  1. So sorry about your '63 Springfield. I went to Gettysburg with my parents when I was about 10 and always wanted to go back. We spent three days there and it is a very somber place. You can feel more than history there, it's extremely moving. Manassas, or Bull Run, had a very similar feel.
  2. No it's not. It's just Gary doing his thing with the D2, 11" coil, and Sensitive Full Tones. Man, that sure sounds sweet!
  3. Well outa likes again, but you're absolutely right NCt. I will end up getting a larger coil to have for the stable but will use the 9" primarily because it works great for my hunting sites. The only reason I want that 9.5x5" is to get into tight crevices and in between dense foliage like trees, cacti, bushes, etc, that the 9" round can't get into, and to not have to change to another detector to do it. Call me lazy, but just I want to detect with my D2, and if that's wrong, I don't want to be right. 🤣
  4. Ground balancing is always a good idea. Mineralization affects machine response and mineralization of soil is not usually uniform, but varies, sometimes greatly, across an area of ground. It's probably more uniform in farm feeds as a result of fertilization. I don't have many minnie balls where I hunt, but they are made of lead and can vary in shape quite a bit, specially fired ones. So the shape and irregular surface will affect the way it sounds off in different directions. HTH
  5. Well, that's a lot, lol! First, have you made any changes to the machine since you started the site, changes in coils, software updates, program tweeks, etc? Is eveything fully charged? That sound dumb, but low voltage can make electronics do some strange things. Have you tried doing some air tests or even test garden tests off of the site? That would help eliminate or expose machine problems. There is some discussion of the D2 affected by silent EMI which can come or go depending on the source. Maybe do a frequency scan or manually change the frequency at the site. Also try single frequency mode between 10kHz-17kHz and see if anything improves. These are just some ideas to try. I'm no expert, but when things change drastically at a site you are hitting over and over, look for the possible source of the change. It could be the equipment, the settings, the environment, or it could just be cleaned out. Hope that helps.
  6. Wow, that place looks awesome and a little overwhelming! Well done again picking out the good stuff. I don't think it matters that it was hunted before. There's always something left. It just takes a little research, dedication, persistence, skill, and luck to pull the things others missed and you tick all those boxes, well done! You know, if you get overwhelmed by the sheer size of all your permissions, maybe you could host the first annual F350 Platinum Invitational Hunt for the Detector Prospector Forum. 😉
  7. No way, man, I enjoy everything you post! I get to see history and places I seldom get to. My wife and I did a trip to Philly, Gettysburg, Manassas, and DC a few years before I got bit by the detector bug. It's probably a good thing I wasn't into detecting then because I'd still be rotting in jail for whipping out a detector on Little Roundtop. 🤣
  8. Now I'm rethinking this whole thing. I mainly just want another coil to make a WS Master rig and to also have as a backup. I got the 9" with the D2 almost a year ago and haven't really needed a larger coil. I had the 6", 11", and 12x15" with my previous detector and 98% of the time I just used the 11", until the 10x5" came out, then I just used the 10X5" and never used anything else. I originally got the 12x15" coil for large sports fields and the few times we went to the beach on vacation, but in both types of locations, I remember I ditched the 12x15" and just went with the 11" and 10x5" to save weight, which at my age is preferable to gaining an inch or two coverage per swing. I realize the D2 and D2 coils are much lighter, but let's look at the breakdown: 9" coil = 345g (12.17oz) 11" coil = 470g (16.57oz) 11x13" coil = 570g (20.11oz) 9.5x5" coil (if it existed) = 300g (10.58oz) To go from the 9" to 11" coil adds 125g (4.4oz), but to go from the 9" to 11x13" coil adds 225g (7.95oz). I can handle lifting a quarter pound. I do it at McDonalds all the time. But adding a half pound is something I'll have to think more about. Now if the imaginary 9.5x5" coil weighed 300g (10.58oz), then that would knock off 45g (1.59oz)! So add 1/4 pound or 1/2 pound or lose a couple of ounces... I think I see which would be the best way to go. 😏
  9. MG is good stuff. I use the 419E Acrylic Conformal Coating Aerosol Spray to waterproof circuit boards with great results. Use it in a well ventilated area and wear a mask, it fairly toxic to breath in. https://www.amazon.com/419E-Premium-Acrylic-Conformal-Recognized/dp/B07TXWN3V6/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1J3ZUSR84LFCN&keywords=mg+chemical+acrylic+coating&qid=1675115242&sprefix=mg%20chemical%20acrylic%20coating%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-2
  10. Hello vincente, I understand that you want to see current conditions of your fields so you can decide which would be best for hunting on a certain day. Unfortunately, I don't know of a website that has that recent satellite maps. I generally just use sites like Google Earth to look at satellite images for research, but even those can be a few years old. Maybe someone else knows of newer satellite data that we can access.
  11. Hey guys, this is not my program so I can't share it, but you can contact @F350Platinum , he is the creator of the Relic Reaper program and a super nice guy. He can tell you all about it.
  12. Yeah, that probably is a pot pipe, because that's one thing we have plenty of in Colorado. The bulb shaped thing is a butane lighter for pipes which kind of goes with the theme there. 🤣 I will say that I'm not done with your Reaper program. I ran it stock but with the Big Numbers screen instead of the XY screen. I intend to experiment much more with it as I can see the potential there. It did well in mineralized soil and it was easy to tell iron from non-ferrous. I didn't mind the louder response on shallow items as I had my volume reduced a bit. It just surprised me a few times when listening for deep targets and swinging over some shallow trash. It reported depth well even on large objects so I think this is going to be very useful. I thank you for sharing it with me! I also think it would be very popular with detectorists overseas in those European fields. 😎
  13. That's a good point F350 and brys, while it would be so cool to find a civil war canonball, it wouldn't be worth getting maimed or die from it.
  14. Wow, that's awesome! Congrats on the SLQ!!! That's a great day for sure, well done!
  15. That is so cool! Great finds and the history is the icing on the cake, well done!
  16. Silver and Wheaties is a good day, Well done! Like every detector, it takes some time to get it down, but it looks like you're well on the way with your new M-Core.
  17. Wow, that's a heap of coins and copper and silver is always good to find. That grassy field might be hinding some deeper silver the others missed. Well done!
  18. Congrats, kac, that's awesome! One of the cool perks of detecting is finding things you thought were mundane (IHPs are not mundane to me 😉) but turn out to be something much better. Always check those finds. Well done!
  19. @F350Platinum has been showing how well his Relic Reaper program works on his permission fields, so I thought I'd take it for a spin. Even though I know my ground is much more mineralized, I was curious to see how it would perform in my iron-dirty ground and it's good to try new things every now and then. This program goes deep but it's unlike anything I've used on the D2 before. More on that in a bit. Everything in my city is frozen solid, so the D2 Crew wanted to head south to look for unfrozen ground. The closest likely target was the old train depot location about an hour away. The weather window was suposed to be 42°F for the day before the next snowfall came in, so off we went. When we arrived, we couldn't help but notice somebody had parked a rather large train across the road into the depot area effectively blocking us from getting in. The engines were running so we figured the train would be pulling out at anytime and we puttered around the area detecting for a bit. Unfortunately the ground was very hard-packed except for one large pile of dirt and trash nearby. I switched to the Relic Reaper to see what it was like and it was very different. F350 has offered to give the settings if you're interested, but you'll have to contact him since it's his baby. Nothing good was coming out of the trash pile, so we detected around the road and parking area while we continued to wait for the train to move. After about an hour, it became apparent the train was going nowhere fast, so one of the crew suggested we go check out an old homesite further south. While the crew was loading up, I took my sweet time detecting the road back to the trucks and was finding fairly shallow coins in the road when one of the guys shouts, "Come on, lets go!" I said okay and immediately hit a nice solid 92 in the road. The road was like concrete but, I'm not leaving any 90s behind so I carefully chipped a dime free from the rocky hard-pack, threw it in the pouch, and loaded up. We arrived at the old home site which was across a river from a huge retired train station. There was a large home there at one time but it was razed long ago and is now a dump site for gravel, garbage, and a part time homeless camp. I switched on the Relic Reaper to see if I could poke through the layers of trash and time. I will say that the program didn't seem to have any problems in the hot ground. It will take some time to get used to the very different sounds, but I see the potential there. It hits deep and is very descriptive in the sounds. Iron sounds like iron and non-ferrous targets chirp through. Large items and shallow items blast off so I had to adjust a bit for that. I also cross checked all targets with my modified Silver Slayer, Deep HC, and Relic programs. They all hit the same targets and displayed the same numbers, so I didn't miss anything and I didn't dig a lot of trash. I will definitely give the Relic Reaper more trigger time to fully see what it can do. Well done, F350, this is some out of the box thinking that could be very useful. Thanks for letting me try your program! We only had a few hours at the home site and the weather changed to freezing pretty fast. I did manage to score a 1928 Wheat cent and an old pocket watch. I also found a crack pipe, so there's that. But the best find was when I got home and started going through the clad and found that that last dime I picked out of the road before we left for the home site was a 1951 silver Roosevelt Dime! That just put a big ol' smile on my face! Thanks for reading. BTW, if you are interested in the Relic Reaper program, please contact @F350Platinum, the creator of the program. He can tell you more about it than I can.
  20. They are available from some UK dealers. Here's one: https://spinadiscmetaldetectors.com/products/searcher-xp-deus-ws4-ws6-headphone-covers
  21. If you can use the XLT, you will have no trouble with the Deus 2. I got a used XLT years ago when I thought about getting into detecting and couldn't make heads or tails out of it so I gave it to my son because I didn't know what I was doing and didn't take the time to learn it. Now that I have the D2, I love it, and it has made me want to learn more about it and detecting in general. With your experience on the XLT you already have a leg up and will be really happy with the D2 in my opinion.
  22. Dang, your killing it out in the monster field, well done again! If it gets to be too much to walk all that, just strap all your detectors hanging off the front, sides, and back of your golf cart and sweep that field clean in a day! 😉
  23. I have had a few copper Memorial pennies pop up to 92, but I investigate any numbers that sound good and as a rule all 90s come out of the ground. 😏
