  1. Please tell us more about what you have found and what you hope to find with your new detector. What were your other detectors? Mitchel
  2. I was out early this morning on a negative tide. I got started about 3:30 AM and ended about 7 AM. I was using my new metalless boots. The Equinox will not tolerate a boot with metal. I walked for about a mile before I found my first and only quarter. Someone had already been on one of my preferred beaches with a PI and they were leaving open holes everywhere. Whenever I see these guys I want to walk up to them and ask them what would happen if they stepped in any of the holes they left. They make no attempt to 'turtle' the hole so a jogger or old lady walker won't break something. When these guys try to be friendly I avoid them because I have gotten into shouting matches of this subject before. So please, if I can step in YOUR hole and feel a twinge of pain then I'm not your friend. This goes for the desert too. Anyway, I avoided this guy and got the hell back to a beach that had produced in the past but that was the way that I came. Just before I left to drive to another beach I observed a difference in the bottom. The other low (an ebb) had left a trough. The waves all night before had little energy and I figured I would hit this and end my hunt for the day. I crossed the point where I had gone right two hours before and I was now going left or south. About 100 yards in I got a little 9-10 signal in Beach 1 and I was surprised to have a 2.2 g/10k/nugget style ring. It proved to be a one off and when I finished that pattern I got out of the wet sand and used Park 1 on the dry sand until the end of my day. (Less than $1 in change.) It is always nice to see a full moon and get gold. Mitchel
  3. Norm, You have reminded us that sometimes you can't 'ground' your detector in the first swings. There is 'stuff' between the coil and the ground. Good looking nugget. Mitchel
  4. My comment about the photo was that it is probably 'shot after' he found all the nuggets of course and probably after turning it off and on a few times and it just happened to be in Field 1. The idea that he was using that to find them really didn't occur to me. That would be a great addition to the gold finding ability if he did. I'd leave JP's picture and add some of yours that you have.
  5. It is 'funny' that the nuggets on the screen above are on Field 1 for the picture! I gave a presentation at our gold club/beach club meeting about a month ago. It was just after I found the specimen with 2-5g of gold in it. In my presentation I showed people in a women's club with lighting how the 800 would hear gold on a hot rock or while holding nails or other trash. I waved a nugget and trash under the coil with sensitivity around 15. We had a microphone near the speaker so we even had more EMI in the room. Some of the hot rocks/nails over gold nuggets I have tested in the field and know the 800 'could' find a nugget of reasonably small size in mining trash and deteriorating buildings. To me this might be the greatest potential of the 800. I've found two other nuggets the first time I used it in the desert. I've been to the same area 3-4 times since and not found anything. This is an area where we have hit pretty hard and most of the trash was removed to get at the hundreds of nuggets in that 2-3 square mile area. We got most of the gold with our 7000s before the 800 was out. I say all of this so that I feel somewhat confident now that when I swing over gold the 800 'sees' it. I think it will easily see bigger gold in trash and that is the area I want to find. I'm not trying to ignore the settings as I used the default mostly with accepting -1 and 0 as Steve suggested. Mitchel
  6. I think this is a pretty awful title to greet me every time I open this forum. Is there any way to get it off of the top and the first thing I see?
  7. When I read the title I thought you had been laid up ... ? Glad to see you getting out there and getting more. Mitchel
  8. Paul, Good catch on the mechanics of your rig. You can get to know them pretty good so you stay safe. Now for that body of yours ... you said: "While I was out yesterday evening with the 19 I realized I am not up to speed with it yet... My shoulder was killing me in no time. Not the perfect starter coil for the season. Think I will break out the ZEQ 800 today and see how she goes...." You must work your way into things. (Fred's advice.) I'm here to tell you the worst thing about the 800 is its weight. (What? The 7000/14/19 is the heavy beast you say.) I've been using the 800 90% of the time lately (100% on the beach) and I've gotten a few aches and pains from it and my digging arm for sure. Yesterday I stuck in an overnight-er with the 7000/14 and I now know why many 'dislike' it for the weight. I've lost my edge over it and it has an edge over me. Given a few trips I'd be back in shape but by the end of the day I could only swing the 800. Slow out there big man. You'll have to work your way into Norvic's condition again. It's too bad you couldn't do some yoga while doing all that driving. You would be more ready for the weeks ahead of you. Muscle pain goes away with time and a good massage but don't look for Trent when you need that one! Good luck. Mitchel
  9. The web is an ever changing thing. If your website remains static then it can't be dynamic and then as Steve says it becomes relegated to a lesser site just based on the site's technology. When that happens information is lost and not used. Thanks Steve for taking time out of your searching to keep things up to date. Mitchel
  10. Chris Ralph's website is where I first read about Rye Patch. http://nevada-outback-gems.com/prospect/Expedition_to_N_Nevada/prospector_to_nevada.htm
  11. Ok. I used the 800 in Gold Basin but I didn't hear any and yes I would know not to use discrimination. I tried in Gold Mode only. I didn't have a meteorite with me to hear as a sample. Mitchel
  12. What were your 800 settings? Were you in Gold mode? Mitchel
  13. For Sale These are a few unique nuggets. Are they found in a particular place there? Mitchel https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1656424654
  14. Fragments of meteorites fell in southwest China’s Yunnan Province on June 1 and two pieces fell through villagers’ house roofs while one fell on the dry ground and another one was found in a cornfield. https://www.shine.cn/viral/1806045767/
  15. Dave, Dave, Dave ... I just saw this. That is way out of the ordinary. Great job. How many days were you there? I've been there and near the RR tracks a few times to no avail. My finds are very small. It just shows it takes a lot more than just location often times. Mitchel
  16. Here is a good video of the meteor striking the ground turning it into many meteorites! https://www.amsmeteors.org/videos/?video_id=1222 Mitchel
  17. Fred, No telling what you have 'lost' in your yard or the previous users left for you to find. In no time at all you will have hunted every house in the neighborhood! Mitchel
  18. Thanks for the good description of settings. Mitchel
  19. I use the setup you have shown there with my WM8, WM10 and WM12 and connect to JP's booster if necessary or any other volume device. Mitchel
  20. What are people saying? I have found my best silver ring ever. I have found my best gold chain ever. I have found specimen gold. That is what I am saying. Mitchel
  21. Would there be anyone here who has a connection to these nuggets? What ever became of them? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/country-victorian-family-struck-it-rich-with-backyard-gold-rush/news-story/728bbaf9ee22dad77a01b2694fa9b39b
