  1. V80 11" 1266g , then almost the same as an Equinox 11 , and less than a Legend 11 ( 1490g ) Quest |V serious metal detector for the pro (questmetaldetectors.com)
  2. Yes the same for me , I use it all the time even with the 9" now .. It is a must have especially in woods-forests where the soil is often difficult to dig and a target can easily be damaged when you dont exactly know where it is ..
  3. Were you using a pinpointer with this 11X13 ? Curious to know because I could not use even a 11 coil without a pinpointer now ...
  4. SMFs goes deeper than monofreqs on medium and big targets in mild soils . Compare for example your high freq gold detectors with a SMF on a 10g copper coin at 11" depth in a moderately mineralized soil . The SMFs will hit it and the gold detector wont, neither the Orx if set on a high freq . The Orx will detect it only if you set a low frequency like 5khz . This is what I have measured on my bed tests . On the other hand monofreqs are still excellent for example in open fields where the targets are usually shallow
  5. Yea I have tested a Quest X5 which is an excellent detector for a beginner at 180E , and a Q30+ which is more sophisticated with wireless headphones but I found it a little heavy for me . Yes there has been a fraud story but this was a long time ago and now Quest designs and produces their own models , and they are very well designed ... I dont know for the US but in France every MD seller proposes Quest in addition to the historical XP , ML , Nokta etc brands Please find below a link to the Quest French Importing seller in Paris , they have 2 very good videos about Quest products , the 1st one about the X5 , X10 , Q20 , Q30. The second one about the X10 pro. The video of the V60/V80 should come soon .. The vids are in French perhaps they can be translated in English by Youtube I dont know ... GUIDES VIDÉO : DÉTECTEURS DE MÉTAUX, PÊCHE À L'AIMANT ET ORPAILLAGE (maisondeladetection.com)
  6. Very interesting but what about its audio ? We never hear the detector at least once during this vid ... Or may be it has no audio lol ... 🙂
  7. Great idea I like it thx for the vid ... However I wonder if the CB is removable or not . If it is removable then it could be hipmounted for example ... It would be a pity if the CB is simply screwed on the shaft
  8. I dont think they really need an additional market , they have opened a second factory and from what I know they are already overbooked with the D2 production because of a strong demand ...
  9. There are only 2 components to charge with the D2 WS6 master version , the coil and the wireless headphones. Then not different from "wired" detectors where you have to charge the CB and the wireless heaphones ... At least XP offers the choice for those wanting simple and affordable devices .. Concerning the battery life issue , I charge my D2 every 2 or 3 outings , always both the coil and headphones together . I have never had any charge issue with my D2 in the field . I didnt even know that the coil and headphones battery life were different ...
  10. I dont think I am the only one who prefers light detectors . Think about children , women , people having health issues and more generally all the users for who detection cumfort is a priority . And precisely the wireless technology allows to design light machines suppressing the coil cable and the need of a CB mounted on the shaft .. I understand that wired coils may have advantages for example for beach water hunting but I dont think that XP will make a wired version of the Deus . Future will tell ...
  11. With a wired Deus2 you would have to forget the lightweight . First a coil cable weighs around 80g , second there must a CB mounted on the shaft , then add 150g . At end the detector would be 230g heavier than a WS6 master version , which means a 230g/850g = 27% weight increasement ... And the Deus2 would loose a major advantage vs the competition . In other words an heavy Deus is not a Deus any more ... 🙂
  12. I am not surprised by this , I have done many side by side field test comparisons between a Deus1 and an Equinox in my area ( North of France ) . This area is infested with irons from the Roman ages to the 1st WW shell fragments . At each time the Deus1 was performing ( much ) better than the Equinox , either with a 11 or the 8 small coil ... My soil is moderately mineralized then I think that its the iron disc signal processing management that explains the difference, rather than the mineralization level . Just my opinion ..
  13. Hi Detectornado , I am not a beach specialist but if you dont plan to go in the water you might perhaps consider the Deus2 WS6 master version , which is significantly cheaper than the RC version ( 850E instead of 1450 ) . And there are almost all the RC functionalities on the WS6 headphones , including beach modes .. The menu system is ok for me , may be not perfect just like the other brands .. 🙂 Considering the depth performances , as said above the 3 ( Legend , Deus2 , Manticore ) are probably very close to each other . If you prefer light detectors the Deus2 is much lighter than the others , starting from 750g ( with the 9" coil ) while the Manticore weighs 1,3kg and the Legend 1,5kg . For me the weight is the most important difference between the 3 detectors . Buy a Legend only if weight is not a pb for you ... Minelab has an excellent reputation for beach hunting and there are many Equinox 800 users on the French coasts . So you would probably not be disappointed by the new Equinox 900 which replaces the 800 . I would not buy a Manticore considering its excessive price in Europe ( 2000E ) .. Just my 2 (euro)cents 🙂 . Hope that helps ..
  14. Thanks strick , yes the soil is neutral and not acid at all in this forest, and all the finds are in great condition . For some reason it is different 2 or 3 miles to the west where the soil is more acid ..
  15. My Quest Xpointer Max settings : SENS MIDDLE , WHITE LIGHT OFF , RED/GREEN LIGHT OFF , LOST OFF , DISC ON , VOLUME 1
  16. I will answer this evening for the settings . Ensure that the cover is tightly screwed , I remember having had issues because of this ..
  17. Weird I have no pb with mine, I use it since a year and it is very reliable . Perhaps your is faulty ?
  18. Great vids thanks a lot Rattlehead , a very serious and honest field test + side by side comparison between the Mcore , the Deus2 and the CTX . Well it looks like depth perfos are almost identical between the Mcore and the D2 set on DHC , this can be seen on the 1st vid at 2.22 on the Mercury dime , where both detectors are at their depth limits . I would say that the Mcore goes slightly deeper than the D2 , but the D2 is much lighter than the Mcore and the D2 WS6 master "Lite" version is half the price of a Mcore ... Then I have no concern for XP they will sell their D2s 🙂... The same for ML and the Mcore which seems to be a very good detector too 🙂...
  19. This morning my cousin invited me for an outing in a small forest 2 or 3 kms far from from a little town. The forest surface is around 80 acres and belongs to the city . As there were a few soldiers camps during the 1st WW it is a good place for finding 1st WW relics like buttons , badges ... Unfortunately there is a lot of 1st WW artillery rubbish like shell fragments which are tough to detect .. We arrived at around 3PM and we started detecting , me with my trusty Deus2 WS6 and my cousin with his Deus1 WS5. As there were woodcutters working we could not go where we initially planned and had to go to a less interesting area a little away from the camps . This is probably why we found almost nothing during the 1st hour except these bloody shell fragments 🤢 . Just to explain , at the end of 1918 the Germans were running short of steel and their shells were made from an "ersatz" material made of a mix of zinc and other crap metals . The pb is that these fragments are conductive and there are plenty of them , small and big ones , and no other choice than digging them as they sound as good targets ... After one hour and half I was a little disappointed and I was going to have a rest when I heard a very clean high tone signal . I dug it , I saw a big rectangular shape and I immediately recognized a German belt buckle ,awesome .. 👌🤩 🙃 😺... Wow I havent found one since 2 or 3 years , and this one is very nice ... My cousin is a 1st WW specialist and identifies it as a Prussian mod 1847 belt buckle , probably been lost by a German soldier in 1918 . Buckles are quite rare and usually we have to find many buttons before finding a buckle . But for some reason , today we only found this splendid buckle and nothing else .. My D2 settings are still the same btw ; SENSITIVE nr 2 mode , 5 tones , SQUARE It was a sunny day at a very nice place , we will be back ... 🙂 The area , a little forest near a small town, my cousin in the path with his Deus1 : Me and my buckle : Prussian mod 1847 belt buckle : After a little cleaning : Back to my cousin's car : Landscape view , the forest on the left : German "ersatz" shell fragments . There are plenty of them in the area , no other choice than digging them ...
  20. I like the rectangular telescopic shaft , the stems dont rotate when you adjust them , I wonder why ML has not used this design for the MCore or Equinox 700/900 btw ...
  21. Very good choice cliff490 you cant go wrong with the D2 which is an excellent detector ... I would just suggest to start with the mode nr1 GENERAL which is dedicated to new D2 users . Spend 10 or 15 hours with the GENERAL factory settings ( PWM audio ), then try the SQUARE audio that you may prefer to PWM because it is closer to the MLs audio . When you are ok with GENERAL you might change for nr2 SENSITIVE which is more reactive and faster in iron trashed areas . Of course there are other modes/settings to try when you are more experienced with the detector ... Hope that helps ..
  22. I would have preferred more detectors audio and less operators discussions or comments . We almost never hear the detector in the field test video ... 🤢 Why dont they focus on the detector rather than on the operators ? ... At least we can see its color lol ... This is often the pb with detecting vids btw ...
  23. I detect in France where some areas are probably more iron trashed than in the US . Looking to the pic above I see nails , you should never detect nails with the D2 using the factory modes ( except the All metal modes of course like RELIC or GOLD ) , then I suppose that you use a wrong setting or the machine is faulty . Which D2 mode are you using ?
  24. Actually I just need a good audio and I dont need VDIs , as we have for example coins ranging from 0,5 to 10g over here , then almost all conductivities even low ones can be good targets ... VDIs are not as important here in Europe as they are in the US
