.
  5. The placers are east of Big Bear. Jim, any more information on where precisely? I googled it, but did not find anything. I plan to camp there soon..... GC
  6. As long as you don't expect any reality it can be entertaining to watch. You just have to know what it is and what it isn't, and get at peace with it. After a long day at work it is still nice to see "gold hunting" and the beautiful Australian landscapes. Fake or not I don't care and it serves my needs to relax after a long day sitting in the office surrounded by skyscrapers. We all know what the real deal looks like anyhow, so who cares. And as I said, better than watching the news or the stupid soap operas my wife is watching. GC
  7. Gpx 6000 with 14DD in conductive ground cancel mode. Works great at RP when the ground is wet. GC
  8. Some perspectives from Miners Den Australia. https://m.facebook.com/MinersDenAustralia/videos/choosing-between-a-gold-monster-1000-and-equinox-800-metal-detector/812032102752685/?refsrc=deprecated&_rdr
  9. Certainly better than watching the news, but perhaps not by much
  10. I don't own the Nox since my focus is on gold prospecting only, so I don't need the additional features the Nox has to offer. However, several prospectors I spoke to, including very seasoned quasi-professionals, who own both the Nox and the GM told me that the GM with the 5 inch coil has a slight edge over the Nox/6 for the really small gold. But there are different opinions on this forum. I happen to like the GM as part of a larger fleet of PI/ZVT detectors and it fits my VLF-gold needs perfectly. It certainly is a much better performer than the GB2 in hot ground and the iron meter works well for shallow targets (use iron meter in deep-and with discretion!, don't use disc/shallow). The GB2 is unbeatable for shallow tiny gold in very mild ground, but gold rich/ mild grounds are not very common. If you like versatility and are also into relic hunting then the Nox seems to be the much better choice and with more bang for the buck. But if you want to get those tiny flakes off of bedrock without missing anything, the GM will do a really good job with that. After all, the 6000 is called a PI-GM for a reason 🙂 GC
  11. Interesting, perhaps we are looking at a new SDC soon? Perhaps one with some sort of ZVT? GC
  12. That makes much more sense. Please help us poor US detectorists out and send Rob a nice big shipment so we can buy them. Such a simply tool and yet so impactful. I am really surprised that they are not readily available everywhere. Every operator should have one. All non-believers will be converted once they try it out (unless you are as fit as Simon) 😀 GC
  13. Here the two versions. The D-ring broke off quickly from the plastic bracket.
  14. I like the hipstick for several reasons. I don't need a harness (good for hot climates-body more ventilated), I can still have a small back pack or hydration bladder (not possible with harness), the weight distribution on the hips allows for excellent and effortless coil control (my 7000 floats horizontally totally balanced when I am not holding it with my hand), the ball and socket can easily be disconnected during digging or longer walking. One push and it is back in. Yes, it takes a while to get used to it, but once you have it for a day you never want to have anything else. Of course, the 6000/11 makes this obsolete. But with the 14DD or the 17 inch I put it back on. I also use it for the SDC when I have longer sessions without many targets. I once had my D-ring broken off where the bungee attaches so I replaced it with a little steel wire that you can screw tight. I had a previous version that uses a D-ring/strap instead of the D-ring/plastic bracket. I like those ones much better and they are more robust IMO. GC
  15. Hey Rob, please let me know when you get them back in. I am running on my spare. Thanks! GC
  16. Very nice, thanks YM. Definitly a bit more than what I found...😉. Yes, it would be nice to meet up one day, thanks. Perhaps you, aerospace guy and myself can set something up. Perhaps Dave (flakmagnet), Mitchel and Randy also want to join. GC
  17. Thanks, Gerry. You are doing a great service to the community with your field trainings. And the nuggets/specys your are posting are stunning! Very inspiring for all of us on DP. Most of all I like your enthusiasm for the passion we share. Norvic, there is an old saying: "Only the hard working man gets lucky".😁🤑 GC
  18. That would be huge. Especially because I am certain there is a lot more gold in heavy worked areas at reachable digging depth beyond VLF detecting limits. However, the current process of discrimination (based on inductance/conductivity differences) has extreme limitations (works better in mild soil and only with surface targets). Hence, something entirely new would have to be developed to discriminate reasonably well at depth. Perhaps Bruce will figure something out. I think this would be one of the biggest revolutions in metal detector history (i.e. ZVT with iron probability meter that works at depth and that can be used at the operators discretion) and would most certainly spark a new gold rush.😁 GC.
  19. So true, Gerry and thanks for explicitly mention this again here. I have state the same several times on this forum. As an example, in many areas of the CA Motherload a good VLF is the only detector that will be productive. If you plan to do metal detecting in one of the (few) areas of the original main Motherload belt where public detecting is still permissible (i.e Merced River Recreation Area, American River-Mineral Bar, North Yuba River-i.e. near Downieville) a VLF is the only detector you will need. In particular, the 7000 will lead to insanity quickly (verified!). It is so nice to dig a 3 foot hole only to discover a 30 foot buried water pipe from an old mining operation, or an old 8 inch chisel or unimaginable amounts of other trash from 10,000's of miners who infested these canyons over many decades. In general, for PI and ZVT you need to go to much more remote BLM locations (i.e. upper Plumas National Forrest), or better private land. GC
  20. Thanks, Randy. And nice job with your nuggets!! Yes, the Cargo Muchacho mountains have always been on my radar screen, unfortunately I haven't been there yet. I should go before you clean everything up 🙂 Yes, let's connect the next time I am down there. I will PM you. All the best for the new year! GC
  21. Alchemy works. All you need is a nuclear reactor https://www.wtamu.edu/~cbaird/sq/2014/05/02/can-gold-be-created-from-other-elements/
  22. Awesome, congrats. Job well done. And not a single piece of trash 🙂
  23. Good suggestion, Bill. I don't own the Goldmaster but it is definitely worth a try. The little flakes that I found were all shallow and totally within VLF reach, provided the hotrocks can be handled by the VLF. I am looking forward to hear GotAu's report, I think he wanted to give it a try. Just make sure you wipe those hotrocks with your hand before tossing them out. I had one signal splitting into two after wiping and found my first flake that way. 🙂 GC
  24. So true, thanks for the comments, GotAu. Just take a look at Northern Nevada with so much land claimed as speculation. I suspect the vast majority of these claims will never be worked. GC
