Mitchel; you will never have that problem if you use the module...alternately you could go buy a three foot male to female cord for an extension... I put my module in my shirt pocket and have never had a problem losing it. On my gpz I was hooking it on my pack's cheststrap. That was no good because it would flip around. Now I have an old cellphone "wallet" that I pinned to my strap...the velcro cover latches the wm12 in very securely... just charge the module everytime you charge the ctx battery and no problems...you will be free of the umbilical cord too...time to separate...haha fred

Silly Question, Who Uses a Bungee?
fredmason replied to DDancer's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Ddancer...have a great time!!! Most of the areas I visited in WesternOz and The Northern Territory had very little if any trash...never, ever pass on a signal because it is loud or on the surface...One of Mark Hyde's tours in 2010 produced a 69 oz part sunbaker...I have only found little sunbakers there...you always hope but never know.... hope i am not boring you with things you already know but it might be worthwhile for others... fred -
beside the gold value the nugget is worth whatever the seller can get and the buyer wants to pay...I would not be buying Oz gold from an antique dealer in Santa Clara....

Thanks for not testing me...i just hate tests... Between Chris' answer and your answer I believe I comphrehend...I think I will get another deepcycle for my travel trailer and a solar charger...life will be wonderful with all that power. my brother and I ran out of gas in my dad's truck long ago...all we had was white gas...it made a beautiful engine fire. My Dad was under whelmed!!! to say the least. thanks fred

Clean your ears out!!!! just teasing, Mitchel. But seriously the wax/crud build-up in your ears can affect your ability to hear well. Most people lose their ability to hear/pick certain noises from the ambient level. It also has to do with paying attention-like listening to a certain singer in a group or a certain instrument...the best thing is to find the tone you hear best while using your detector in the field. You can get to the sound ranges on the ctx and compare them, even change them if you understand how to do it. fred ps. how was tonopah?

go get your hearing checked...you won't know what you can or cannot hear until you do... fred

Norvic; you are being very patient with my questions. Thank you and here are some more that relate to my problem. If i have done my math correctly and if I understand correctly then... 7.2 volts devided into 72 watthours should mean I am burning most of 10 amps out of my truck battery everytime I recharge the gpz. My new ford f150 truck battery has 650 cold cranking amps. It does not say what the reserve is... If that is correct; 1. how long would the alternator take to replace those amps at idle? 2. What size solar charger would I need to replace those 10 amps everyday? I almost always start my truck in the morning but now I wonder if that running time is enough? please use small words cause I ain't very smart thanks fred

I can't prove this but I think certain types of hearing loss may be a benefit to detecting-sometimes. My hearing is so acute that I can hear a few small rain drops hitting my akubra hat...the point being I hear every little sound. Others that could not hear as well had a much easier time in that Nevada ground... fred

Thanks Norvic; Now i understand the process and the reasoning... fred

Thanks, I use the convenience 12v outlet that most new trucks have, not the cig lighter outlet. I could go direct to the battery but why would I want to lift the hood every night after detecting...that would be a pain. I think I will just fix a charging port in my trailer with the deep-cycle and some solar chargers...and save the truck for when I am traveling as Mitchel does. I must say this has never been an issue with any other Minelab 12v charger that I have ever used...oh well. fred

Thanks Guys. Dale, I noticed while visiting Oz that transport is set-up for being on one's own. Chargers, solar-power and freezers everything to provide for a long term stay in the beautiful vast spaces of OZ...you folks have it figured out for sure! fred

I seen this issue on the oz forum...is anyone besides me having a problem with the 12v charger for the gpz? I have two- one for my ctx and one for the 7000 and they both behave badly...when I plug one into the 12v outlet in my truck it starts flashing red while charging. The manual says this means there may not be enough battery to pull juice from the truck battery...my truck battery is brand new. So, I carry a small invertor and plugged that into the 12v outlet, then the battery charger into the inverter...the charger worked fine but my truck battery was drawn down and I had to jump it... so, the second question is this; does the inverter draw a huge amount of amps to go from 12v to 110v to charge a the zed battery??? Also, is the sensitivey of the minelab chargers adjustable ???? thanks fred

Steve's many mods and my best friend have shown me that I don't have to adjust myself to the equipment; I can adjust some of the equipment to me... thanks for another great idea! fred
