  1. I use rechargable nimh and the battery meter on the detector starts at 50% I am assuming this is because rechargable batteries have a lower starting voltage of 1.2. I have not timed the life but I have gone entire days detecting without running into problems.
  2. ๐Ÿ‘that's a quality post there. Thanks for sharing the videos. They really highlights the gulf between the manufacturing facilities.
  3. Any word on when this detector is actually going to be available for purchase?
  4. Those wands are used everywhere here for large and medium sized events as well.
  5. The carpet has lower mineralization so I went with the Concentric ๐Ÿ˜…
  6. I was too excited to wait for a sub 110 degree so I tested out my new GMX in the shag carpet in my office. I did pretty well. I had about twice as much change there but one of my daughters spotted it and made off with it. I think I may need to take this rug outside and shake it out. Who knows what else is in there....
  7. This is just a fun comparison because there is no way I'm going to buy another detector at this point but near me I see a good looking used DFX for the price of $250. That is so similar in price to the Simplex that I am interested in which would be considered the superior detector or at least how they stack up. From what I know they are both considered coin and relic detectors, the DFX is multi-frequency, and the Simplex is considered to have many of the newest features at a low price point.
  8. Well I bought the detector and I am gonna give it a try this weekend. It looks really good and seems to function properly. Also I was able to register it on the website for a warranty. I do not know what type of automated checking they do on that but so far so good.
  9. Now I know why I couldn't find a simple used detector when I first started looking!
  10. Would the unit lock up permanently or after enough resets it would operate again?
  11. I've read a lot of those thread but never can quite get a clear picture of voltage an original TDI pulse scan can handle.
  12. I am considering buying a second hand GMX but the situation with counterfeits has me worried. Are there any tips with regards to White's detectors to ensure I am getting the real deal?
  13. I have a 2009 TDI I can look at if you would like something answered. I am a novice though so I would not know what to look for on my own.
  14. Damn I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one performs.
  15. Thank you for all the well thought out responses. I especially appreciate the response from phrunt. That is the type of comparison I was looking for. I also found some youtube videos by Bill Southern where he takes the equinox prospecting.
  16. Thanks for the info. Nice to know we will have an option if needed.
  17. This is quite sad. I am new to detecting but really appreciate products made here in the US. I was on the fence about what detector to buy next between the 24k and the Equinox800 but I guess my decision had been made for me...
  18. Sorry if this topic has been covered before but I'm having trouble with the search function on mobile. I am considering purchasing a second detector to go along with my White's TDI. Here in AZ I am primarily interested in gold prospecting but I am "detecting curious" when it comes to finding other objects. I'm looking for a ballpark estimate on how effective (80%-90%) the equinox 800 is compared to a dedicated gold machine like the gold master 24k or the gold monster. Hopefully someone who has owned both types of machine can reply. To sum up: I own a TDI and would like to increase my prospecting capabilities. How much would I be missing out on by going with the Equinox over other gold machines?
  19. Congrats on the purchase. I wish I could find some nice deals like that here in AZ!
  20. The TDI sl intro video on that thread had some great info!
  21. That's interesting. I email the address on the sticker and he claims to have never made a coil like the one pictured. Sounds like he forgot. With so many coil options on that list one has to match.
  22. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203013904529 It does say for the TDI but that's about it.
  23. There is a listing on ebay for this coil and I am wondering if it looks like a genuine coil or some type of knockoff.
  24. I am more interested in how you feel about he mods you have done. I have read several of the threads regarding the various options.
