  1. Its not good business sense either . People wont know if they should buy one or not . And i have to say i only know one person who has one . Every time i go to my local dealer that sells them , they say they rarely sell them . If Tesoro / Laser is going to get sales going again they need to up date their models considerably . With machines like the Equinox , Deus / ORX and new models from Macro etc . Tesoro either have to update or fold. I started out detecting late in 2002 and the only machines i remember them bringing out were the Lobo and Wolftrax . And they are old style machines. Before Minelab brought out the Equinox i thought Minelab were getting ready to bite the dust Hobby wise but they seem to have woken up again , for now. Maybe another company "Whites" should look out too , their hobby machines are old mostly except for a few cheap machines but their top end is dated i think. I think there are too many detector companies out there and i bet there will be a few going to the wall sooner or later. Maybe they have other business like Industry and Mine and Gold but they are not for most and certainly not in Europe. Also the Equinox has hit sales of other companies "maybe not Garrett" and look at the secondhand market , an ET selling just before the Nox came out was likely to fetch £650 for a 2 year old mint condition one but now its sub £500 and even then they are hard to sell . And what about the CTX depreciating value from new ! They sell them with extras like the big coil and maybe a probe etc but try selling them after a year . E.bay is awash with old FBS/FBS2 machines selling for way under their true value . I think they have become very cheap detecting these days . I for one wont be selling my ET , it wont get a good enough price and is too good a machine to sell in its current condition for Peanuts.
  2. Should i assume that DM on the inside of the band stands for Diamond ?
  3. I use Beach 2 everywhere at the moment but have my own settings . I cannot remember them off my head . But Gray Ghost headphones are a must to get the best from this machine . My beaches do get done a lot by others too , and Cashless society is killing the new losses but there are still a lot of older stuff about if the conditions are right. There is no way to discrim Aluminium .
  4. Yesterday morning i went to one of my beaches and searched from mid day till 4pm sunset . I found the beach looking quite good and thought it would be good for Gold . I started on a small beach first and found a few older Pound coins and other coins that had obviously been there a long while. I then hopped over onto another beach by that one which is normally very good in the Summer wasn't good and i found almost nothing . Going onto the next beach i found this beach to be very different and saw very hard cuts into the higher end of the beach . I started to find many coins amongst the millions of nails and other Iron . Half way along i found a few coins and then got a target that i didn't check on the meter and dug it . I suddenly saw yellow and when i picked it up found it was a 22k Gold ring , it says on the ring 22kDM916 . I also found old early 1900's Pre Decimal coins . A short while later i found a Stainless Steel ring and a junk Shark thing and a 1 Euro , a US 2010 Five Cent and a coin with a hole in it . I then turned around and headed back and finished at 4pm . My finds for the day were £35.72p in coinage , a 1 Euro , a US 5 Cent , an unknown coin , several Pre Decimal coins , a junk Shark , the Stainless Steel ring and the 22k Gold ring . The stone in the pictures is a lot clearer , it might be the Bluetac thats making it dull. I would have gone today but i will on Wednesday morning , not sure it will be the same place .
  5. Its a pity that the hobby is turning into a secret society.. I like to share up to a point my experience and on MLO I have my ET beach programs. My Nox beach 2 program seems to work well too . I blame Faceachebook for the demise of forums and also its to blame for the large amount of new small clicky clubs that have formed up lately. They are the sort that flood farmers with requests for land and put farmers off. They are also less likely to declare finds unlike the older more experienced clubs of old. Being in secret groups on Faceachebook means everything is hidden. Faceachebook has a lot to answer for, glad I am not on it . Can someone hack into banks and screw up card and phone payment so cash can come back!
  6. There is always the possibility that they might be lying and do go on forums but dont contribute , just read. Look at the Minelab Owners Forum . 15241 at last count and people register but almost all dont hang around . If you look on the "who's online " its almost all guests . Up till now today its been 40 members and just over 1000 guests . I hope its not peak detecting here in the UK , i want to find a hoard . But i do think its past peak beach detecting now . The cashless society is killing it . My finds rate is killing it too . On my local beaches .
  7. I bought my 6 inch and 15 inch coils today , i also got a new carbon fiber stem . I traded in my Macro Multi Kruzer . Its not getting used so it had to go. Roll on a good ripped out beach now .
  8. Why? Withe the beach hunter being waterproof it will be more likely to last longer .
  9. I have only just found out about the TDI Beachhunter . I had the old TDI a few years ago and always wanted Whites to bring a waterproof version out . Now they have , one day it might be on my list to buy .
  10. I have Windows Professional , that didn't work either.
  11. Not noticed anything other than better and clearer target signals .
  12. I have windows 7 but that wouldn't work for me either . So i got my windows 10 laptop out and that worked fine. Just bought another 800 as a spare and will have to update that too when i get around to it.
  13. I went , i saw , i tried . But i was wasting my time . I walked along the tide line for a mile but its all the same . Built up . So i came home and ended up typing this. On Wednesday i will go to another beach where i found a Gold / Silver ring and hopefully its better there . I will go back to todays beach on Thursday . After that i am working for 6 days.
  14. On my way out soon to the beach . Will be 6 or 7 hours from 12 midnight till 6 or 7am . Nox will be the weapon of choice . Not sure if it will be worthwhile , the windy weather has done some shifting but i think it might be in the wrong way . I will search an area of 2 miles along the lower beach from West to East . I can keep the wind in my back too.
  15. Yes it is . It could have been double but the beaches are still too built up . Todays weather has not helped i think. Will see on Sunday . Seen your test , the Nox with my Beach 2 program worked well and was better with the new update . Sounds are much clearer even in iron .
  16. It is a productive beach but cashless society is killing the coin hunting compared to the past . There are about 15 people detecting the beach i go too but not all at the same time and many not with the right machine or know where to go . Trash levels make it difficult for some machines to know what target is what . Then theres the EMI / WIFI .
  17. I am happy with the new version . Its not brought out for nothing . I think its clearer on signals .
  18. Last night after work i went to the beach for 9pm . It was dark and difficult to see much but i could tell that the normal areas i search were to built up to find much so i went East and saw that it was a lot better . though still built up. My Nox was updated last week and i wanted to see what it was like .There was no WIFI or EMI about and the machine was stable . I didn't expect much and the Summer crowds have gone , but if the beach had ripped a bit that might produce some older stuff . From the start i started to find coinage and for the entire "almost" 1.5 miles i found coinage till 2am when i finished to get the Bus home . There were no rings about as i was on the dry and quite high up the beach , though below high tide mark. None of the targets were very deep , at most 6 inches . But the targets were more stable and clearer . By the time i finished the hunt i had found exactly £72.00p in spendable coinage and a few foreign coins and 7 fishing weights . My next hunt will be Saturday night for high tide till 5am when out . I think the Nox is working better but when i put my phone on and searched late in the night i found it still suffers WIFI interference , i turned it off and it cleared . I dont use the boxed headphones but use Gray Ghosts with an adapter plugged into the WM08 . The second picture is the coinage straight out of the finds pouch.
  19. I have been limited at the moment in going to the beach because i have to see Mum in Hospital nearly every day in London . She has now had her Lung operation and is hopefully on the mend . But yesterday i didn't go to see her and will later today . I instead went to bed early last night and at 1.30am this morning got up and took the ET to the beach . I wanted to have a quick search on the tops before going onto the wet and looking for rings . I didn't expect much coinage , the weather has been raining for a couple of days and other detectorists would have cleaned up the coinage if any in most places . I got to the beach at around 2.15am and searched the dry tops for 2 hours getting little coinage mostly , though most of what i had today . When the sand started to show i went onto it and almost immediately found a Silver ring (middle left) on the blue tack and a few coins . A bit further along i had a 12 23 signal and i did think yellow , i just had that feeling and when i dug it out it turned out to be just that . Its a 2.7g 9k (top) , that is my 7th for the year so far , a short time later i found a junk ring ( bottom) . On that particular beach i found no more and left and searched a small beach but that was baron on the sand and as i had now reached the point where the tide was turning i went straight for one last place . I searched and found mostly 1p and 2p coins and the dark £1 coin in black sand . Then i had another high tone which i thought 2p but that turned out to be the Silver ring with the turquoise stone in it . I found a junk chain with stones not long after and the junk earring and a Silver Pendent with the Amber in it . At the end of the search at around 6.15 am i had found a total of £15.16p and the said jems . I have to see Mum today and i might not be home before 10.30pm tonight so i might not make tomorrow morning ? But it is a long tide and i have the game on and smell yellow so might bare it and go on the red eye at 4am if i wake up. That will be an ET search too . My Nox is still in the box and not set up , being that i sold my first Nox . I will get that out and use that in a few weeks time when the Summer season is over . That is for the sand only when its stirred by the waves and wind.
  20. After work yesterday i went to the beach at 9pm for a start at 9.30pm . There is a big thing going on at this weekend and the beaches are very crowded . I started low down the beach but found little so started to search between the crowds and found coins , if the beach was less busy at that time i would have found much more . Later in the search i found a £10 note and then a £20 note . I also found a few mobile phones but left them alone , cant be bothered with them . As it says in the title it was a big q!55 up and there was tons of rubbish all over the place . I always take a rucksack with me and i found during the search 16 440 and 500 ml tins of Stella and other Beers , i also had 3 liters of drink in the ruck for me too so i was getting weighed down by the time i found all that and there was lots more beer i could have picked up but had to leave . At the end of the search which i had to cut short because of the Beer i had found 2 junk rings , the 2 notes and £62.92p in coinage , no picture of the Beers , 3 have gone now . I would have stayed on the beach till the first Bus at around 8am but i was knackered . I dont know if i can get back out this week . Mum is going into Hospital in London Guy's Hospital for her Lung Cancer Operation on Wednesday , when she comes home all being well she will need to be looked after and i am taking unpaid leave from work to do that for a week or 2 . Maybe Thursday or Friday is possible but ? On Tuesday i will be selling my first Equinox 800 to someone i know from a previous club membership . He needs a new machine and i feel i only need 1 Nox anyway , i will buy new coils laters for it. The next search will be with the ET or the Terra again . I will use the newer Nox later .
  21. I would like to see one being taken out . It might not be easy?
  22. Nice coin that first one. I seem to find a ring whether Gold or mostly Silver almost every time i go out with mine too.
  23. I think it would be the battery too. But ..? As for the battery . I would love to see one being taken out of the machine on Youtube . Might need to replace one one day .
