  1. He was right side up in Australia. Love reading the adventures.
  2. I feel it would be nice to be able to transfer to all OS platforms. At the moment I don't have a Pc. I use a chromebook, tablet and smartphone. All android. So in the field the smallest, lightest weight possible, the better. Heck, they make a android app for my Minelab GO-FIND. I can transfer from my Go-pro camera to my smartphone. Then I might be able to use the data.
  3. Just have them track me. Ill be the designated decoy detectorist. I'll put them on a wild goose chase. I'll put them near gold, but they won't find much, like me. Their rigs will be all scratched up. Mosquito and gnat bitten to hell. Hiking up and down Mt.Goat paths. Bears and Mt.Lions. So PM me for my address and you can come slap and tracking device on my rig. I will destroy you with useless knowledge.
  4. Been fascinated on how Aussie prospectors stay for extended periods in the bush? What do you do for? Water storage Solar/ 12v batteries, inverters, Charging Refridgerator Freezers Food Keeping cool Truck setup Clothing Shelter Keeping BEER COLD! Protection from animals and bugs Bathing and toilet I love the fact that automobile makers offer you rigs that are setup to handle your enviroment .
  5. All I know she is a licensed audiologist. She is going to give me the simplest test. She said she has experience with other detectorists. So I thought it was cool she said bring the detector with me.
  6. I've never had my hearing checked since high school. Many rock concerts, gun shooting, and saws and nail guns since then. Just called to schedule a appointment with the audiologist. 25 bucks. She even said bring the detector with me and she will make sure my hearing and pitch of the detector will be in perfect tune. I feel a small price to pay to make sure I'm not missing any targets.
  7. I own one. All my got to say is, while going through some rough terrain. Trying to maneuver with detector in hand. I barely hit the black plastic foot. It cracked it in half. I had to gorilla glue it back on. I use my tools, not abuse them. IMHO it just seems that a little more thought could have went into some little details to make the machine more bulletproof. Not bashing. Opinions are like A-holes, everyone has one.
  8. Yep, seems like $9994 went into new R&D on technology. And $5 went into ergonomics and common sense functionality and toughness. Right?
  9. I have some friends doing beach and lake detecting. A couple of them just purchased the Sand Shark. I don't know much about them. Anyone have any experience with them?
  10. Just like with atv's. The manufacturer who also makes snowmobiles. The plastic is better to hold up to colder and harsher abuse. So I always buy a atv from one thst also make snowmobiles.
  11. Great speaking engagement by Ray tonight. So much info he taught our group. Also a very generous gentlemen. Donated a book for the raffle and also a 1.5 dwt nugget. Much appreciated!
  12. Spanish Springs Library 7100 A Pyramid Hwy. Sparks, NV 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  13. On Monday June 22nd. We have Ray Mills (TRINITYAU) Speaking at 6pm . He will be selling his new book. Thanks Ray. http://www.gpaaofnorthernnevadareno.com/events.html
  14. When I find useful information on here, like from Klunker above. I do a screenshot with my smartphone. That way I can refer to it in the field if needed. I guess a modern 3x5 card.
  15. I took some kydex (plastic used to make form fitting holsters and sheaths) and formed it around the standoff foot on the 7000. Easy to do with a heat gun.
  16. I'll try that. I also tempted the lighting gods in those storms. But I tried the Bogenes setup. The ground was saturated wet from the rains. I cranked up the sensitivity all the way. Then dropped the threshold a few clicks below audible. When the ground got a little noisier, I would go into low smoothing. If no noise, then smoothing off. Seemed to work for me. I pulled about 2 dwt of small pieces in a heavily worked patch. I feel the less you try to run like a 5000 and make the 7000 work with your ground and atmospheric conditions. Even if running it outside your comfort zone. Not over thinking it. The more successful you can be.
  17. Was on the NF of the Yuba last weekend. Water is low like a October level.
  18. Well, the event was a success. We had nearly 25 veterans. And approximately 25 grams of gold found amongst our common operations. Met many fantastic people and forged some new friendships. All the gold found went to the Veterans. Couple of people really enjoyed and would like to continue to learn prospecting. Other were happy to cross it off of their bucket list. But I am just happy to give back in my way for those that have sacrificed so much.
  19. We are expecting a full house of guests. Stop by if in the neighborhood. A mile south of Loganville on 49 . Between Downieville and Sierra City.
  20. I try to get both knobs at about the 1 o'clock position. With almost a faint hum of threshold. And keep the copper ring on the probe about a 1/8 back of the red ring. Im going ro be using mine this weekend.
  21. It is a great tool. To use in holes or crevices. I also use mine on highbanking. I hole punch and then scan the layers to find the pay. If you purchase, I'll give you some tips on getting the most out of it.
  22. Yes, have contacted the dealer. Should be getting them soon. Otherwise I have had zero issues with my 7000. But want to have a ring if needed.
