  1. Well that is 5 more to the tally. Whether you could have maxed out your other set up with a recover rate of 1 with a negative disc setting who knows. You found them and that is what counts!!
  2. I wish you well. Keep us posted. The equinox and the XP units are very popular. I see a lot of people with that combo too. I too had that same combo...mine was the 600. I stuck with XP as I do not do any beach hunting. I like the large screen of the equinox too. Very nice. I prefer the speed of the XP units compared to the equinox. I also find them easier to adjust. Good luck
  3. I am late to the game here for sure. I too agree with the OP on needing some other options for gold fields or high mineralized ground conditions and deciding to get away from a deus only to come back to XP again. I did the same a little while back or so with my XP units. I went for the big screens of the Nokta Makro for a while. And a few others mixed in as well. Not because I was bored with XP but just to wet my feet again on some other nice units. And as nice and robust as the Makro units are, especially with their large displays and build quality, they are lacking in several areas compared to the XP units. One is the recovery speed in trashy areas and the other is the light weight of the XP units compared to everything else on the market just to name a couple. Also I find the XP controls and adjustments to be more user friendly too. Some may argue with that. On the Minelabs EQ machines, to me the ergonomics of that particular unit is one of the most comfortable machine on the market to hold and swing. But no where near as light weight of the XP units. The XP units are deeper in my soil as well. I have noticed the guys who are in higher mineralized ground do suffer with the lack of the multi freq option in XP units but until I get in a part off the country that has high mineralized ground conditions, the XP units are the best ever made metal detector in my opinion. I have purchased an ORX back from a friend who bought it from me and now am looking at the Deus again as well. I do not need the deus. The ORX is every bit as deep and as fast as the Deus. I just like options and am leaning toward another deus. How many other units out there can you practically carry in your pocket for a back up??😄
  4. Someone could have at least bought the brand and kept it going. Look at Fisher,,,,,,,,hardly any of the originals are still in production. Maybe the gold bug 2 and the CZ21.......CZ3d if it is still around. But the rest had a "Face Lift" of sorts and were completely new models while the 1225 and 1236 types first TX let them die off.
  5. What coil are you using?? Ok so the 3 tone is supposed to be faster in trash,,,,,,,,,but with an 11" coil shouldn't it still hit a dime at 7" without issue? especially without having to crank the gain up above 90 for correct ID? See that is the part that was a little disappointing upon first test with this set up with the 11 inch coil and 3 tone which is what I normally would have searched in under normal conditions.
  6. It is a shame. Sounds like they are trying to sell off everything to pay off something or get out of debt who knows. It would have been way better if they sold their company to a competitor instead of just jumping ship.
  7. I agree with the above and that is how I came to my conclusions. I would have never have known the 3 tone delima if I did not have a test garden.
  8. I have not used the snowshoe style stock coil much.......I put the 9.5x5 coil on for the past couple of outings. X5 So I am gonna just avoid 3 tone myself probably from now on for areas that had potential deep good targets. However for normal park hunting and around old houses and all I am sure 3 tone is good I have noticed that above 90 on sensitivity it does tend to do something to the circuit that allows for better ID on deeper coins. But this other stuff about 3 tone and 89 sensitivity being able to pick stuff out better as far as I am concerned is just a total waste of effort in my ground. It may work in other parts of the USA but not here where I live.
  9. Received my AF28 coil in and put it on my kruzer. I started out in 3 tone because that is what I would have normally ran anyway but, that was before I tried it out. No more 3 tone for me. I have the Fe tone set at 2 and sensitivity set to 85 and in the standard 15khz freq for starters. Separation is very good with this machine with set up of the settings with this coil. I am very satisfied with it. It has about the same ability to separate as the smaller 9.5x5 DD coil. Very impressed. But moving on with the 11 inch coil, I discovered a quirk when running the coil over a the 7 inch dime and 11 inch nickel while in 3 tone. The machine did not want to hit on the deeper coins. It would try to null out. I cranked the sensitivity up to about 93 and although it would respond to something being in the hole, the ID for both coins were off. I was starting to get disappointed. I then swapped freq to 5 and then to 19 as well and was getting similar results. So I tried it in 2 tone and whammo....it nailed the deeper coins in all 3 frequencies with the sensitivity turned way down as well. Then I tried 4 tone and the same thing happened. The machine responded very well with the deep coins too. Very happy now. But I can see if someone got this coil and tried to test it just in 3 tones how someone could get discouraged with the set up. I have read a lot about 3 tone with the multi kruzer and leaving the sensitivity down below 90 because it you are supposed to be able to get more target information and signal analysis while the Kruzer is in 3 tone. I found that advice to be total bull$hix. anyways, if you want more depth with a kruzer with the 11 inch coil with multi tones your gonna have to run in 2 tone or 4 tone because 3 tone is not going to cut it. 10. well it does not look like they are going anywhere anytime soon. They just posted on their face book page the new Andy Sabish Nokta Simplex hot to book. Which I think is a little extreme but what do I know. I do not necessarily think it would be a problem with Nokta as a company whole but maybe the one who is over the repair center here. Some times electronics act weird on one machine and work perfect on another.
  11. What has nokta done recently....I am not clear on the matter with your disappointment in them.
  12. Well there is a thing as bad coils. I have one coming this saturday but it would be a couple of days before I could give you any test results on performance. I am very please with the Kruzer so far. I saw on youtube a fellow say that the 11 anfibio coil put on the Kruzer was a deeper combo than the anfibio with the 11 coil on it. Has anyone heard this? I no longer have an anfibio. The anfibio is a great unit but the shaft is just way too heavy. I love the weight of the kruzer and it has enough settings to keep me happy. I have the 9.5x5 elliptical on the Kruzer currently. Man is it a great combo for getting around tight spaces. About the best size I have ever had for that.
  13. Interesting....I have not saw anything like that. I do know that the covid b.s. has caused a lot of stuff being imported in to the country is taking longer due to that. What was the coil doing that was so bad??
  14. I appreciate all of the tips and advice but this machine is just way too slow. And people out there think a Deus is hard to set up.....those same folks need to get one of these. I took another 2 hours yesterday changing settings and adjusting settings and going over targets next to trash trying to pick out good targets next to iron. I am afraid the processor is just way too slow for the task. In hunt relics this time of year and the ability to pick out a button or bullet next to a piece of iron is very important. It will hardly bleep on a wheat penny next to iron as well. I like a way faster responding unit. I am just not the kind if person that wants to squeeze every minute detail out of a targets conductivity by staring at the screen and watching how the target reacts with all of the adjustments that make it tick. If I was a park or soccer field detectorist looking for lost jewelry this would be a different story and I would be jumping up and down over this machine. I am afraid this puppy is going to go elsewhere. I do not have the patience for the V3i. I have come to realize that I can get way better performance out of the box with my little minelab equinox 600 without even adjusting any setting or controls on the equinox. Technology has come a long way.
  15. It looks like you know the V3i inside and out. I like how the mixed mode acts but I am going to have to tweak a lot of settings on it. Yes I have a pretty good test garden. That is what lead me to start asking questions on the V3i here on the forum. I could not get the V3i to hit a copper coin about 1-1/2" inches from a piece of iron in the ground with the D2 coil and the 6x10DD coil. But it will hit the coin next to iron with the 13" DD ultimate coil without much parameter adjusting. I wanted it to be as fast on recovery speed as the MXT is however I do not think it will be possible. I do have it way faster than the stock programs is though.
  16. What I have noticed is the programming throughout the different programs are different internally. It does not seem to carry the same parameters across the board. There are many more choices in mixed mode pro to adjust than in coin mode. I found that out today. So it looks like the ultimate find everything mode is mixed mode pro I think it is called.
  17. I think maybe I am enjoying the challenge possibly. I kind Of want to keep the V3i. . Your correct about the mxt pro just being a workhorse with the best and easiest set up there is from the whites line up. Not to mention battery life compared to the V3i. No comparison whatsoever.
  18. Thank you. Yes the 13 inch coil is good on depth. I am still trying to get the recovery speed up to par. Am trying to like the unit. It is a nice and pretty one. Maybe if I forced myself to only use the v3i I would not ask so many questions !
  19. I have the eq600 and am a die hard fan of the ORX. I cannot speak much on gold prospecting but I can in everything else. Water beaches hunting get the equinox. For primarily a land machine go for the ORX. If you can save and get both it would be a great combo. If you decide on a vanquish I think you would be pleased with the simplicity B's the performance it gives. Makro and Nokta make the most robust units ever in my opinion. The perfect machine would be one that was as tough as a nokta/makro, water proof, multiple frequency with 30 selectable single frequencies with the recovery speed of the XP units.
  20. Have recently got a hold of a nice V3i......I had one about 8 years ago and I decided back then it was not for me. I have Been comparing a MXT pro to it. Straight out of the box the MXT is way faster on recovery and obviously way easier to set up. With the 6X10 DD coil the V3i cannot see a penny about 1-1/2 inches from a piece of iron. If I put the same coil on the MXT it picks it right up. Very well actually. I have fiddled with the V3i on and off for a couple of days. I am on the fence about hanging on to it. I have been talking to a friend here locally who swears by the V3i and it is his go to machine. He told me that once I get it figured out it is deeper than the MXT. I guess that is possible. I am not a fan of the D2 coil as much as the white 6X10 DD coil. With the white 6X10 DD coil on the mxt I can hit an 11 inch nickle in my test garden with just turning the gain up. With the same coil on the V3i I have to go and adjust the ground phase and the recovery settings plus SAT as well....Sorry I do not know what all they are called but it used to be pre and post gain or AC and DC or whatever was on the XLT and such. Plus there is also the transmit gain and all that too that I can adjust and I am trying to just hit a 11 inch nickel with the V3I!!! I have messed with the recovery speed and the internal filters and have managed to get pretty satisfactory results after lots of hair pulling and time out in my back yard. I paired up the 13" DD Coil to the V3i. It made the machine way more sensitive without hardly doing anything else to the settings. It is like a match made in heaven actually on the V3i. I normally am a turn on and go kind of guy. I guess once the V3i is set up the way I like to run a machine it would become a turn on and go unit.....It will just take a bit to get there. I am on the fence kind of. I know there seems to be a little more action here with a few of you who still use a V3i so I am going to ask, is there any way the V3i can be adjusted to be as deep and as fast as the MXT pro?? If not I may just wind up selling both and sticking to lighter machines....... Had a blast with my Equinox yesterday!!
  21. Your not hijacking anything. We are all here to learn....well at least try to anyway. Great post!!
  22. Thanks Steve ......now we are cooking with fire. I got it just about as fast as an mxt for recovery. I have not fiddled much with the expert stuff on this one It is a different world.
  23. So if a man wanted to have a faster recovery speed on a V3i in coin & jewelry mode for a trashy area how would one go about that??
  24. Hey Phrunt, I saw a show last night about New Zealand. I was totally shocked at how much it is like the USA actually as far as terrain goes. Also the gold fields and terrain are very similar to the how it is out west here in the states. There was an area that looked a lot like Scotland too. It was very interesting I must say.
