  1. I'm sure the various detecting forums & social media platforms are the main form of advertising the manufacturers depend on in todays digital marketplace. Word of mouth will always be the best sales technique, even if it is mostly virtual nowadays.
  2. Mine, (&LG30) should be here for the weekend. I've got a list made of sites to revisit.
  3. Hopefully you will get around to checking a few of those ravine bottoms closer to the old dwellings. There will be stuff there.
  4. That is a beautiful site to hunt, Nice finds too. There will be alot more interesting things to discover. Your button marked Tower is probably an older version of one I found last week. Mine is stamped A J Tower Boston. It also has the intact wire loop & back. They were used on Rain Slickers evidently. Thanks for posting.
  5. Are you still hearing significant Ground noise with a good Ground Balance?
  6. Very nice. Old house sites can be tough, especially with a big coil. Have you tried the smaller coil yet?
  7. Case is the pocketknife company. XX is their long-time mark for quality. Zippo is their sister company & they put out a lot of Limited Edition items. I'm not sure how many of this version were produced, but not that many compared to a Mint run on a coin. It is a memorable find for me, that's for sure.
  8. I received word from my Dealer that my LG24 & LG30 coils will be shipping out Monday 01/30. I'm really looking forward to having them both.
  9. No, the signal was tight on audio & a solid 58 all around. It faded if the coil was lifted more than 6 inches. Can slaw even if big, or a crushed Al can is ragged & doesn't hit that high and will still give a fairly strong signal with the coil 8-10+ inches above.
  10. That's an interesting assortment of old. Nice IHPs. There is more there for sure.
  11. I wanted to hunt a bit before the rain sets in for the next few days. I decided to go to a fairly recent permission that is an early 1900's Farmstead with the house still standing vacant. I have been there twice, once with each of my daughters. The whole yard all around the house is trashed from renters living there. I know there has to be some Old there so I set the Legend up in Pitch with the Tone Break set to 40 and started wading through toward the well house. The first target I dug is pictured. Not all that quiet of a signal (only 4" down) but it was tight and I wanted to see what a 58 was. 1 Troy ounce .999 Silver. You just never know what you might find anywhere. I bet some kid got a good whoopin for losing it.
  12. Welcome from East Texas. You have landed in a good spot here.
  13. Thank you all for your insights. It agrees with my speculations & gives me hope Nokta or someone else will offer a high performance GB PI for hobbyists like me who want to detect bad dirt sites/salt beaches at an affordable price point.
  14. Thanks for the replies. I understand the difference in performance & application. I was just curious as to the large difference in selling price. Are they more expensive to manufacture or is it just that they command a higher price because of the performance/application? Seemingly it is more market forces than production costs. Steve , you mentioned the hardware was part of it, can you elaborate? I would like to know a little better for general knowledge. It will be interesting to see what Nokta introduces and at what price point.
  15. I have always wondered why PI units are so much more expensive. Is there something in the hardware or just the Market?
  16. I think you will be surprised at how quick they will turn it around.
  17. The Tarsacci is a great machine for those who put in the time to learn it. And yes, your soil is very kind.
  18. Advertising Ice Picks we’re common before actual refrigerators we’re in common use. Also bottle openers, bread knives….
  19. It is a soldering iron. Get yourself a pretty corn cob for a handle, tin the tip and you are in business as a Tinkerer.
