  3. Had a guy i work with call me asking if i would come to East Tahoe to detect for a ring one of his church members lost during a baptism Sunday. He said he knew pretty well the area that it should be in-------- So i said what the heck, I have never had my detectors in the lake so I told him i would be there. Well, I took out the trusty 7005 with all the "paulsmods"--- and walked down to the water---the sand was mainly decomposed granite and seemed have a low mineral content--- Using the 7005 with the '7500hz' concentric 'modded coil'--i set out into the cold, clear water of Tahoe.....it is amazingly clear. I listened to where my friend said he thought it may be and i started walking gently up to my ........"quit it area" brrrrrrr...... I was in water as deep as i could go, without submerging the control box, as I started sweeping and within 15 feet i heard two targets at the same time a high and a med audio-- i was on 4 tone=-- My friend was using my handheld sand scoop to dive and dig ------ he was having a hard time digging because he would float up when he put pressure on the scoop---so we kinda scratched off that target as a training hole--- I began my grid of about 20 feet to the south and was amazed at how quiet the sand was--i was expecting way more trash targets-- i guess the 7005 had them all discriminated out for me--(i haven't figured out all the settings go yet) OK,.... i turned back north to the area i began and started my return sweep---kinda like mowing the lawn---when i got back to my starting point I hit the same targets i had hit at the beginning.... So i told my digger to go a little deeper with the scoop this time,,,,-----and to make sure he did,,,,, i pushed down on his back as he was ("digging/bubbling and screaming for me to let him up) But alas..... we had the ring this time!!!!--- a beautiful Hawaiian handmade men's band weighing in at approximately 1/4 -1/2 ounce..... and it was the ring we were after! The owner lives over in Dayton NV which is about 50- 60 miles away, but just happened to be in the area and he came rushing down to the beach when we texted him and told him we had found his wedding band---Man was he happy!!! Some milestones for me today- -First ring -First water recovery -First ring with the 7005 -First ring in Tahoe -First time i ever tried beach hunting in the water I like it !!!!!! Please use your zoom--- i couldn't figure out how to blow it up....
  4. Sounds like a good day to me!!!!!!!!

  7. The 7005 could have found that nugget from here in NV!
  8. you right--it is ....it is... I have to break out the 7005 to get some good stuff----- like the screw from my trailer in the back yard grass,,,,NO Way the ZED could have found it...it was up against the wooden fence too close...lolol I have to be careful when i use it now because guys in suits and sunglasses start showing up...you know just acting casual--then i have to lead them on a wild goose chase around town until i lose them.....hahaha

  12. Hey Vic, I told Chris Porter (hipstick inventor) that you had a piece break---he asked me if i would let you know he has a new one in the mail to you. There you go!!! Thanks again for the specimens! paul
  13. Hello Everyone, I asked permission from my friend Norvic to post some pictures of some species and other gems that he had sent to me out of the kindness of his heart. I hope i got the pictures focused properly and you can see some of the detail a few of these have. The piece of native copper is my favorite i think.... what is yours? Vic told me i could clean the copper piece up and put a coat of poly on it---but i am hesitant to do that--- i really like it as is....if you can zoom in well enough on my picture you and get a good look at the patina. How about it,,, ? ---What do you all think, Should i clean it or leave her alone??? Vic say it really looks good all clean and shiny too----- but......... i love that color patina.... I would never have picked up the other things like agates and zircons---need to learn a little more on gemstones---maybe i could actually read that field guide in my truck console instead of just carrying it around!!! BTW, My heart seem to be doing great---way more energy than before---and I am almost sure that I am much more handsome than i used to be...... hahahaha Anyway, I hope you all are well... paul Some of you may recognize a couple of these...hahahaha
  14. the stock 8 or 11 inch monos are hard to beat from what ive seen...... Steve will know more if you can tell him what area you plan to be in in AK Good hunting!!!
  15. Thanks to my buddy at Rye Patch, I got to swing the ZED for a couple of hours last week and was impressed ---- It feels lighter to me than swinging the 2300---balance i suppose---- i used it with and without that crazy outrigger and either way was fine with me. But im still not buying one....lol-- Trying to be a drywasher now---(but it wont quit raining )---and even with the rain--- the creeks are low and too slimy to walk for fear of breaking an ankle -- This year has been very trying for me---and a few others too.... Need to back up and punt!!!
  16. Rob and I did the same ting up at WSPA1 last year--worked like dogs rolling rocks and clearing a huge bush out of the way----- Got one little piece!!! But it didnt bother us too badly because we just took a ride down to Bassett's and got us a apple pie milkshake---mmmmmmm,,,,mmmmm
  17. I knew it was said in jest, but anyone with a pacemaker should not wear it around their neck. That goes for cell phones in your left front shirt pocket too. Have fun with your ZED smoke rings... Lolol
