  1. What? Really? Try it? Expert says he does it? Nevermind ... haha Thanks Chase.
  2. There were supposed to be some big waves at the beach over the night but they didn't move much sand. I decided to modify my hunt to a repeat of 'fast and furious' and cover more ground as there isn't much and not even things deep. My 3rd target was the ring. It is a 4.75g homemade/handmade ring. The remainder of the items I found in dry sand.
  3. There is art and science or is it science and art? I don't know what comes first. Let's just say in this case the 'science' comes first. An instrument is made. It produces and receives signals. Some are single frequencies and some are a new signal called Multi-IQ. This technology is probably not random. When a detectorist (musician) uses this instrument he/she can test it in a very mechanical way and produce sounds or the detectorist can use it in an artful way and make good finds (music)! Make any musical instrument analogy you would like. In this case I would choose a violin. Master violin makers stand the test of time for hundreds of years. How well will the Nox fare in time? It sounds pretty good now in many detectorists hands. At least I am using what some of the best are using. This doesn't mean I can't use some other instruments also. I was making some music with other instruments before this one showed up. Mitchel
  4. Moving targets like moving dates are hard to hit. (We find non-moving targets that are hard to hit!) Sometimes you get the credit. Sometimes you get the blame. Sometimes you get lucky. Other times it just doesn't matter and this is one of those times. Mitchel
  5. When you are digging everything to see what a machine can do then you dig everything. After a period of time you decide not to dig such things and you setup the machine in a different way. The Nox is an international seller. Some English and Canadian coins I find here are definitely in my 'trash zone.' How can you not dig a bit of trash in the beginning?
  6. I used a 5000 on the beach in Southern California for almost 2 years before I got an SE Pro. The 5000 couldn't find small chains. I paid for it with gold I found in the desert. I paid for the SE Pro and CTX many times over from the beaches.
  7. Those smalls at the beach remind me of one night I had with the CTX and the 12" coil. I stopped using it after I got the 17 but I did use it then. The Nox get more of them than the CTX so far. Those pieces of jewelry and I've attacked the rake up piles once. I think I could find things in them now.
  8. My dealer Bill Southern said they would be available at the end of May or in June. Steve said ... well, I understood him to say ... call it June. I guess this means 'they are here when they are here and not a minute before!' But it could mean something else too.
  9. Ok, thanks ... I'd say when you send it there then they will probably replace as they did with the 7000s in the beginning. Mitchel
  10. You didn't need a special adapter to make the headphones work or were those headphones the ones that came with the 600? I'm going to be getting some that work with the WM08 soon. Mitchel PS I hang my processing stuff off the back of a baseball cap without attachments.
  11. What has been the experience here with noise cancelling phones? I had some hardwire ones I loved. I bought them originally for the plane and they had a battery power but I used them with great success on my GPX and SE Pro. Mitchel
  12. Norm, Did you post somewhere else the reason for having it repaired? Was it dropped or something? Mitchel
  13. dwg, This is a challenging site. It takes a lot of experience to tame a sensitive machine down. Steve suggested that people new to the Nox not take it out for a stroll in a nail bed. There is good reason for this but one of the reasons is to be able to hear the good sounds and control the coil around all the junk. It is there. Have you seen Steve's last couple of posts? He has 'notched out' or rejected everything in the low range. He has been using the Nox the longest on this forum by far so we should emulate his settings in trash. An observation I have is if you are looking for 'smooth and stable' in an area like where you were hunting you will have to go a few hundred feet away from the trash and set yourself up. Now return to the scene of the crime and find those noisy good targets. Mitchel
  14. As much as I liked these headphones in the beginning I have used them so much now that I have the 'peeling effect' with these also. What is the 'peeling effect?' It is when you are ready to take your headphones off and the pain of doing it makes you want to keep them on. You feel like you are peeling them off. Ouch! What can be worse is when you feel them start to hurt in the middle of a session and you begin to adjust them on your head. Nothing will make them comfortable again for long. I'll be searching for a larger, over the ear backup or replacement before I would buy another pair of these. Mitchel
  15. School, Well done. At first I thought you were describing a portion of a beach as a cellar hole and I had never heard that term. I found gold within my first couple of hunts at the beach also. It gets better if you have targets. Well done. Mitchel
  16. Wow! I am just about opposite you. Relic hunting has to have the most trash of all metal detecting. Beach trash can be seen with a CTX and you don't dig it. Most trash is seen with a Nox and you dig some of it. The two main culprits are caps and bobby pins. You get some lead and other stuff but you also get the good stuff. The best detectorists I know at the beach use PIs and they dig everything wet and dry but they know where to go and they would have it no other way because they go DEEP. Mitchel
  17. The only sighting of a 6” coil I am aware of is this Facebook video with a peek at the new 6” coil That equals 'nada tester' to me so we are now parsing slang. Still
  18. In a previous thread Steve said: Posted Saturday at 07:09 PM “Ha, ha, never hurts to fish for information Mitchel! The only sighting of a 6” coil I am aware of is this Facebook video with a peek at the new 6” coil near the end...“
  19. Steve has said 'nada' just a few days ago but things change ...
