  1. Beautiful country and a spectacular buckle, thanks for sharing, well done!
  2. The graphite infused paint blocks EMI. Similar treatments are used in electronic enclosures to block outside EMI and block EMI emission from the internal electronics. In this application it should cut down on interference from salt water wave wash over the top of the coil's graphite painted surfaces by restricting the coil's electromagnetic field radiated on the top of the coil and possibly focusing it more downward, which may or may not increase the downward depth of the overall radiated field. I'm sure some of the electrical engineers are going to chime in here. Of couse the center of the coil where the transmit and receive wires cross is the most sensitive area and you might want to graphite paint that area for maximum effect. So while it seems like an effective remedy for salt water wave wash, I can't help but wonder why coil manufacturers have not put EMI shielding in the top of all coil housings. But if it's working for you more power to you... literally. 😉
  3. Nailing those relic buttons again, congrats! Your Reaper program is knocking it out for you! I can't use it in town right now because it goes way below the frozen ground and I can't get to the targets it hits. 😁 I played with it on a ghost town site a few days ago. I'm still tweaking it to for my area but it does go deep. I'm trying to keep notes so I can give you a more detailed report after a few more trips to unfrozen ground. 😏
  4. Excellent job sniffing out the goods again, F350! That giant thimble is georgious and congrats on getting all 3 pieces of the shoe buckle. Nice haul of button too, congrats! The Alaska spoon is a bit of a mystery. The only thing I could find, besides comemorative spoons, was a post on TreasureNet from 2012 from a guy who found a table spoon with Alaska on the back. He didn't post a photo of his but posted a photo of 3 dinner spoons that has Alaska embossed on the back where the makers mark usually is. Well done again!
  5. That's awesome, NCt! Seated silver, coppers, wheaties, and a token, Well done indeed, congrats!
  6. The ORX is currently $599, and in case you didn't know, the Deus II Master setup is $799.
  7. Everything you need is in the previous responses. I came from the same boat and have been using the Nox 800 since I got back into detecting a few years ago and love it. In a lot of ways, the Nox prepared me for the next step, which was the D2, and it is a step up. It is way more configurable, so as stated before, keep it simple to start and go with the General program (or one of the Beach programs if you're on the beach) and get out with it as much as you can. You will soon get comfortable with the menu system and really don't need to make too many changes getting started. Just get use to the sound and the feel. This machine has a lot to tell you. Don't fall into the "try my settings trap". It pays to wait on that until you have a good understanding for what each setting change does and how it affects other settings. Coming from the Nox, it is a bit of a change, but it won't take much time to get use to the D2. The more you use it, the more you will learn it and get comfortable with it. I've had my D2 for about 9 months now and it still teaches me something new everytime I go out with it and I like that. I've resisted the occasional urges to go back to the comfy ol' Nox while I learn the D2 and it's really paying off and also making me a better detectorist in the process. I wish you all the best with your new Deus II.
  8. The Relic program also uses Conductive Soil Subtraction so it's works well on wet ground.
  9. Yes that was quite a surprise the first time I used PWM and pinpointed with the MI-6. I really like that.
  10. That's quite an interesting comparison between the Manticore and GPX. Congrats on the gold ring, well done!
  11. The snakes are probably following their food source. If you've found more than one, there's probably a small hole where mice get in and the snakes are tracking them. Find that hole and plug it. Put down mouse poision and that should also take care of the snakes. Hopefully that wasn't a breeding pair. 😱
  12. Judging from the look of the plane, ship, and car on the badge, I would say definitely 1940s and probably post WWII. After the end of the war, people began travelling much more and St. Christopher's medals and badges were very common among catholic families. I have one from the same period my grandmother gave me from their old car when I went off to college. That one is in great shape, excellent find, kac!
  13. Spot on Lodge Scent, I think you nailed it! I started with Pitch in Square tones because it sounds so good. Reminds me of my Nox. Problem is now everything in Pitch Square sounds good. When I switched over to PWM, I started paying closer attention and finds went up. Now I'm comfortable enough with the D2 that I'm trying many more programs and sounds and it is opening up my mind and my finds. 😎
  14. Beautiful 4 Reale!! I saw that on the Treasure Beaches report, dream find, well done!
  15. Well Merrill just gave the Youtubers the formula for viral videos. Just make extreme claims while providing anecdotal proof. I enjoy his videos and he is very humorous guy, but this is what got him his first viral video and all because he does not understand the difference between magnetic field transmission and radio frequency transmission. Minelab marketing, however, set themselves up for disputes by not providing clearer explanations for that claim. Mark Lawrie's inserted response video from the autumn press tour does clearly state that 50% power does not mean 50% more depth and that it can mean 2-3 cm depth increase depending on all the usual conditions, but Minelab has always been cagey with specific information most likely for business reasons. However, they should expect people to be curious about such a marketing claim without specific explanations attached.
  16. Gary uses PWM Full Tones, but it sounds sweeter than the V0.71 version in this video to me. I like the PWM Full Tones and have been using Pitch in PWM too and I'm beginning to hear the subtle differences. I still love Pitch in Square tones, but I think there are more clues in PWM, but I'm still learning.
  17. Well thanks for this thread guys, I obviously didn't have a clue and just learned something. 👍
  18. While I don't have a Manticore yet (and I may wait for the CTX4040 😉), I've been following the development and release closely. I'm thinking, as SteveH and others have surmised, that the Manticore was not intended as a gold machine, even though there is a gold mode, and that it was intended as a coin and jewelry machine to replace their aging silver slayer, the E-Trac. Again as SteveH has mentioned, the Equinox was a proof of concept release to test their Multi-IQ technology in coin, jewelry, relic, and native gold hunting and it passed with flying colors. Minelab then released their new gold seeking PI machine, so the next thing to replace was the coin hunter machine. And if Minelab logic follows, the replacement for the old Excaliber II should be next and then the replacement for the CTX3030. These are just some opinions, I could be wrong.
  19. Well done, kac! Even when you think something is trash, check it again, You just never know what it will turn out to be.
  20. My Colorado Rocky Mountain High dirt (sorry John Denver 😏) is usually 85-87. On a few sites it has hit 89. We consider our minerization pretty high (no pun intended 🤣). @Jeff McClendon can tell you much more about the geology of our region, but I just call it hot dirt. 😏
  21. Incredible finds, Chase! You guys are killing it those fields and proving that those who went before didn't get it all. Well done indeed!
