  1. Chief Klunker, That statement right there spoke volumes with me.
  2. Well there is no I in TEAM. But there is META in METAL Detector. You have to be a team player with your detector. You have to feel and listen to what information it feeds you. You have to give it what it needs. Putting it over the right kind ground to have success on. You members on the forums ,clubs, groups and other fellow detectorists are like coaches .Giving and trading information with you to help prep your gameplan. You , yourself has to study the game film. Find the strategy that works. Get boots and coils on the ground. Find the right field to swing successfully in. Swing with confidence. And sometimes you need to need to part ways with your old teammate. You need to make a trade. Trade up to the new young prospect. The one that gives you the best chance to win. Or do you keep the old veteran? The one you have won with for years. So swing like a champion today!
  3. I don't even know if it is feasible. I was just wondering how a triangular shaped coil would work. I know nothing about making a coil or what it takes to make one work. Nor do I care to, as long as it works. Just seems that a triangle shape could get into some nooks and crannies that other shapes couldn't.
  4. Well I sold the sdc 2300, sold my dredge. I still have my gpx 5000 with all of my coils.I have the Deus. Was planning on getting the gpz 7000. But the jury is still out on that. It is still early in the game for me to decide to make a run for it or not. I've always been 2-3 years behind on detector technology. From everything I have absorbed into my thick noggin, the 7000 is a superior machine to the 5000. But is it almost twice as much money better? I think that is for you to decide. So if I decide to... Well I'm go have eat my spinach, drink my ovaltine , and whole heartedly jump into it with both feet. Have no looking back and no regrets. No woulda, coulda, shoulda!!!!
  5. Glad you brought these points up. All valid points. I asked a question awhile back about some of the cons of the GPZ7000 and got a snippy reply. So I just kept my trap shut and can draw my own conclusions. A few other points I would to bring out. 1. Arm rest strap. If you were to wear a thick coat on colder days the Velcro strap is too short. 2. The clip for the wireless module is inadequate. 3. Gps. Maybe this valid or not. But the info of where you detect. Where does this go? Or where is it shared? I hold some of my patches secret and just how secure this info would be . Either offline or when you interface? Thank you Steve for bringing this thread into the open.
  6. In some areas. All you need is one inch more depth to find more nuggets.
  7. Buy from ME. I got 2 in the classifieds. Lol. I was thinking of selling my other detector too. Never had no success with it. It is a Binford CFS 5150. ( Can't Find Shite).
  8. My grandfather. A very proficient prospector. Taught me a few things about dowsing. 1. Unwind the rods by spinning them before use. 2. Ask the dowsing rods questions. ( like where are the major concentrations of gold in this area. 3. He had two sets of dowsing rods. He wrapped silver wire on one set and gold wire on the other. Depending on what lode he was in search of. I believe it works to a extent. Nothing more or less.
  9. The foothills are always beautiful this time of year. Nice LIL gold.
  10. Just goes to show. Half the battle is getting the coil over it.Don't need a xtra 40% to find these lumps.
  11. Not a technical question. But being tall at 6'5". One thing I liked about the GPX 5000 was able to customize it with a longer upper or lower shaft. wondering how the ZED would fit me? Guess I got to find someone to get the feel for it.
  12. These minelab go find detectors will be perfect for mom in law. Maybe Me too.
  13. Not that I know of. I got them years ago from Chet N. In Arizona. He is still on my Facebook . I can contact if need be...
  14. I have the 5000 model. And mine worth more because they have patina. Don't ever clean them! It will diminish the value.
  15. I like the ICMJ shows better. Too bad not happening this year...
  16. I like it. I think it will attract many people into our sport. Any priced right. Maybe some reverse psychology from minelab. Yes! Detectorists are athletes too!
  17. Quoted from another forum at http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?p=2292069 just saw a video on it and also Gary Shafer from Minelab talked about it a good while and it is going to be a game changer .. it has Bluetooth and cellphones apps so it can send your finds straight to your phone, 7.8 kHz weighs 2.3 lbs ... going to be on sale this spring, 3 models, 20-40-60 price range $179 - $309 ... also has ground tracking and can be used in wet salt beaches ... going to make the Garrett Ace series Dinosaur's ... folds up to less than 2' long .... has a touch screen ... the list goes on and on
  18. Saw this Minelab Go-Find on another site. I can't find any other info on it.
  19. Ask him how it works on cooking mercury amalgamated gold off? All kidding aside. What seems to be people's concerns at the show on the Zed 7000 ?
  20. I have both the 5000 and the sdc2300. And have come to the realization that I have to be happy with them. Just because the 7000 is out doesn't make them less effective. Still great machines. Wishing I had a 7000. But like my momma's says" wish in one hand and s#*t in the other, and see what hand fills up first".
