  1. Yes but in case of a detector failure I wonder how it will go , my seller is not very positive about the Quest after service . On the other hand I have never had a pb with either the X5 or the Q30+ , they are very well designed and reliable . This will probably be the same with the new V60/V80 ...
  2. The after service and accessories availaibility is currently a downside of the Quest brand, even in Europe . For example I wanted to buy a 9X5 coil for my Q30+ . I never succeeded , the coil is not available in France , and not even in the Netherlands . I hope it will improve with the new V60/V80 models ...
  3. At least they have a beautiful web page for their new machine ... : Quest |V serious metal detector for the pro (questmetaldetectors.com
  4. I have tested the X5 and Q30+ . The X5 is the perfect machine for a beginner , I like this detector . The Q30+ is more sophisticated with wireless headphones . Both detectors are fast and reactive , easy to use , Quest knows how to make detectors ... Curious to see their new models . They will have to be very performing because of the competition , ML , XP , Nokta etc...
  5. The Profind35 has a bad reputation even over here in France ... My dealer told me that it is rubbish and doesnt want to sell them anymore . For some reason I have never had any issue with mine , may be I am lucky ... πŸ™‚ Now I use a Quest Xpointer Max , for me the best pinpointer I have ever used . Lithium embedded battery, iron disc , small digital display . Very reliable and compact . However I have never tested it with a Mcore .
  6. I would try with a detector designed for high iron trashed areas , a Teknetics , Tesoro , Deus1 or 2 for example . Personally I dont put up with the chatty MLs ( Equinox , Vanquish etc .. ) in the irons and especially these high tones "signals" which sound like good targets and disappear with the next coil sweepings that we clearly hear in your video ... Horrible ... πŸ™‚
  7. Yes but with a Deus ( 1 or 2 ) , the machine is already excellent in the irons using the default modes , this without having to change any setting and to spend hours to find the best settings . Going a little off topic as it is not a Detector comparison thread but I could not resist to react to this ... Just my two cents too ... πŸ™‚
  8. A little late on this thread but personally I would buy the 11 coil because it is 100g lighter than the 13 X 11 and 100g less at the shaft end makes a big difference for me ... Coils and Coil covers | XP METAL DETECTORS
  9. Nice pics thx. It recalls me the 1990s when I went several times for windsurfing at Tarifa ... Very nice area ...
  10. Over here in France the soil is low or moderately mineralized, ground balancing doesnt change anything the detectors are already stable with their default fixed GB setting . I have done bed tests ( moderately mineralized soil) comparing the depth and stability without GB and with GB . There is definitely a slight improvement when doing the GB but I prefer to save time in the field and the default fixed GB setting works very well for me for me at least for XP ( D1 and D2 ) or ML ( Equinox 800 ) ..
  11. The same over here , there is ony one MD magazine remaining in France . Two others have ceased publication during the past year ..
  12. Just for info , a silver dollar is accepted by the 705 , but several silver dollars are rejected because they fall in the 48 notch ... 🀒 I accidentally discovered this after a few months of use with my Xterra 705 ... Of course I have modified the preset to accept this 48 notch , so that it would accept a potential hoard or a coin spill . I did not find any hoard despite the modif but this is an other story ... πŸ™‚
  13. Personally I know within a few hours ( 10-15 hours ) if a detector is for me or not . This is what happened with the D2 last year when I tested it in March , I very quickly knew that it was a machine for me . Probably my long experience with detectors helps though ...
  14. The D2 menu design is a little tricky but as I have found the right settings for me ( SENSITIVE + SQUARE ) and I wont change them during the next 10 years , it is not a pb for me ... πŸ™‚ Btw the D2 is a piece of cake compared to my Sony A6000 camera ergonomy lol ... πŸ™‚
  15. Yes as Steve said , a detector audio is a very individual thing . Even for the D2's users where some prefer the PITCH audio , others PWM , and others SQUARE ... The good thing is to be able to choose what you like ... I'll shut up too now πŸ™‚ ..
  16. From my standpoint I just use what works the best for me . It has very little importance for me wether the detector is a local brand or not . My first detector was a Tesoro Silver Sabre made in the US and I have been happy with it during several years . Then I changed for a Minelab Explorer ( made in Australia ) . I discovered XP while talking with very experienced guys in a MD shop in Paris in 2007 . These guys were detecting since the 80s and for some reason they were all using the same detector , the XP Goldmaxx . So I decided to buy one and give it a try ... I quickly understood why they were using this detector , it was simply better than the others in our local conditions . And I am still with XP 15 years later with the D1/D2 because they perfectly fit my needs Btw I have A Toyota Yaris which is a Japan brand ( made in France ) , I use Windows 10 and 11 which are incredibly excellent softwares made in the US . My computer is a Dell XPS using an Intel processor, both are designed in the US . I use a Sony A6000 camera made in Japan . A Samsung TV designed in Corea . A Garmin Oregon 600 made in the US . A Flir PS23 made in the US . A Quest Xpointer Max made in China . Etc ... Eventually only my Deus1 and 2 are French LOL ... πŸ™‚
  17. If the XPs tones sucks , how do you explain the thousands of XPs ( Deus1 and now Deus2 ) sold and used in Europe , where the soils are probably much more trashy ( I mean iron trash ) , then more noisy than in the US ? If the MLs had a better audio than the XPs , they will the standard in Europe . They are not ,and very few people use them for inland coin-relic hunting at least in France , this is just a fact ... It will be interesting to see if the new MLs 900 and Mcore change this situation . I am looking fwd to test one or both of them btw , I will quickly see if improvements have been done ( or not ) vs the 800 concerning the audio in iron trashed areas ..
  18. You will probably see that when you have used a Deus( 1 or 2 ) for some time and you are happy with it , it is very difficult to come back to an other brand ... At least for detector lightness reasons , but for separation in the irons and reactivity on targets too . I mean for coin-relic inland hunting . For beach huting it is different , it looks like the MLs are still the kings of the beach in the world , this even in France ... πŸ™‚
  19. 100 acres = 50 hectares = approx 1000m X 500 m ; then it is going to take a few weeks ( months ? πŸ™‚ ) to pound this field ... Looking fwd to your next reports . Btw it is quite frequent to find 17th century coins over here in France , but I imagine that in the US it is an other story ...
  20. Very good detector statistical ( and mathematical ) comparison : 2 outings in the same area , then comparing the finds/time at the end . This is the method that I prefer to compare detectors . Just the finds and nothing else ... A little summary from your posts and pics if you dont mind : - Eq 900 , 4 hours : 23 coins , 2 rings , 6 pulltabs - Deus2 , 2 hours : 20 coins , 2 rings , 6 pulltabs Which means a coin every 6mn for the D2 , and every 10mn for the Eq. I am not really surprised by this , during my own comparison testings ( inland testing on a plowed field with a D1 and an Eq 800 ) I found the same ratio , twice more finds with the D1 than the 800 ( inland testing on a plowed field ) ... Now why such a difference ? Probably because your beach is infested with irons and the Deus has excellent separation and reactivity on targets .. Just my opinion ... Best Wishes for the New Year btw ... πŸ™‚
  21. Hi , please could you post a picture ? thx
  22. The center of gravity of a S rod is located a little upper than on a straight rod , then closer to the users's arm axis . Then a S rod reduces the pendulum effect ( less weight under the handle ) during the detector motion. Long story short a S rod is a little more stable in the hand and more cumfortable to use . This is why a lot of detectors use S rods I think . On the other hand S rods are more complex to design-manufacture , because of the more complex shape of the S handle . Steveg will probably confirm ... πŸ™‚ On the other hand a Deus with a very light coil like the 9" FMF ( 330g ) is so light that the difference between a S rod and a straight rod is imperceptible to my opinion . Personally I use a straight shaft coming from a Quest Q30 , and will probably order Steveg's carbon shaft as it is lighter than mine ..
  23. A more robust WS6 with a backlight ( yea I know I am going off the soft update topic .. ). A simpler WS6 menu ergonomy which it is sometimes tricky for me Like F350platinium I am very happy with the current version ( I always use the SENSITIVE mode ) , and I hope they wont do major changes , at least for this mode ... πŸ™‚
