We lost our Queensland blue heeler about 3 years ago. We are now just ready to get another female Queensland, tail bobbed.
-
I'm in favor of starting a permanent thread where we can honor our wonderful companions.

I'm the same way with my pups. So sorry for your family's loss.

I have two PHD's. A Portola High Diploma, and a Post Hole Digger. I've worked on a few bikes. Hoping to get my Professor of Harley Davidson soon. Lol

The claim we are going to has easy access and great color to be found. Plenty of area to camp for free. And AMRA (American mining rights association) is going to put on a few meals. It should be a great time. -

Like I always say," I'm not worried about the 4 legged animals, it's the 2 legged one the watch out for". -

They do bust some operations. Usually wait till later in the year near harvest. So things to look out for. Usually at lower elevations(3500) ft and below. Usually southern exposure. Off of main waterways, (looking for springs, then gravity feed to the plants. The hair on the back of your neck was put there for a reason. USE IT! -

Well it is legal for individuals to grow at home in California for their personal use. In turn, the weed market has pretty much dropped out here in California. But the Mexican cartels are growing here and taking the buds back east. They ruin our forrests with their trash, human waste, and commercial fertilizers they use to grow. Plus they are heavily armed. Without going into details, I've had a nice confrontation before. Don't go unarmed! -
Opals and N. Nevada Gold
Sourdough Scott replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Rocks, Minerals, Gems & Geology
Had a wonderful time digging opals. I did'nt find some of the best specimens in our group of a dozen, that were easily seen by the naked eye. But I think I have a few encrusted pieces that are hiding beauty inside. I then went to do some detecting, but had caught a cold. And when I got there. Something was blooming from all of the recent rain. My allergies were flaring. So I left and got no detecting in . Will post some pictures later. -

Staying at some hot springs. These minerals are in the water. Got to be completely hydrated with minerals to find them, right? -
I used mine several times. No issues.

Going to this place. This is a 1st time for digging opals for me. Going with a few from our Reno GPAA and and Reno detecting clubs. http://kokopelliopals.com/ -
Success before work is only in the dictionary .

Heading to dig Opals in Virgin Valley for a day. Then heading north of Rye patch for a few days of detecting with a few friends. Hope the ground has dried some. Will be the 1st time in the desert with the Minelab GPZ 7000.

Ordinary Rock Collections

One of the funniest things I tell people when they ask me to help identify a rock. I tell them it is a "sexstone". They say what? I tell them it is just another Effing rock. -
Do any of you collect rocks with unique shapes or markings, colors, compositions ? I have been collecting heart shaped for years. But my wife found this heart imprinted rock last weekend while we were prospecting. She gave it to me. Her favorite prospector.

From what I know from 15 something years ago. The 16 TO 1 Mine, was having a dry spell. I remember hearing they scanned the walls with a Whites GMT,and found some big pockets. No reason why a GPZ couldn't do a better job now and find some "just out of the reach of other older detectors"?
