  1. Should I be concerned about interference in using it with the equinox? I know there are 16 frequencies to select but this is a new pp being used with a new detector.
  2. If I think more of a stand is needed I will come up with a homemade solution, which seems like it would be easy to do. Actually, coming up with problem solving solutions is one of my enjoyments in this hobby.
  3. With the cellphone-ish size of the pod, seems to me a cinch to find a nice fitting cover that you could so easily modify to make a good cover, if you're so inclined. I bet by summer there will be after market covers being offered by the Russian or Ukraine manufacturers
  4. Thanks for trying the experiment,Steve I'm fine with at least 8 hours run time however you use the machine
  5. Looks like it will power the nox for a few hours. Looks like a fine option. Will be using a 9000 mah charger as a backup
  6. The equinox will be the first detector I'm going to have from the moment of release. I knew from the time I first saw the detectival video that I would have one, even though I had to sell my Safari in order to have the funds early enough to be early on the preorder list. I'm looking forward to using the equinox while contributing to and following the user knowledge base, especially this forum.
  7. True any Bluetooth headphones can pair to the equinox but I'd be concerned they would not be of the low latency type ,and those that are probably cost more. Either get a spare Pair of APTx or use any wired headphones with the wm08.
  8. Its good to see someone with your detecting experience and experience with every conceivable detector that is so enthusiastic about the equinox.
  9. Thanks, Steve. I will certainly be in the iron- laden spots much of the time, but not all. The fact that you like them says a lot, It is my preference to use the aptX and to keep a pair of lightweight wired headphones I can use if the aptX run out before I'm done detecting, I do want to try wired phones with the wm 08 module simply because I can, although I assume the module has limited charge time too. I'm really looking forward to being untethered to the EQ. I've never used anything but wired headphones. While on the subject, although I have no intention of using the detector speaker, I assume doing so would significantly shorten battery run time?
  10. I've never had Bluetooth headphones or earbuds that lasted as long on a charge As stated or advertised. Steve, I know you have used them so maybe you can say how long they last before shutting off?
  11. Why I want Equinox multi-freq. or separate-frequency. Depth with accurate ID fast and adjustable recovery adjustable tone breaks ground balance tracking wireless headphones waterproof, durability, lightweight to unmask good colonial targets in iron-strewn sites and all other terrain and to do more fresh water detecting.
  12. Thanks everyone for the great replies. I have two takeaways I. I am feeling a bit of site-envy after reading Randy's excellent post and 2. Based on many of the comments I'm thinking we may give Equinox a case of performance anxiety! Hopefully, the long arduous wait will soon be over, and we can move on from speculation to reality based postings
  13. Well I'm installing a folding devise like I did for my f75, so I have a large duffle bag I use to store and carry detector to digging sites. The duffle bag has been customized to hold the folded detector plus short shovel and knee pads even finds- pouch. I can wear it like a backpack for hiking into spots in the woods.
  14. So rediculously funny! Makes me think of the 10 deutch Reich phennig coin I dug up at an old New Jersey farmhouse. So good As a matter of fact, I'm gonna watch it again. Bravo
  15. Thanks to everyone that contributed to this excellent thread. I haven't up to now paid very much attention to discussions about wet salt sand detecting as I have never as yet done any beach detecting. Be that as it may, this was an interesting and informative thread.
  16. I'm sticking with what Minelab said in theirDecember 23 announcement, and disregarding anything to the contrary that is not coming in the form of an official announcement.
  17. Chris, I have a folding mechanism ready to install on my Equinox. I did it first on my f75 and it's awesome. It's a $40 part and takes an hour to install. Only adds 5 oz. to detector weight.
  18. Steve, it's precisely because I know you will be thorough and objective in all your postings and articles about the Equinox, that this will be my number one forum for all matters related to the Equinox. Further, I believe anyone that comes to this forum just to trash the equinox will be called out. I look forward to posting my own results and comments as I put my new equinox 800 into action. As I mentioned elsewhere in the forum, the equinox is the first detector I will be getting at first release, and I intend to be fully involved in the process alongside everyone else.
  19. As the arrival of the Equinox nears I know what forum I will coming to as we start using the Equinox in our main detecting locations. I'm curious what types of detecting environments people on this forum detect in. For myself I do a lot of woods hunting, celllar hole hunting with emphasis on colonial relics. I hunt fields whenever possible, and like to detect old parks and private permissions. Many of my best sites are iron/ laden and I'm hoping the EQX 800 will help unlock the finds I'm sure are still there.
  20. I have a paid, pre ordered EQX 800 I'm waiting for, but I did consider getting a 600 before I paced my order. I decided I wanted the 20 KHz frequency and the full run of settings options. It wasn't worth it to me to save a couple hundred bucks and possibly regret the selection down the road.
  21. After I got my recharge unit from amazon I found that it fit perfectly in an old garmin gps storage sleeve. I got the idea of mounting it under the equinox arm but to fasten it there I will probably drill small holes in the plastic underarm (stand) and use 4" black zip ties to fasten the holder there. Then when I need to use it for recharging I just have to slip the charger in connect the cable and I'm off and running. I suppose anyone can design and offer something creative, but usually I come up with something of my own to solve the problem. Minor modifications that enhance detecting are especially fun.
  22. Got one on order they say some time in January so maybe it'll come same day as my equinox
  23. I bought already for backup power for the equinox a 9000 mAh charger that is about 21/2" x 31/4" x 7/8" and weighing 7 oz so I hope to attach a slip-in holder to the underside of the equinox arm rest so I'm not tethered to the detector when I'm charging on the run, and I'm hoping that placing it there will offset any nose heaviness in the overall balance. Well that's the plan, and I can also use the charger on the Bluetooth headphones if they run low during an outing.
  24. The equinox will be best at finding the great finds all the other detectors have been missing!
